Abstract

The source of professional nurses is inevitably needed in the near future. Contradictory, the nursing professional source remains debatable, as the fact of the occurrence of a nursing turnover rate. Studies reported personal reasons influenced the nurse turnover rate in which parental role conflict was included. The current study utilizes feminist ethics to explore parental role conflict in nurses, specifically in relation to their professional career development in nursing. Applying a feminist ethics approach to understanding parental role conflicts enables a comprehensive analysis of prospective alternatives from both policy and educational perspectives. Prospective alternatives grounded in feminist ethics can effectively address the moral imperatives of respecting nurses' career development preferences and general rights. This paper contributes to developing novel solutions for the ethical dilemmas of parental issues and night shifts in healthcare settings that could benefit healthcare professionals. Abstract

Learning style is one of the main elements for students and lecturers to determine the right learning support. The VARK (Visual, Aural, Reading, Kinesthetic) approach is one approach that can be used to identify a person's learning style. Unfortunately, not everyone knows this approach to help determine their learning style. The purpose of this community service activity is to socialize and simulate the VARK approach in identifying learning styles. This activity was carried out in May 2024 at Itekes Bali, Denpasar, Indonesia. A total of 52 participants were involved in this activity, consisting of 42 students and 10 lecturers. Participants in this activity came from Itekes Bali, Denpasar, Indonesia, and from Saint Louis College, Bangkok, Thailand. This activity was carried out with the stages of Preparation, Action, Reflection and Evaluation (PARE). The results of the activity showed that most (67%) participants had insufficient knowledge about the VARK approach in identifying learning styles, and all participants (100%) participants succeeded in having good knowledge about the VARK approach in identifying their learning styles after this activity was carried out. The conclusion is that this educational and simulation activity has succeeded in increasing the knowledge of all participants about the VARK approach in identifying learning styles.

Abstract

Walker and Avant have been pivotal in guiding researchers toward publishing concept analysis articles. However, limited studies have explored the trends of concept analysis within the nursing context. This topic is particularly relevant today as it can inspire and inform future concept analysis publications. This study utilized a literature review design to examine the evolution of concept analysis in nursing. A total of 54 articles were identified through a systematic search across six databases. These articles were categorized into four key themes: psychological responses, healthcare system improvement, behavior, and patient-focused concepts. A comprehensive table was developed to summarize how each concept was defined by scholars, and trends over a five-year period were analyzed. The findings revealed that psychological responses were the most frequently studied theme and vice versa, research focusing on behavior showed a decline over time. Despite this trend, patient-centered concepts demonstrated consistent attention throughout the period. The study also highlighted a consistent emphasis on understanding psychological impacts and promoting patient involvement in decision-making processes. Based on these findings, future research should focus on developing caring interventions that address patients' psychological needs. Such research will further strengthen the role of nursing in fostering holistic innovation care. Abstract

Kata Kunci:  Dekubitus, Penyuluhan, Sosial Media, Stroke,Video Edukasi  ABSTRACT Stroke is a leading cause of neurological disorders worldwide, with one-third of sufferers requiring prolonged bed rest. A common side effect of prolonged bed rest is pressure ulcers. By using video-based educational materials, this community service activity (PKM) aims to improve the understanding and skills of family members in preventing and treating pressure ulcers in stroke patients. Planning, implementation, and evaluation are the techniques used. The hospital's official social media accounts (YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook) were used to disseminate educational videos online. Furthermore, direct counseling was also carried out on 26 families of stroke patients from the Kamasan, Takmung, and Pikat treatment rooms. Finally, the educational video was played repeatedly in the Polyclinic waiting room, operating room, and intensive care unit. A questionnaire was used to measure the level of knowledge of participants in direct counseling. Evaluation after one month, the video uploaded on social media Youtube had been watched more than 600 times, indicating the success of information delivery. A total of 92.3% of direct counseling participants showed insufficient knowledge in the pre-test. After education, all participants in the post-test showed a good increase in knowledge. Participants who watched the video in the waiting room, for two weeks were randomly selected to fill out a knowledge questionnaire. A total of 32 participants were found to have good knowledge. Abstract

Simulation-based education is a vital component of modern nursing education, providing a safe, controlled environment for students to develop clinical competencies. It bridges the gap between theory and practice by fostering experiential learning, critical thinking, and decision-making. This narrative review explores simulation strategies in nursing education, assesses educational outcomes, and identifies implementation challenges. A literature search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, and ScienceDirect for articles published between 2020 and 2025. Studies discussing simulation strategies, outcomes, and barriers in undergraduate nursing education were included. Common simulation methods include high-fidelity manikins, standardized patients, virtual simulations, and hybrid models. These approaches enhance clinical skills, communication, teamwork, confidence, and knowledge retention. Simulation also supports reflective practice and safe error correction. However, barriers such as high costs, limited faculty expertise, time constraints, and inconsistent evaluation methods persist. Simulation enhances learning outcomes in nursing education but requires strategic integration, adequate resources, and faculty training. Addressing these challenges can maximize its impact and better prepare students for clinical practice. The outcome of this review highlights that well-implemented simulation strategies significantly improve nursing students’ clinical competence, critical thinking, and readiness for real-world healthcare environments, ultimately contributing to safer and higher-quality patient care.

Abstract

The aging process has caused various health problems, including limited physical mobility due to muscle weakness, joint stiffness, and certain chronic disease conditions. Efforts to maintain the health of older people can be done through Range of Motion (ROM) exercises, with the family as caregivers having an essential role in doing so. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge of elderly caregivers by providing education and simulations on ROM exercises for older people. A total of 41 caregivers from Melinggih Village, Gianyar Regency and Pedungan Village, Denpasar City were involved in this activity in March 2025. The activity was carried out using the education and simulation method, with stages using the PARE (Preparation, Action, Reflection, and Evaluation) approach. The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test obtained a p-value < 0.001 with Z = - 3.65, which showed a significant difference in the level of caregiver knowledge about ROM exercises in older people before and after the activity. Good knowledge increased from 63% to 100%, and poor knowledge decreased from 31.7% to 0%. This shows that community service activities with education and simulation methods have successfully increased caregivers' knowledge and practical abilities in performing ROM exercises for older people. ROM exercises can be an easy choice for caregivers as an effective way to maintain the health of older people in the community, support long-term care programs, and thus improve the quality of life for the older people in the community.

Abstract

Physically demanding tasks in long-term care, such as lifting and repositioning patients, increase caregivers' risk of musculoskeletal disorders, highlighting the need for empowerment through targeted education and skills training to ensure safe practices. This community service aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational training program for caregivers, focusing on working posture management and technique in transferring older people to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. A pre- and post-intervention design was used to assess cognitive improvement and participant satisfaction among 41 caregivers in community setting. Results showed a marked increase in correct responses across all questionnaire items following the training, indicating improved knowledge and satisfaction throughout the training. The increased to 95.1% after the training was found, indicating a significant gain in knowledge about the basic concepts of transfer techniques. Participants expressed high satisfaction, with simulation-based learning identified as the most effective instructional method. The findings suggest that targeted, practical training can enhance caregivers’ competencies and contribute to safer caregiving practices. Despite these positive outcomes, limitations included a participant bias, limited follow-up, or the socio-economic context of the participants in short-term evaluation. Future programs are recommended to include follow-up assessments and wider community involvement to ensure long-term impact and sustainability.
