Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of feeding containing ecdysteroid hormones to increase the growth and reproduction of mangrove crabs so as to produce optimal reproduction of mangrove crabs. This research was conducted from August to October 2021 at the Hatchery and Cultivation Technology Laboratory. The method used in this study was a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, the addition of ecdysteroid hormone 5.50 ml, 7.50 ml, 9.50 ml and 0 ml. The results showed that the addition of ecdysteroid hormones to the feed significantly affected the moulting rate, weight gain, shell length and width and the survival of mud crabs. The best treatment was found in the 5.50 ml treatment with a molting rate of 16 days, weight gain of 12.09 grams, length of 1.84 cm, width of 7.33 and survival rate of 100%. The water quality during the study showed that it was still in a good range or can be tolerated by mangrove crabs, the water quality range was temperature 26.5-27 oC, pH 7.0-8.0, DO 6.3-6.8 mg, and salinity 34 - 35 ppt.Keywords: Ecdysteroids; Growth; Mangrove Crab; Moulting; Reproduction.

Abstract

Microalgae are single-celled microorganisms with pigments and can produce photosynthesis to produce food and oxygen. The addition of liquid organic fertilizer from wild banana stem waste (Musa acuminata) and coconut husk as a source of nutrients can be used to increase the cell density of Spirulina platensis. This research was conducted on September 18-27 at the Hatchery and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries and Marine, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a non-factorial Complete Randomized Design (RAL) of 5 treatments and 3 repeats. The study is treatment A Control (Walne fertilizer), treatment B (Mixture of POC Waste of forest banana stems and coconut husk 12 ml / L of sea water), treatment C (Mixture of POC Waste of forest banana stems and coconut husk 14 ml / L of seawater), treatment D (Mixture of POC Waste of forest banana stems and coconut husk 16 ml / L of seawater), treatment E (Mixture of POC Forest banana stem waste and coconut husk 18 ml/L seawater). The results of this study showed that the use of POC from forest banana stem waste and coconut husk as a culture medium for Spirulina platensis had a real effect with F calculate 43,850 > F tabel (0.05) 3.48 to the peak population and had a real effect on the growth rate of Spirulina platensis with F calculate (26,884) > F table (0.05) 3.48.Keywords: Coconut husk; POC; Spirulina platensis; Wild banana stem waste.

Abstract

Socialization of service is aimed at salt farmers in developing geomembrane technology for smallholder salt businesses in accordance with local resource conditions and capacities, potential and capacity for salt development and marketing, and the availability of technology to increase sales of salt based on information technology, as well as technical management capabilities in one management. The problem with salt farmers is mostly coastal communities which are identical with helplessness, poverty and backwardness, especially from the socio-economic aspect. Traditional production technology, small production scale, and limited marketing and promotion strategies cause the products they produce are still far from prosperous due to low income. The low income of salt farmers makes it difficult for salt farmers to implement innovations and increase the productivity of salt farmers in various regions. The objectives of implementing science and technology activities for the community (PKM) are, firstly, geomembrane technology to increase the resource capacity of salt farmers in an effective and efficient manner, secondly to increase sales marketing results of salt production, thirdly to increase sales significantly through information technology promotion media, fourthly to create shelters. Ergonomically salt in Kuala Cangkoy, Lapang District. The specifications of the socialization results from community service produced can achieve economies of scale and be able to have salt carried out in an integrated manner in the marketing management system. Have a strong bargaining position in the market, both the primary product market and its derivative products based on information technology technology. The last is being able to increase the income of partner members collectively from the results of storing salt because the place is built according to ergonomic principles and from a marketing perspective.

Abstract

Hagu Teungoh Village is one of the villages located on the coast of Lhokseumawe City which has good potential in the field of fisheries. One of the business units that can support the economy of the people in this region is catfish farming. Therefore, it is necessary to empower catfish farmers so that the community knows modern spawning techniques which can later increase production which has an impact on community income. The purpose of this community empowerment program is to apply innovations to the community, especially catfish farmers in induction spawning activities, natural and artificial hatcheries, and enlargement. This community empowerment service activity is carried out by providing counseling and training related to induced catfish spawning techniques to produce superior seed stock. The approach method used is directly by providing information and practicing new innovative techniques directly. The results of the activity showed that the participants' knowledge level increased after attending counseling and training on hormonal catfish spawning techniques. 98.88% of participants knew the process of stripping catfish broodstock and caring for catfish fry, and 100% of participants knew the types of hormones and doses used for spawning. This counseling activity has a positive impact in overcoming the problems faced by catfish farmers. In conclusion, based on the survey results, the percentage of catfish farmers in Hagu Teungoh Village who know the techniques of hormonal fish spawning has increased dramatically.

Abstract

Aceh merupakan salah satu Provinsi di Indonesia yang menjadikan sektor pertanian sebagai tulang punggung perekonomian daerah.  Kota Lhokseumawe sebagai daerah penghasil minyak dan tempat beberapa pabrik pupuk berada, tak menampik bahwa sektor agraris banyak menghasilkan produk pertanian seperti tanaman perkebunan, tanaman pangan, dan tanaman hortikultura. Gampong (desa) Meucat Kecamatan Nisam merupakan salah satu gampong yang terletak tidak terlalu jauh dari kampus Universitas Malikussaleh,  Reulet  Aceh Utara. Kendala yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat Gampong Meucat yaitu belum bisa memanfaatkan  lahan perkarangan  secara maksimal,  sehingga tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat berkeinginan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat setempat  supaya dapat mengelola lahan perkarangan menjadi lahan yang produktif mulai dari pengolahan tanah sampai produksi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan dan pengetahuan masyarakat  Gampong Meucat  dalam memanfaatkan lahan perkarangan yang tidak menghasilkan menjadi lahan produktif sehingga dapat menghasilkan produk pertanian khususnya tanaman hortikultura (Sayur – sayuran), yang nantinya akan menjadi salah satu sumber peluang usaha yang bisa meninggkatkan perekonomian dan kesejahteraan masyarakat.Metode yang dilakukan pada kegiatan ini antara lain yaitu melakukan kunjungan awal ke lokasi pengabdian, menyusun program kerja untuk tahapan kegiatan pengabdian , melaksanakan penyuluhan secara langsung dilapang tentang cara pegolahan tanah, teknik budidaya tanaman, serta teknik pembuatan pupuk hayati  dan cara aplikasi pada tanaman. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakatyang dilaksanakan  di Gampong Meucat Kecamatan Nisam memperlihatkan keseriusan masyarakat  dalam setiap sesi kegiatan , sehingga terjadi interaksi untuk mengadopsi ilmu pengetahuan yang kita sampaikan, masyarakat akan mengimplementasikan di lahan perkarangannya masing – masing yang selama ini tidak produkti akan menjadi lahan produktif sehingga menghasilkan sayuran organik yang berkualitas dan bernilai ekonomis, ini merupakan salah satu peluang usaha dalam bidang pertanian

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Oodev and Turmeric flour on feed to accelerate the rematuration of female broodstock catfish for increasing seed production. Oodev hormone is believed to accelerate the maturation process of broodstock, while turmeric flour with its active ingredients can improve liver performance in the vitellogenesis process. The method was a non-factorial completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments are Control, (A) Oodev 0.3 ml/kg of feed, (B) Turmeric flour 5 gr/kg of feed, and (C) Combination of Oodev + Turmeric flour. The results showed that C treatment was the best treatment which produced a GSI value of 14.57 2.53%, period of rematuration was 32.33 4.16 days, egg diameter was 1.27 0.12 mm, fecundity was 22,939.97 880.38 eggs/kg of broodstock weight, fertilization rate was 80.18 9.75%, hatching rate was 79.80 2.88%, and larval survival reached 83.17 9.69%. Meanwhile, the specific growth of seed length in all treatments had no significant effect between treatments. The results of this study will certainly provide useful information for increasing catfish seed production both in Aceh and on a Nationally. This acceleration of maturation also has a positive impact in maximizing the available broodstock without having to increase the number of catfish broodstock to produce seeds of superior quality and benefit the cultivators.Keywords:EnrichmentFemale BroodstockPerformanceRematurationReproduction

Abstract

Tubifex worms are freshwater oligochaetes characterized by their bright red color and high nutritional content, consisting of 57% protein, 13.3% fat, 2.04% crude fiber, and 3.6% ash. Their natural populations have declined due to water pollution from waste, which reduces water quality, thus necessitating cultivation efforts. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of fermented sawdust and cocopeat as culture substrates on the biomass, population, and growth rate of Tubifex worms. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a non-factorial model consisting of four treatments and three replications: A (control: 80% mud + 20% chicken manure), B (80% fermented sawdust + 20% chicken manure), C (80% fermented cocopeat + 20% chicken manure), and D (40% fermented sawdust + 40% fermented cocopeat + 20% chicken manure). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that different substrate compositions had a significant effect on biomass, population peak, and growth rate. The best performance was observed in treatment B, which resulted in the highest biomass (13.32 g/container), the highest population peak (120,111 individuals/container on day 40), and the highest growth rate (3.09%). These results indicate that fermented sawdust supplemented with chicken manure is the most effective substrate for enhancing the growth and population of Tubifex worms.

Abstract

Padang Sakti Village, located in Muara Satu District and approximately 500 meters from the Malikussaleh University campus, predominantly features traditional aquaculture ponds. Farmers in this village have primarily relied on natural feed sourced from the ponds, although shrimp require pelleted feed for optimal growth. This activity aims to enhance shrimp farming practices through community service, focusing on the cultivation and production of pelleted feed utilizing waste raw materials. The primary objective is to equip shrimp farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for independent feed production. The methodology employed includes educational, participatory, and persuasive approaches to engage farmers effectively. Analysis of the training outcomes indicates that 90% of participating pond farmers expressed high satisfaction and demonstrated proficiency in ingredient mixing and pellet printing operations. In conclusion, this initiative not only imparts crucial knowledge but also fosters positive motivation among pond farmers, potentially leading to improved productivity in shrimp aquaculture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis hormon Oodev yang terbaik untuk mempercepat proses induksi maturasi gonad induk betina ikan nilem (Ostheochilus hasselti). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Fakultas Universitas Malikussaleh, Aceh Utara dari tanggal 18 Agustus sampai 10 September 2020. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan menggunakan 12 ekor ikan uji dari 4 perlakuan yaitu perlakuan A (0 ml/kg), B (0,3 ml/kg), C (0,5 ml/kg), D (0,7 ml/kg). Hasil uji ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa induksi maturasi gonad pada ikan nilem (Ostheochilus hasselti) menggunakan Oodev dengan dosis perlakuan A (0 mL/kg) menunjukan hasil berbeda sangat nyata dengan perlakuan D (0,7 ml/kg) terhadap tingkat kematangan gonad, indek kematangan gonad, fekunditas, dan diameter telur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan D dengan dosis 0,7 mL/kg menghasilkan nilai terbaik pada indek kematangan gonad (14,59%), fekunditas (39,923 butir), dan diameter telur (0,82 mm).

Abstract

Ikan Patin Siam (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) merupakan ikan air tawar yangbanyak dibudidayakan secara luas di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dosis terbaik dan yang paling bagus untuk pengenceran sperma serta mengetahui pengaruh pengenceran sperma menggunakan air kelapa muda dan gliserol terhadap motilitas spermatozoa, kelangsungan hidup spermatozoa, derajat pembuahan telur, derajat penetasan telur serta kualitas air. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Bulan Mei sampai Juni 2018 bertempatdi UPT Budidaya Dinas Pertanian dan Kelautan Kota Medan Tuntungan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan yaitu A (kontrol), B (air kelapa muda 60% + gliserol 40%), C (air kelapa muda 50% + gliserol 50%), D (air kelapa muda 40% + gliserol 60%) dan E (air kelapa muda 30% + gliserol 70%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motilitas spermatozoa, derajat pembuahan telur dan derajat penetasan telur tidak bebeda nyata tetapi berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kelangsungan hidup spermatozoa. Perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan B dengan pengenceran sperma menggunakan air kelapa muda 60% dan gliserol 40%.
