Abstract

The Mappadekko Documentary Film is a form of cultural preservation that raises the issue of the role of traditional leaders in preserving a nearly extinct annual tradition in Camba District. Mappadekko is a form of gratitude to God Almighty for the success of planting rice. The narrative structure of this film employs the 5W+1H framework for storytelling. The film employs an expository directing approach. The expository directing approach primarily documents the involvement of traditional leaders in the Mappadekko tradition through the use of narration and interviews. This style prioritizes informal shooting activities to convey the message directly to the audience, minimizing the potential for other interpretations. The Mappadekko documentary film conveys a message that urges the audience, particularly the younger generation, to prioritize cultural awareness and preservation

Abstract

The Gedhong Karya Baksana kitchen at the Surakarta Kasunanan Palace holds a vital function in serving meals for palace members and guests, reflecting both social and cultural values within the royal environment. However, its functional role has gradually declined due to the absence of spatial efficiency and modernization in supporting large-scale banquet activities. This study aims to redesign the interior of the Gedhong Karya Baksana kitchen by applying revitalization as an approach to enhance its usability while preserving its historical and aesthetic identity. The research adopts a qualitative method with a cyclical and linear design process characteristic of action research, enabling continuous evaluation throughout the design stages. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to capture spatial conditions, user behavior, and cultural context. The collected data were then classified, analyzed, and interpreted to identify design problems and opportunities for spatial improvement. The redesign outcomes emphasize the creation of an efficient and adaptive kitchen layout that integrates modern functionality with traditional visual elements. This study demonstrates that revitalization can serve as a sustainable design strategy for historical interiors, ensuring that modernization efforts remain respectful to cultural authenticity. The redesigned kitchen not only restores the building’s functional role but also encourages the palace management to revive adaptive and environmentally conscious culinary practices that align with contemporary needs.

Abstract

This study is to explore how the voiceover or dubbing can fulfill all the criteria of a good job in the perspective of Target Language user. To produce voiceover or dubbing in kid film program is really a multi-dimensional job. The first dimension is the linguistic aspects which rules two languages both source language (SL) and target language (TL). Sometimes we find a very long phrase or clause in SLand we finally get the voiceover or dubbing as a quite short phrase or clause and the vice versa. The second dimension is the scope of the social culture that also covers both sides. Sometimes, we find a very difficult terminology in SL to find the acceptability in TL. It is because the specific use relating toevery social and cultural background. English has many words that is hardly found in Indonesia Language. The next dimension is naturality. How a composition in SL should be voiceover or dubbing in the same naturality in the sense of TL. All of those conditions should be answered to the bestsolution by the director of voice over or dubbing. Therefore the results must consider the naturalness language dubbing for children. Vocabulary is selected in such a way that the story can get into the domestic children.The subject of this study is Kid Film Program ‘Pocoyo’ episode A Little Drummer and the Indonesian voice over or dubbing version.Keywords: dubbing, the source language, target language.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are, first, to understand the pattern of guidance, second, to understand the choice of programme, and third, to understand duration of watching television to outstanding students at Surakarta. The data analysis shows as follows : the students watching television in a various ways; firstly, 56 % usually being together with their parents, no matter father or mother or both, 25 % being together with other family or relatives usually with siblings , and 19 % usually watching television by himself or herself. This kind of variations appear as the affect of pattern of guidance that is parents’ responsibility to be together while watching televsion. Secondly, from the choice programme, students have various of watching television, namely : 59% state that they have only several favorite television programmes. Next, 41% state that they have lots of favorite television programmes. Therefore, there is no statement showing no favorite television programmes. This kind of variation is also shown that 51% choose kids program as their favorite television programe. In queing: there are 13% to music, 12% to news programme, 11% film, 7% to sports, 6 % to comedy. Thirdly, from duration of watching, it is also shown that students watching in various condition namely: 59% like to watch television in unscheduled time, 25% like to watch everyday and 16% like to watch in sparetime (holiday). This kind of results also show that they take 3 until 4 hours daily to watch television during their sparetime (holiday), then 0 until 2 hours daily during their non sparetime (studying time).Key words: pattern of guidance, chocie of programe, duration of watching television, outstanding students.

Abstract

The focus of the research is to explore creativity in the application of linking techniquesto improve English fluency in order to increase the understanding of the English languagethrough the medium of television news. The method used is a combination betweendemonstrations and simulations method, based on experiences through reading andlistening skills. Simultaneously both these skills are applied in the instructional processin the classroom by using English-language news items from Voice of America SpecialEducation Report. The result of this study is that technique of linking is found in theEnglish News presented in television. Linking technique was applied to the type ofconsonant-vowel as well as the vowel-vowel. Consonant-vowel found in more thanthe vowel-vowel. The more linking technique found the more it makes a rapid speechin the case of presenting English news. By knowing the characteristics of the applicationof the technique linking, it is expected that Indonesian audience in general and studentof television study program in particular can understand the news more easily.

Abstract

Opera Van Java is a television comedy drama show that the idea of the show isin the form of modern puppet show. It is said to be modern because the story is generallydeveloped from stories emerging in society. Opera Van Java is a comedy drama full ofartistic-arrangement elements that support the storyline in each episode. Statement ofthe problem in this research is how the setting, makeup and costume drama televisioncomedy Opera Van Java as a programming strategy through presenting closeness withthe audience. The purpose of this study is to describe how the setting, makeup andcostume of television comedy drama Opera Van Java as a programming strategy throughpresenting closeness with the audience. This study used a qualitative descriptive methodand its sample selection using purposive sampling technique. The selected sample wasepisode “Misteri Pesona Sinden”. The selection of episodes based on the local contentthat can be described and analyzed further. The results of the analysis on an episode ofthe television comedy drama “MisteriPesonaSinden” are artistic-arrangement elementslike setting, make up and costumes shown in things and objects are often seen, perceivedand used in everyday society. Abstract

This research is to know what Langen Swara program broadcasting in Jogja TV as atalkshow program which has locality culture contents based on its artistics. The purpose of thisresearch describes the artistic elements which are combined with locality culture.The form ofthis research is descriptive qualitative and basic research.Then,for the first time data is collecteduntil ready to summarized. Furthermore,interview is the best way to collect the main data.Theresults is that Langen Swara program used television artistic setting, make-up and wardrobe,acting, and lighting.All of the artistic elements and locality were from Banyumas as a simbol ofBanyumas culture.Keywords: Artistics,local identity,and Langen Swara

Abstract

Ketertarikan terhadap film Folklore: A Mother’s Love yang menghadirkan cerita tentang perjalanan hidup seorang ibu tunggal yang hidup bersama anaknya yang tinggal di kota metropolitan yang berisi pesan dan pembelajaran yang layak untuk diteliti dan dapat bermanfaat sebagai bentuk edukasi bagi seluruh masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan visualisasi kasih sayang seorang ibu dalam film Folklore melalui unsur sinematik dan dramatik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan data diperoleh melalui obervasi mendalam pada sekuen film sejumlah lima belas. Semua sekuen tersebut menyusun film Folklore: A Mother’s Love dari awal hingga akhir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya unsur dramatik dan sinematik diwujudkan melalui teknik pengambilan gambar yang terdiri dari ukuran gambar, sudut pengambilan gambar dan gerakan kamera. Pendekatan teknik pengambilan gambar dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan dominasi penggunaan ukuran gambar, sudut pengambilan gambar, dan gerakan kamera dalam memvisualisasikan kasih sayang ibu pada adegan-adegan dengan unsur sinematik seperti long shot dan medium long shot. Sudut pengambilan gambar didominasi eye level, Pergerakan gambar didominasi still. Unsur dramatik kasih sayang ibu yang disajikan dalam adegan-adegan digambarkan melalui kondisi sosial dan ekonomi kehidupan seorang ibu yang hidup di kota metropolitan Jakarta yang keras. Karakter Murni sebagai seorang ibu tunggal dengan visual seorang ibu yang sayang pada anaknya.
