Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced a global shift toward technical and inventive skills to improve job readiness and productivity. Human resources graduates from diploma levels 3 and 4 must respond with has competitively by adding value from soft skills. This can help them compete in domestic and international job markets. These skills are now required for professional acceptance. This study investigates the role of soft skills in learning and using information technology, the internet, and computers to boost individual and organizational efficiency. This study addresses all research questions and objectives using a combination of methods. We collected quantitative data on technology and innovation mastery ability gaps using online surveys. Comprehensive interviews with educational institutions, government agencies, industry representatives, and vocational diploma level 3 and 4 alumni were also conducted for the study. The data showed no statistically significant difference in alumni' technological proficiency between when they study and when they work. This shows that many former students have learned to use soft skills to boost their professional competitiveness and technical ability. ICT skills improve vocational human resources' employability, making them more competitive and competitive with undergraduate graduates. Keywords: Vocational, Soft Skill, Technology, Competencies, productivity, competitiveness

Abstract

The use of solid catalyst in alcoholysis can increase the purity of ester because the separation process of solid catalyst is simpler than that of liquid catalyst. Prior to the ester formation, the ethanol was activated by the zeolite, forming alkoxide molecules. These molecules can attack the carbonyl functional group at the triglyceride in Jatropha oil and form ester. Jatropha oil, ethanol, and clinoptilolite zeolite powder were added into an autoclave equipped with manometer, thermometer, sampling valve, and heater. The autoclave was then powered up and rotated, and sampling was performed at time interval of 10 minutes. The reaction was performed at a temperature of 120°C and an autoclave rotation speed 110 rpm, with varied catalyst percentage and ethanol-oil equivalent ratio. The conversion was determined by analyzing the glycerol concentration of the lower layer with acetyl method. This study confirms that clinoptilolite type zeolite is effective catalyst for alcoholysis of jatropha oil. When the ethanol-oil ratio was 12.55 mgek/mgek, the catalyst percentage was 2.56% weight, the glyceride conversion reached 73%.

Abstract

Castor oil of Ricinus communis has potential as a raw material for biodiesel synthesis through catalytic alcoholysis process. Clinoptilolite type natural zeolite is one of solid catalysts that can be used in the alcoholysis process. In the present work, the alcoholysis was carried out in an autoclave reactor equipped with manometer, thermometer, sampling valve, and heating element. The reaction occurred at elevated temperatures with the use of clinoptilolite as a solid catalyst. The experimental data indicated that in a certain reaction time range, an increase in temperature and autoclave rotation speed lead to the increase of reaction conversion. Calculation results showed that the overall reaction rate was controlled by chemical reaction at the catalyst surface. The optimum condition of the alcoholysis process was obtained at reaction time of 60 minutes, temperature of 120C and autoclave rotation of 110 rpm with the use of alcohol-oil ratio of 12.56 mgek / mgek and 2.56% (w/w) catalyst. At the optimum condition, the conversion could reach as high as 0.73. The obtaining esters had a viscosity of 8.0 cst, -16.6°F pour point, 215°F flash point, ASTM color of 1, and heating value of 19,119 Btu/lb.

Abstract

One of the characteristics of urban areas is the increasingly limited land that can be used for plant cultivation. Only now, a lot of yard land has yet to be utilized optimally, especially for cultivating vegetables. Klitren Village, in the center of Yogyakarta City, has community-owned yard land that can be used even though the area is limited. This service activity aims to maximize the use of yard land for cultivating vegetable plants, herbal gardens, and food storage. This service activity was carried out in Klitren Village at the Asoka Farming Women's Group (FWG) in July 2022. The service activity was attended by 81 people who were a combination of women members of Asoka's FWG, the Village Head of Klitren Village, Village Agricultural Extension Officers, Lecturers, Students, Research and Community Service Units, and the Klitren Village community from various. The service is carried out through several activities, including making planting media for cultivating vegetable plants, arranging herbal gardens, and providing food barns. 100% of the evaluation results stated that the activity participants knew how to make planting media and food storage. In comparison, 66.7% said they knew how to organize and maintain an herbal garden. 66.7% of the participant's responses to the activities indicated that they were helpful and hoped they could be sustainable and improved.

Abstract

To maintain sugarcane freshness, it is crucial to process it promptly after harvest. This study aims to analyze the quality of molded brown sugar derived from raw materials with varying levels of freshness. The research adopts a non-factorial design involving three main treatments: the duration of stay on the first, second, and third days, with three replications. Parameters observed during the molded brown sugar production process include brix, pol, purity, and reducing sugar from raw juice; brix, pol, purity, and reducing sugar from clear juice; color, brix, moisture content, and reducing sugar of sugar. Data analysis is performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the application of Duncan's multiple range test. The purity value in raw juice data H1 with a value of 89.54 significantly differs from data H3 with a value of 73.83. Similarly, reducing sugar in raw juice H1 at 0.74 significantly differs from H3 at 0.93. The purity value in clear juice H1 at 88.34 significantly differs from H3 at 75.40. As for reducing sugar in clear juice, H1 at 0.81 is significantly smaller than H3 at 1.18. Regarding the difference between open-pan and close-pan cooking treatments, it is concluded that the cooking system producing the best molded brown sugar is the close-pan system, evident in both color results and the reduced sugar content of molded brown sugar. The best color for molded brown sugar is found in treatment H1 (day 1) with the close-pan system at 551.40. The lowest reducing sugar content is observed in treatment H1 (day 1) with the close-pan system at 0.94.
