Abstract

Laboratorium memainkan peran penting sebagai tempat aplikasi teori, uji coba, dan penelitian. Pemanfaatan laboratorium mendukung pengembangan keterampilan ilmiah siswa, mempermudah pemahaman konsep, serta meningkatkan motivasi belajar. Dalam penelitian ini, laboratorium IPA di SMPN 5 Kerinci dievaluasi kesesuaiannya dengan standar nasional. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat apakah laboratorium IPA di SMPN 5 Kerinci sudah sesuai standar yang telah ditetapkan dalam permendiknas nomor 24 tahun 2007. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif-kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Aspek yang diamati meliputi ruang laboratorium dengan skor (71,42%) dengan kategori baik, perabot dengan skor (80,95%) dengan kategori baik, peralatan pendidikan dengan skor (69,91%) dengan kategori baik, media pendidikan dengan skor (100%) dengan kategori sangat baik dan perlengkapan lainnya dengan skor (66,66%) dengan kategori baik. Hasil penelitian secara keseluruhan laboratorium di SMPN 5 Kerinci dengan persentase skor (77,78%) dengan kategori baik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa laboratorium di SMPN 5 Kerinci sudah memenuhi standar laboratorium IPA yang dikeluarkan oleh pemerintah.

Abstract

This research investigates the use of bat guano compost as an alternative to inorganic fertilizers in organic farming practices in the ecotourism area of Bat Island. Ethno Scientific approach and qualitative research methodology are employed to gain deeper understanding of the knowledge, beliefs, traditional practices, and perspectives of the community regarding compost. Data collection methods involved observations and interviews conducted from May to June 2021. Observational activities were carried out through direct observation of the Ujong Pasir location, which serves as the ecotourism area of Bat Island. Research informants included traditional leaders, village government officials, and the local community. The findings reveal that the community possesses extensive knowledge of compost production from bat guano and perceives it as an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution in agriculture. Their perspectives reaffirm the commitment to organic farming and the need for sustainable agricultural practices. Furthermore, collaboration among the community, farmers, and researchers in the development and enhancement of compost utilization demonstrates significant potential for expanding knowledge and implementing organic farming practices within the community. These findings underscore the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in supporting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation in ecotourism areas. Further research is recommended to delve deeper into the technical and social aspects of compost utilization, as well as to formulate more effective strategies for promoting the adoption of organic farming practices within the community.

Abstract

Teachers face a dilemma. On the one hand, science and technology significantly benefit students, providing greater opportunities for future generations. On the other hand, students' interest in science and technology continues to decrease. The rapid advance of science and technology also widens inequities and enhances gender differences. Understanding students' perceptions of technology in learning, especially science, and their daily lives is necessary. The research employs both descriptive and comparative methods as its primary methodologies. The descriptive method provides an overview of students' perceptions of science and technology. The comparative method helps uncover differences in students' perceptions based on gender. The study encompasses 200 participants from a junior high school in Kerinci. This research utilized the "My Opinions about Science and Technology" questionnaire. The questionnaire was translated into Indonesian and formatted into an online survey using Google Forms. It comprises 16 research statements about science and technology designed to collect essential data, employing a 4-point scale response. The Independent Samples T-test, facilitated by SPSS, compared male and female perceptions of science and technology. The descriptive statistics reveal that the average student perception is 3.06. Based on the level of each student, no students are categorized as having a low level of perception of science and technology. Based on gender, female students exhibit an average perception of 3.02, and males display an average of 3.11. Based on the mean or average values, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average perception between female and male students, with male students showing a higher perception of science and technology than female students. The independent samples t-test results confirm that the average perception of females regarding science and technology is lower than that of males, with a mean difference of -0.093 on a 4-point scale. The disparity in perception based on gender was found to be statistically significant. Male students have a higher percentage of high-level perception compared to female students. Males exhibit high perceptions regarding the development of scientific theories, the impact of science and technology on environmental problems, and the potential for science and technology to improve life, create more interesting jobs and help eradicate poverty and famine. The theoretical and practical implications of these results are discussed.

Abstract

Islamic Higher Education often serves as a pivotal educational centre, cultivating knowledge and fostering academic growth. Understanding the factors influencing students' academic performance, particularly in specialized fields like Tadris Biology, holds significance in optimising educational strategies and support systems. This study aims to ascertain the variables that impact the Cumulative Achievement Index of Tadris Biology students at Islamic universities. The research methodology employed is qualitative, using Grounded Theory analysis techniques. Data was collected by administering a questionnaire and conducting in-depth interviews with 67 students. The findings indicate that prior educational experience, gender, and parental income affect GPA. Students with a scientific background, female students, and those from higher-income households tend to achieve higher GPAs. Conversely, social media usage can hurt academic performance, while involvement in extracurricular activities has no discernible effect. The benefit of this research is that it explores factors affecting the academic success of tardis biology students in Islamic higher education. This research holds inherent value in unravelling the nuanced aspects that shape the academic success of Tadris Biology students within the realm of Islamic higher education. Understanding these dynamics can pave the way for tailored interventions and support systems to enhance student outcomes in this specialised field.

Abstract

Keahlian literasi sains sangat penting bagi siswa untuk menilai sejauh mana penerapan konsep ilmiah dalam materi Biologi. Pemahaman yang mendalam tentang konten Biologi akan memberikan wawasan mengenai efektivitas pembelajaran biologi dan memungkinkan pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi sains siswa dalam konteks pembelajaran biologi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket yang berfokus pada isu literasi sains khususnya dalam mata pelajaran biologi yang dikembangkan oleh Laugksch. Metode yang diterapkan adalah Kuantitatif Deskriptif, dengan pengolahan data menggunakan aplikasi JASP. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa SMA di Kota Sungai Penuh, dengan 230 siswa sebagai sampel yang terlibat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 76,96% siswa memiliki kemampuan literasi sains yang tinggi, 22,61% memiliki kemampuan sedang, dan hanya 0,43% yang menunjukkan kemampuan rendah. Siswa laki-laki memperoleh nilai minimum 42 dan maksimum 96, sementara siswa perempuan memiliki nilai minimum 23 dan maksimum 100. Secara keseluruhan, mayoritas siswa SMA di Kota Sungai Penuh menunjukkan kemampuan literasi sains yang tinggi berdasarkan data yang dikumpulkan melalui soal yang disebarkan di dua SMA di kota tersebut. Oleh karena itu, metode pengajaran perlu ditingkatkan agar dapat lebih mendukung literasi sains siswa secara optimal.
