Abstract

The impact of quality education on poverty reduction is a critical area of study, particularly when examined across different economic contexts. This research investigates how quality education influences poverty reduction in low-income and high-income countries, focusing on the moderating effect of financial context. A comparative cross-sectional research design was employed, utilizing secondary data from thirty countries—fifteen low-income and fifteen high-income—sourced from reputable databases such as the World Bank, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression were conducted to analyze the relationship between educational quality and poverty reduction. The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between literacy rates and poverty reduction, mainly in high-income countries (r = 0.76, p < 0.01). Regression analysis further supports that the impact of education on poverty is more substantial in high-income contexts, with a notable interaction effect between education and economic context (β = 0.36, p < 0.01). These results suggest that while education is vital for poverty alleviation, its effectiveness varies depending on the economic environment. The study concludes that tailored educational policies are necessary to enhance the poverty-reducing potential of education in low-income countries, highlighting the need for global educational reforms to address these disparities.

Abstract

In the era of advanced education, assessing lecturer performance is crucial to maintaining educational quality. One aspect of this assessment involves evaluating the textbooks authored by lecturers. This study addresses the problem of efficiently detecting International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) within these textbooks using optical character recognition (OCR) as a potential solution. The objective is to determine the effectiveness of OCR, specifically the Tesseract platform, in facilitating ISBN detection to support lecturer performance assessments. The research method involves automated data collection and ISBN detection using Tesseract OCR on various sections of textbooks, including covers, tables of contents, and identity pages, across different file formats (JPG and PDF) and orientations. The study evaluates OCR performance concerning image quality, rotation, and file type. Results of this study indicate that Tesseract performs effectively on high-quality, low-noise JPG images, achieving an F1 score of 0.97 for JPG and 0.99 for PDF files. However, its performance decreases with rotated images and certain PDF conditions, highlighting specific limitations of OCR in ISBN detection. These findings suggest that OCR can be a valuable tool in enhancing lecturer performance assessments through efficient ISBN detection in textbooks.

Abstract

Islamic education has an important role in building a civilization. the main priority of an education system is educating students on how to learn and think critically, but Islamic education is considered to have not been able to achieve this target. Paul K. Feyerabend was a philosopher with the great thought of anarchism epistemology, the basic principle of his thought is anything goes. He argues that there should be no need to be too rigid in using a method or theory. Because none of these methods are perfect, it could be that the methods or theories that we believe and use are not actually theories. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method used, namely library research, by collecting related literature and analyzing it. Paul Feyerabend teaches us to always be critical in understanding things and use diverse perspectives, so it is not easy to blame different understandings. The theory presented by Paul is very relevant to Islamic Education which ideally is very open to critical space and open to all ideas or ideas that differ from our opinions. So that the book of Jesus is wiser and not easy to blame other opinions.

Abstract

Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR) is the most severe stage of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), carrying the highest risk of complications. Automatic detection can help provide earlier and more accurate PDR diagnosis, but prediction accuracy may decline due to limitations in retinal images. Therefore, image enhancement techniques are often applied to improve DR classification. This study aims to detect PDR from retinal images using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and to evaluate the impact of three enhancement methods. This research method is based on a CNN architecture, including ResNet34, InceptionV2, and DenseNet121, as well as enhancement methods such as CLAHE, Homomorphic Filtering (HF), and Multiscale Contrast Enhancement (MCE). The results of this research show that CNN performance varies across architectures and enhancement methods. The highest performance was achieved using ResNet34 with HF, yielding an accuracy of 0.976, precision of 0.934, and recall of 0.904. CLAHE generally improved performance across architectures, achieving the best average accuracy of 0.953, whereas MCE decreased classification accuracy. Overall, the findings highlight the importance of selecting appropriate enhancement methods to improve PDR detection accuracy. Implementing such systems in clinical screening could help reduce the risk of vision impairment among diabetic patients.

Abstract

General Background: Curriculum reform in Indonesia continues to evolve in response to rapid scientific, technological, and societal changes. Specific Background: Within this context, Islamic Religious Education (IRE/PAI) requires systematic refinement to ensure its relevance to students’ spiritual, moral, and intellectual development. Knowledge Gap: However, comprehensive analyses that explain how the PAI curriculum is planned, implemented, and evaluated holistically are still limited, particularly regarding the roles of stakeholders in shaping curriculum quality. Aim: This study aims to critically describe the development process of the Islamic Education curriculum in Indonesia through stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation using a qualitative library research approach. Results: The findings show that effective curriculum development requires clarity of goals, understanding of school conditions, recognition of student and teacher needs, identification of existing problems, assessment of teacher competencies, and awareness of social phenomena. The PAI curriculum is developed based on the pillars of iman, Islam, and ihsan, and its success depends on collaboration among administrators, experts, teachers, and parents. Novelty: This study highlights the interconnectedness of curriculum components and stakeholders in a unified development cycle rarely discussed in prior research. Implications: These insights reinforce the need for continuous, context-responsive curriculum development to strengthen the character and competence of learners. Highlights:   Curriculum development in Islamic Education must align with societal needs and modern educational demands. PAI curriculum pillars—iman, Islam, and ihsan—serve as the foundation for holistic learner development. Stakeholder collaboration (administrators, experts, teachers, parents) is essential for effective curriculum implementation.
