Abstract

The growth of the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia shows a significant increase, which triggers competition between Islamic banks and conventional banks. In this context, Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and bank size play an important role in influencing financial performance, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). This study aims to analyze the effect of GCG and bank size on financial performance with Non-Performing Financing (NPF) as a moderating variable. This study uses data from 10 Islamic banks registered with OJK during the 2019-2023 period, using purposive sampling method. The data were analyzed using panel regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to test the proposed hypothesis. The results showed that GCG and bank size have a positive and significant effect on ROA. However, NPF is not able to moderate the effect of GCG and bank size on ROA. This finding confirms the importance of good GCG implementation and effective risk management in improving the financial performance of Islamic banks. Although NPF does not moderate the relationship between GCG and bank size on ROA, risk management is key in maintaining good financial performance. An increase in the number of independent commissioners is expected to support better company conditions. This study concluded that GCG and bank size have a significant influence on the financial performance of Islamic banks. To improve financial performance, it is important for Islamic banks to optimize the implementation of GCG and manage financing risks well. Future research is recommended to expand the number of samples and variables studied in order to obtain more accurate and comprehensive results.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate and provide empirical evidence regarding the influence of profitability, leverage, and dividend policy on firm value. The research population comprises 141 financial data entries collected from 47 companies that were part of the banking sector between 2021 and 2023. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling. The sample was selected based on the following criteria: (1) companies listed in the banking sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2020–2023; (2) companies with complete financial report data; and (3) companies that consistently distributed dividends throughout 2020–2023. Based on these criteria, the final sample consisted of 60 financial data entries from 20 companies across three observation periods. This study employs a verification analysis method and utilizes panel data regression analysis as its analytical technique. The results of the hypothesis testing indicate that profitability and leverage have a positive effect on firm value, whereas dividend policy does not have a significant impact on firm value. Keywords: Firm Value; Profitability; Leverage; Dividend Policy; Banking Sector

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Kata Kunci: BUMDes; ayam pedaging; pemberdayaan masyarakat; pelatihan; ekonomi desa Abstract Cikoneng Village in Ciamis Regency possesses abundant economic potential, spanning agriculture, livestock, and home industries. However, the economic contribution of its Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) remains limited due to a lack of business diversification. Currently, BUMDes only manages one livestock unit focused on cattle and goats. This community service project aims to assist BUMDes in developing a new broiler chicken farming unit. The program focuses on strengthening institutional capacity, improving community skills, and creating new job opportunities. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method is applied to ensure that every stage aligns with local needs. The outcomes include a feasibility study document, technical training for villagers, the establishment of a productive working group, and dissemination through publications. This initiative is expected to enhance local revenue (PADes), improve community welfare, and build economic self-reliance based on local potential. Abstract

This study analyzes the short- and long-run relationship between economic growth, population, manufacturing, foreign direct investment (FDI), and deforestation on carbon emissions in ASEAN countries, one of the fastest-growing economic regions. Using annual panel data from 1991–2023 for nine countries, this study adopts the Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) and Error Correction Model (ECM) approaches. Diagnostic tests, including the Im Pesaran, & Shin (IPS) unit root test, confirmed the model's validity with variables having mixed orders of stationarity. The ECM estimation results show a significant long-run cointegration relationship. In the long run, GDP per capita, population, and the manufacturing sector have a positive and significant effect on carbon emissions. In contrast, FDI has a negative and significant impact. Furthermore, the Panel Granger causality test showed that no independent variable can significantly predict changes in carbon emissions. Overall, these findings provide an empirical basis for policies that balance economic and environmental aspirations. The main implication is the importance of formulating a strategy to decouple growth from emissions through an efficient industrial transition and by attracting sustainable investment.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the effects of credit risk and bank-specific factors on the financial performance of Indonesian banks, particularly Bank Groups Based on Core Capital (Kelompok Bank Berdasarkan Modal Inti/KBMI) 3 and 4, and addresses inconsistent findings in previous studies on bank profitability. Methodology: The study employs panel data from 13 commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2015–2024, yielding 130 observations. Financial performance is measured by Return on Assets (ROA), while credit risk is proxied by Non-Performing Loans (NPL). Bank-specific factors include Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR), Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO), Net Interest Margin (NIM), and Current Account Saving Account (CASA). The Random Effects Model (REM) with White cross-section standard errors is used for estimation. Findings: NPL and BOPO have significant negative effects on ROA, while LDR and NIM positively and significantly affect ROA. CASA has an insignificant effect on ROA. Novelty: This study provides evidence from large Indonesian banks and shows that operational efficiency and interest margin management are more important drivers of profitability than low-cost funding accumulation, offering implications for bank management and policymakers.
