This research was aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram. Research design was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The sample of the research was 79 students and it was taken by using cluster random sampling technique and the data gathering used multiple choice items that consist of 20 items. The data analysis used t-test formulation. Based on the data analysis, t-test score was 1.804 and t-table 1.664 with signification level 5% and degree of freedom N ? 2 = 79 ? 2 = 77. It means that t-test was higher than t-table (1.804 > 1.664). Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. So, there was significant effect of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram.

This study aimed to investigate the relative effect of Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) teaching approach on tertiary EFL students’ writing. During two months, sixty EFL University students enrolling in basic writing course took part in this project and were divided into experimental and control groups. Pre- and post-tests were carried out to garner the intended data pertinent to the students’ writing scores. A mixed-design ANOVA was carried out to analyze the changes of writing scores of the respective groups since the assumption of homogeneity of regression slopes for the planned Analysis of Covariance was not met. The statistical evidence showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of writing scores at the significant value sig .00 < .05. The data also suggested that students who were taught using SRSD relatively outperformed their counterparts in the control group. The empirical evidence demonstrates that the use of SRSD as an instructional approach to some extent positively affects EFL students’ writing skill.

According to the analysis, it showed that the value of to(t obtain)= 2.31 is higher than the value of tt (t table)= 2.00 at the level of significance of 5% and the degree of freedom (df) 58. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was significant difference between speaking scores of students taught by using value Three-Step-Interview strategy and taught by using Think Pair Share strategy. In other words, Three-Step-Interview strategy has positive effect towards the students’ speaking ability.
