Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the menstrual cycle in adolescents at STIKARA SINTANG. The menstrual cycle is a clinical sign of female reproductive function. Menstruation is a complex process involving several hormones, sexual organs, and the nervous system. Body mass index is very influential on menstrual disorders because if a person experiences certain hormonal changes which are marked by a marked decrease in body weight (underweight, BMI < 18.5). The test used was the Chi-square test so the results were (p=0.05, pvalue =0.015), meaning there was a significant relationship between BMI and the menstrual cycle.

Abstract

Background: According to WHO data (2020), 40% of infants worldwide are exclusively breastfed, and 60% of infants are given complementary foods before the age of 6 months. According to data from the 2021 Basic Health Research in Indonesia, 52.5% or just half of the 2.3 million infants under 6 months of age are exclusively breastfed, and some children are already being given complementary foods before 6 months of age. Eight out of 10 people interviewed did not understand complementary feeding. Purpose: To determine the level of mothers’ knowledge regarding complementary feeding for infants aged 6-24 months. Mothod: This study used a quantitative descriptive method with 40 mothers as respondents and univariate analysis. It was found that 43% of respondents had good knowledge of complementary feeding for infants aged 6-24 months. Thirty-eight percent of respondents had adequate knowledge, and a small portion 20% had insufficient knowledge regarding complementary feeding for children aged 6-24 months. Results: The respondents had good knowledge regarding the provision of complementary feeding for infants aged 6–24 months, with a percentage of 43%. Conclusion: Respondents’ knowledge of complementary feeding for infants aged 6–24 months is generally good, particularly regarding the types and purposes of complementary feeding. Suggestion: It is hoped that health departments and midwives will consistently provide education to new mothers to ensure they pay attention to complementary feeding, starting with the texture and nutritional needs appropriate for the infant’s age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of traditional leaders in health decision-making regarding the Family Planning (KB) program in Kenyabur Baru Village, Sintang Regency, through the perspective of structural functionalism. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with Dayak and Javanese traditional leaders, village government officials, health workers, and the local community. The results indicate that the success of the KB program in this region is driven by the fulfillment of four functional prerequisites in the AGIL scheme (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency). Traditional leaders play a central role in the integration function by aligning government policies with traditional values, ensuring that the KB program is accepted as part of moral responsibility and orderly living rather than structural coercion. The tripartite synergy between traditional authorities, the village government, and health workers creates an equilibrium that minimizes social resistance and strengthens cultural legitimacy toward modern healthcare service.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of stunting cannot be separated from the many factors that cause the risk of stunting. In Piasak village, Selimbau District, there are still many stunting incidents occurring. Factors such as the weight of toddlers, exclusive breastfeeding, nutritional knowledge of toddlers, basic sanitation of toddlers and economic status are thought to be the reasons for the high incidence of stunting there. Purpose: to find the relationship between the factors that cause stunting and the most dominant ones that cause stunting. Method: The research method used is quantitative descriptive using a questionnaire to 100 respondents as a data collection tool, then it will be analyzed using the chi-square test, and crosstabs and linear regression using SPSS. Results: The results of the research stated that there was a significant influence of the toddler's weight (p value=0.00), toddler's nutritional knowledge (p value=0.00), and basic sanitation of toddlers (p value=0.029) and there was no influence of exclusive breastfeeding. (p value = 0.670) and family economic status (p value = 0.266). Conclusion: The nutritional knowledge factor of toddlers is the most dominant factor influencing the incidence of stunting with the beta coefficient being the farthest away from 0 (β= -0.572).

This type of research is quantitative with a case control approach method retrospective. The sample in the study for the case group used the total sampling technique and the accidental sampling control group. Analysis using chi square significance level of 0.05. The results showed that there was a relationship between house ventilation and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (OR=4.521), there was a relationship between the humidity of the house and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (OR=4.343), there was a relationship between the floor of the house and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (OR=4.000), there was a relationship between lighting and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (OR=4.169), there is a relationship between house occupancy density and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (OR=4.640), there is a relationship between work and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) (OR=3.571), there is a relationship between income and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) ( OR=9,277). Recommended for Communities in Tanjung Ria, Tanjung Hulu and Sungai Raya Villages, Sepauk District, Sintang District need to maintain compliance with housing sanitation standards and increase their economic level so that they become examples for communities in other villages.

Abstract

Background: Anemia in pregnancy remains an important maternal health problem and may contribute to maternal and fetal morbidity. Maternal age is one of the characteristics that may be associated with anemia, particularly when pregnancy occurs before 20 years or after 35 years of age. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between maternal age and the incidence of anemia during pregnancy. Method: This quantitative study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population comprised 137 pregnant women who underwent antenatal check-ups at Sungai Durian Community Health Center from October to December 2025. A total of 133 respondents met the study criteria and were selected using total sampling. Secondary data were obtained from medical records and included maternal age and hemoglobin status. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Chi-Square test at α = 0.05, and the odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was reported. Results: Most respondents were in the non-risk maternal age group of 20–35 years (65.4%), while 34.6% were in the risk age group (<20 or >35 years). Anemia was identified in 49 respondents (36.8%). The Pearson Chi-Square test showed a significant association between maternal age and anemia in pregnancy (p = 0.008). Pregnant women in the risk age group had 2.705 times higher odds of anemia than those aged 20–35 years (OR = 2.705; 95% CI = 1.288–5.681). Conclusion: Maternal age was significantly associated with anemia in pregnancy. Pregnant women aged <20 or >35 years require closer screening and monitoring for anemia during antenatal care. Suggestion: Health workers should strengthen early anemia screening among pregnant women in the risk age groups and provide appropriate nutrition education and counseling on adherence to iron supplementation.
