Abstract

Successful learning is determined by various factors involved in it. These factors are not only derived from the personal individuals involved themselves, but also are the result of collaboration between human resources and other resources in the same context. This study tries to explore the factors that determine a person's success in science learning. The study is conducted by identifying the attributes that are considered important in the learning process. Those involved in this study numbered 65 respondents who acted as teachers, educators, tutors, or lecturers who taught and focused on science materials. The method used is a thematic analysis approach that specifically categorizes the themes that are considered important and becomes the initial indicator in determining the success of learning. The results of the study show that a success in the learning process of science depends on the aspects in it including good collaboration between students and teachers, self-management, methods used in learning, applied evaluation strategies, as well as external factors which are not directly determines the success of learning such as the cultural, social, and environmental context in which the individual grows and develops.

Abstract

One of the variations that can be implemented in biology learning is the use of media that functions as a teaching aid in the process of delivering materials and knowledge to students. This study used reproductive system which is considered as one of the compulsory materials in an attempt to improve students awareness so that risky behaviors causing reproductive disorders can be prevented. The study aims to describe the perception of students in Pontianak on the use of video on the material about reproductive system. The type of the study was quantitative using survey as the research method. The research subjects consisted of 291 grade XI high school students from nine high schools in Pontianak. The research instrument used was a closed response questionnaire with five criteria, constructed into two aspects, clarity and impact on leaner. The analysis of the questionnaire indicated that students showed a positive response on the use of video in learning about reproductive system (74.16%), with response to the clarity aspect reaching an average of 74.71% (positive category) and the impact on leaner aspect reaching an average of 73.61%. It can be concluded that the students respond positively on the use of video as a media to learn about reproductive system.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify how technology helped students develop their achievement by applying ICT-based learning media in thematic learning of Islamic Education at the Indonesian School in Bangkok. One of the important issues in elementary school is the need for more materials and resources for teaching and learning. Currently, technology is providing a better solution to solve the problem. In many cases, technology in education can improve students' knowledge and open their minds. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach of collecting data analysis consisting of interviews, documentation, and observation. The findings of this study explored the roles of students when they learned a technology by applying ICT-based learning media, which improves students’ motivation and inspire them to learn and provides a better understanding of learning in the classroom. However, these findings suggested that future studies could focus more on students' learning processes and teachers' abilities related to 21st-century skills.

Abstract

The Covid-19 situations impacted the teaching and learning which reducing our activities by using the online platforms. The booklet is one of the solutions to use during a covid-19 situation which provides the opportunity to improve the learning process. This study aims to discover students’ responses to use the booklet as learning media which contains the results of an inventory of medicinal plants in the biology courses. The questionnaire sheet was used as the instrument which contains the affective, cognitive, and conative aspects of students, and the questionnaire has 11 statement items. The participants of this study consist of 34 students. The results showed the average percentage of responses in each aspect were 77.59; 81.32; 83.19 to respectively the affective, cognitive, and conative aspects. It can be concluded that the developed booklet media received a positive response from students. However, in this paper, students’ responses using the booklet practices are described, as well as the reflections of their learning activities

Abstract

The excretion system are completely abstractive and complex, so it is desirable a tool that can visualize the excretion process and enable students to understand the modules well. The using of picture storybook is potential to increase the interest and activities of students. The response is a measurable reaction produced by somebody in analyzing an object that can generate an attitude. So, the purpose of this study is to investigate students’ responses to the picture storybook as a part of the teaching material which can facilitate students' thinking. This study involved the seven steps: the introduction, planning, and development of the initial product, initial field trial, revision on the main product, field trial, and revision on the operational product. The field trial was conducted to determine students’ responses to the dimension of cognitive, affective, and conative aspects through exploring three secondary schools around Pontianak, Indonesia.  Subjects in this study were students in grade 8 who had been educated with an excretion system with a total number of three students in each school for the initial field trials; while there were 12 students from each school for the main field trials. Instruments used in this study were a validation paper and a student response form. The results of the initial field trial showed the cognitive aspects (84.57%); the affective aspects (89.38%); and the conative aspects (89.46%). The implication of this research was about the possibility to use a picture storybook for increasing students' interests in science learning that we examined by the subject categories

Abstract

Using portfolio assessment to enhance students"™ science process skills was potentially impactful in the STEM learning activities. Its benefits to navigate students gaining comprehensive experiences is necessary. The objective of this study was to examine portfolio assessment in enhancing students' science process skills in STEM learning activities. A quantitative research approach was implemented, with a sample of 33 students between the ages of 14 and 16, drawn from Indonesian public senior high schools. The instrument used to collect the data was a test. It consisted of multiple-choice and open-ended questions. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The findings reveal key indicators of science process skills in STEM learning activities, identifying portfolios that influence students' engagement and understanding within the STEM learning activities. Importantly, this study highlights the critical role of encouraging students to ask questions, as it can significantly enhance their science process skills.

Abstract

Religious character is important to be applied from an early age to prevent moral decadence. Inserting or incorporating religious characters can be done in learning activities by using learning media. Pop-up book media is a book-shaped media with a real-like image display and can move. Meanwhile, LVEP is a value education that offers value activities so that students are able to explore and develop life values. The purpose of this research is to produce LVEP-based IPAS pop-up book media to improve religious character, teacher and student responses to the media. LVEP-based IPAS pop-up book media uses the 4D model which goes through 4 stages, namely the defining stage (define), the planning stage (design), the development stage (development), and the dissemination stage (disseminate). The data collection technique is qualitative from the results of interviews and quantitative data from the validation of material experts, media experts and teacher and student responses. Interviews were conducted with one class teacher, validation by one material expert, one media expert and 9 students. On the validation of the material that gets an average score of 4.6 with the category "Very Good" comes from the feasibility of presentation 3.9 and the feasibility of language 4. While the media validation obtained an average score of 3.95 with the category "Good" which comes from the feasibility of language of 4.5 plus the feasibility of language 4.8 and the feasibility of language 4.8. and feasibility of supporting learning 4.7. After that, an assessment was carried out to find out the responses of teachers and students to the LVEP-based IPAS pop-up book. The results of the teacher's assessment received a response with an average score of 4 with the category "Good" and the response given by students was 87% with the criteria "Very Good". Based on the results of the validation recapitulation, the LVEP-based IPAS pop-up book is suitable for use to improve the religious character of elementary school students. This research can be developed again or as reference material for further researchers in similar studies.

Abstract

Technology development in education has become essential for optimally, efficiently, and effectively achieving educational goals in 21st-century skills. The utilization of technology in education is relevant to the development of Society 5.0 and can be seen in the academic growth of global challenges. One of the solutions for implementing technology in education is the application of technology-based learning media, which can be developed using technological advancements, including 360-degree video-based virtual reality (V.R.). The results of this study explored that virtual reality can improve students' interactive and immersive learning experience as if they can feel the sensation of being in the environment depicted in the displayed video. Additionally, engaging learning experiences can enhance students' learning interests in primary schools. However, we suggested that students accustomed to online learning must readapt to conventional understanding in future studies. Therefore, one media that can attract students' learning interest in primary schools is 360-degree video-based virtual reality.
