The population of this research was all of the first grade  students o MA Darunnajah Al- Falah which is consisted of one class. The samples were all population. Students had the test  before treated by  using  Point,  Illustration,  and  Explanation strategy and  the instrument used essay test and questionnaire. The result of the research showed that, there was significant effect of Point, Illustration, and Explanation towards students’ motivation in writing. The result of the data analysis showed that t-test was 4.684 and the result of t-table was 1.703 in significance level  0.05.It meant that the score of t-test was higher than t-table (4,684 > 1.703 ). Therefore, Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. From the result of data analysis above, the researcher concluded that through the implementation of PIE there is possitive effect towards students’ motivation in writing skill in the first grade students of MA Darunnajah in academic year 2019/2020.

Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram. Research design was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The sample of the research was 79 students and it was taken by using cluster random sampling technique and the data gathering used multiple choice items that consist of 20 items. The data analysis used t-test formulation. Based on the data analysis, t-test score was 1.804 and t-table 1.664 with signification level 5% and degree of freedom N – 2 = 79 – 2 = 77. It means that t-test was higher than t-table (1.804 > 1.664). Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. So, there was significant effect of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram.

Abstract

This study is generally attempted to find out whether there is or there is not the correlation between students’ motivation and anxiety in speaking for second grade students of SMPN 3 Janapria in academic year 2018/2019. The method of this research was applied correlative research. The population of this research was second grade students of SMPN 3 Janapria which consisted of 22 students, 11 male and 11 female. The technique which used to analysis the data was test formula. From the result of the data found out the score ofr count = 0,334. If the error level is set in 5%, and N = 22 so the r table =  0,423. It means r count is lower than r table or 0,334 ≤ 0,423. Therefore the alternative hypothesis is rejected. In other word there is no significant correlation between students’motivation and anxiety in speaking for second grade students of SMPN 3 Janapria. Key Words: Motivation, Anxiety, Speaking.

Abstract

The establishment of Integrated Islamic Schools addresses perceived gaps in the National Education System, particularly in addressing modern scientific and technological challenges. Concerns about declining moral values among students, including issues like substance abuse and juvenile delinquency, have driven this response. This study examines how integrated Islamic schools in West Lombok, NTB, incorporate Islamic values into English language education. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research focused on teaching tools such as syllabi and lesson plans, analyzing how Islamic values were integrated. The subjects included three English teachers and two vice principals from different schools. The analysis revealed that Islamic values were not incorporated into the syllabi, lesson plans, or teaching procedures, as required by JSIT (Integrated Islamic School Network). Interviews indicated that teachers neglected curriculum analysis and failed to define the Islamic values to be included, largely due to insufficient training. Consequently, the anticipated integration of Islamic values in English language learning has not been achieved. A review of lesson plans and syllabi confirmed this gap, highlighting a significant shortfall in the expected implementation of Islamic value integration in these schools.

Abstract

Abstract

English speaking play a vital role in global education and communication. In today’s globalized world, English speaking proficiency is not just an additional skill, but a fundamental requirement that supports various aspects of life, including education, business, and international relations. However, teaching speaking skills presents a number of challenges, including students’ lack of confidence, grammatical errors, mispronunciation, and limited vocabulary. This study aims to identify the types and frequency of feedback used by teachers in teaching speaking at SMAN 1 Batukliang. This study used a qualitative method with observation and interview instruments. The results showed that oral feedback was more dominant than written feedback. The types of oral feedback used included explicit correction, repetition, positive feedback, and metalinguistics. Meanwhile, written feedback applied was only positive feedback. In terms of frequency, oral feedback was given six times, while written feedback was only given once, with feedback most often occurring in the main activity and pre-activity stages. Teachers at SMAN 1 Batukliang used more oral feedback to correct mistakes and motivate students. Although written feedback was limited, this approach succeeded in creating a supportive learning environment.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Reciprocal Teaching strategy in improving the reading comprehension of descriptive texts among first-semester students in the English Language Program at FBMB UNDIKMA. Grounded in Vygotsky’s social constructivist theory, Reciprocal Teaching encourages active student engagement through four key strategies: predicting, questioning, clarifying, and summarizing. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group, the research involved 37 students and utilized pretest and posttest assessments to measure comprehension gains. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' reading scores following the intervention, as evidenced by a mean score increase from 66.84 to 76.89 and a statistically significant p-value of 0.000. These results suggest that the Reciprocal Teaching strategy is a highly effective approach for enhancing students’ understanding of descriptive texts, promoting not only improved academic outcomes but also greater engagement and metacognitive awareness. The study underscores the potential of Reciprocal Teaching as a practical instructional method, while also noting challenges such as time constraints and classroom management. Future research should explore broader applications of the strategy across diverse text types and educational settings.
