Abstract

To maintain sugarcane freshness, it is crucial to process it promptly after harvest. This study aims to analyze the quality of molded brown sugar derived from raw materials with varying levels of freshness. The research adopts a non-factorial design involving three main treatments: the duration of stay on the first, second, and third days, with three replications. Parameters observed during the molded brown sugar production process include brix, pol, purity, and reducing sugar from raw juice; brix, pol, purity, and reducing sugar from clear juice; color, brix, moisture content, and reducing sugar of sugar. Data analysis is performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the application of Duncan's multiple range test. The purity value in raw juice data H1 with a value of 89.54 significantly differs from data H3 with a value of 73.83. Similarly, reducing sugar in raw juice H1 at 0.74 significantly differs from H3 at 0.93. The purity value in clear juice H1 at 88.34 significantly differs from H3 at 75.40. As for reducing sugar in clear juice, H1 at 0.81 is significantly smaller than H3 at 1.18. Regarding the difference between open-pan and close-pan cooking treatments, it is concluded that the cooking system producing the best molded brown sugar is the close-pan system, evident in both color results and the reduced sugar content of molded brown sugar. The best color for molded brown sugar is found in treatment H1 (day 1) with the close-pan system at 551.40. The lowest reducing sugar content is observed in treatment H1 (day 1) with the close-pan system at 0.94.

Abstract

Pemerintah menargetkan untuk peningkatan gula nasional adalah dengan cara perluasan areal tebu di Indonesia. Pencarian lahan baru sebagai usaha perluasan areal tebu harus diteliti sumberdaya lahannya agar berproduksi secara berkelanjutan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi kelas kesesuaian lahan secara spesifik bagi tanaman tebu di Desa Wedomartani agar dapat memberikan saran sesuai dengan hasil analisis kesesuaian lahan untuk pengelolaan lahan yang tepat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di bulan Juni-Juli 2023 di Desa Wedomartani dan Laboratorium Tanah dan Nutrisi Tanaman Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada tiga titik lokasi di desa tersebut dengan menggunakan metode random sampling. Penentuan lokasi penelitian atau SPL didasarkan pada lahan yang ditanami tebu di Desa Wedomartani. Parameter yang diamati antara lain kondisi iklim, drainase, tekstur tanah, kedalaman tanah efektif, Kapasitas Tukar Kation (KTK), pH tanah, C-Organik, N Total, P Tersedia, K Tersedia, kemiringan lereng, bahaya erosi dan banjir serta volume singkapan batuan dan batuan permukaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kondisi lahan di Wedomartani untuk kesesuaian lahan tanaman tebu yaitu S3rc dan S3na yang mempunyai faktor pembatas berupa tekstur tanah dan kurangnya P Tersedia. Perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan yaitu penambahan pupuk organik dan pupuk anorganik yang mempunyai unsur hara P.

Abstract

One of the characteristics of urban areas is the increasingly limited land that can be used for plant cultivation. Only now, a lot of yard land has yet to be utilized optimally, especially for cultivating vegetables. Klitren Village, in the center of Yogyakarta City, has community-owned yard land that can be used even though the area is limited. This service activity aims to maximize the use of yard land for cultivating vegetable plants, herbal gardens, and food storage. This service activity was carried out in Klitren Village at the Asoka Farming Women's Group (FWG) in July 2022. The service activity was attended by 81 people who were a combination of women members of Asoka's FWG, the Village Head of Klitren Village, Village Agricultural Extension Officers, Lecturers, Students, Research and Community Service Units, and the Klitren Village community from various. The service is carried out through several activities, including making planting media for cultivating vegetable plants, arranging herbal gardens, and providing food barns. 100% of the evaluation results stated that the activity participants knew how to make planting media and food storage. In comparison, 66.7% said they knew how to organize and maintain an herbal garden. 66.7% of the participant's responses to the activities indicated that they were helpful and hoped they could be sustainable and improved.

Abstract

Minyak jelantah adalah salah satu limbah yang banyak dihasilkan oleh rumah tangga, rumah makan, restoran dan lainnya. Sifat dari lemak minyak jelantah yang tidak dapat bercampur dengan air menyebabkan terjadinya penumpukan pada saluran air. Selain itu dapat mengakibatkan rusaknya ekosistem pada lingkungan yang terkena dampak pembuangan minyak jelantah. Dalam kehidupan sehari hari masyarakat Perum Puri Koperasi Asri Blawong II   Trimulyo, Jetis, Bantul banyak menggunakan minyak goreng di dalam mengolah makanan, sehingga produksi minyak jelantah di daerah tersebut tidak sedikit. Minyak jelantah ini biasanya hanya dibuang sembarangan ke saluran air. Keadaan tersebut sangat mengkhawatirkan dikarenakan limbah minyak tersebut akan menyebabkan pencemaran pada saluran air. Minyak jelantah ini belum banyak dimanfaatkan di Perum Puri Koperasi Asri Blawong II Trimulyo, Jetis, Bantul, perlu dilakukan upaya untuk meminimalisir limbah minyak jelantah serta mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan. Salah satu upaya tersebut adalah mengolah minyak jelantah menjadi lilin aromaterapi. Hal tersebut merupakan salah satu langkah mudah dan memiliki nilai ekonomis sehingga berpotensi untuk dikembanagkan menjadi sumber penghasilan bagi masyarakat desa tersebut.

Abstract

Pabrik Gula Wedomartani merupakan pabrik yang mengolah tebu menjadi gula merah cetak yang berlokasi di Sleman, Yogyakarta. Masalah utama yang dihadapi pabrik ini adalah belum optimalnya proses produksi sehingga produktivitas dan efisiensinya masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis pemborosan pada jalur produksi gula merah cetak dan memberikan usulan perbaikan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi proses. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung menggunakan pendekatan time study selama 5 hari produksi, dengan 1 siklus produksi lengkap diamati setiap hari. Sebanyak 20 aktivitas proses diukur menggunakan stopwatch dan lembar process activity mapping, kemudian divalidasi melalui konfirmasi dengan operator dan pengelola pabrik. Berdasarkan analisis Manufacturing Cycle Effectiveness (MCE), diperoleh nilai efisiensi produksi sebesar 81% dengan persentase pemborosan 19%, yang terdiri atas 3% non-value added (NVA) dan 16% necessary non-value added (NNVA). Pemborosan pada jalur produksi dipengaruhi oleh faktor manusia, mesin, metode, dan material yang saling berkaitan dengan keterbatasan operasional pabrik. Usulan perbaikan diberikan melalui metode Five-M Checklist, meliputi peningkatan keterampilan operator, standardisasi SOP, penambahan feeding conveyor, peningkatan kapasitas gilingan, penggunaan dozing pump, alat bantu pendinginan, serta pengendalian kualitas tebu. Perbaikan tersebut diproyeksikan memiliki potensi meningkatkan MCE menjadi sekitar 86,5%.Kata Kunci: Efisiensi, Five-M Checklist, MCE, Non-value added, Pabrik gula

Abstract

One of the pillars that will support the sugar self-sufficiency program proclaimed by the Indonesian government is smallholder sugarcane farmers. The problems faced are not only on-farm problems such as land management and inaccurate pest control, but also sugarcane farmer cooperatives which have many obstacles. This causes productivity both in terms of cultivation to be less than optimal and the existing cooperatives to be unable to run as originally intended. The purpose of this community service is to provide assistance to people's sugarcane farmers by providing counseling on good sugarcane management, proper sugarcane control, and cooperative management. This activity was carried out with partners from smallholder sugarcane farmers in Sleman who are members of the Koperasi Petani Tebu Rakyat Sido Makmur Abadi which is located at Jl. Raya Selomartani Dayakan, Purwomartani, Sleman. In Yogyakarta. The activity phase that has been carried out is preceded by coordination to discuss the main problems of sugar cane farmers, then there is socialization regarding alternative solutions to farmer problems, and finally assistance in the form of counseling. The results of the activities showed an increase in knowledge regarding good sugarcane cultivation techniques and proper beetle larvae control by 41% and regarding cooperative management by 60%. It is hoped that this increased understanding will become the basis for improving cultivation activities in the 2023-2024 sugarcane planting year so that productivity increases and sugarcane farmer cooperatives are better managed
