Abstract

Abstract

Radiological imaging has an important role in diagnosis and detection of pulmonary tuberculosis.  The research aimed to determine the CT Scans of thorax in cases of pulmonary tuberculosis. The research method was a qualitative descriptive. Data collection was carried out by direct observation of examination process and  interview some radiologists, pulmonary specialists and four radiographers. There was a difference between theory and parameters at Al Ihsan Hospital. Using a scan slice thickness parameter of 0.75 mm because it iwas more detailed in viewing fine images of pulmonary tuberculosis, resulting in high detail. As well as using a low voltage of 100 kVp to ensure exposure to the dose received by the patient. The CT scan of thorax without contrast plays an important role in helping to confirm the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis to see whether there were other lesions that can support the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract

Radiation exposure in radiology installations poses high risks to staff and patients. To mitigate this, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to regulations, such as PERBAPETEN No. 4 Year 2020, is mandatory, including aprons, thyroid shields, Pb gloves, and Pb glasses. This study analyzed the availability and suitability of radiation protection PPE in the Radiology Installation of X Hospital based on PERBAPETEN No. 4 Year 2020 and Minister of Health Decree No. 1250 Year 2009. Using a Descriptive Comparative mixed-methods design, data were collected through observation (checklist sheets) and interviews at the Radiology Installation of X Hospital (April-June 2022). Results showed that PPE availability was incomplete; aprons and thyroid shields were 100% available and compliant with standards (apron 100% of 7 elements, thyroid shield 100% of 4 elements). However, Pb gloves and Pb glasses were unavailable, though they were in the procurement process. This incompleteness indicates a procurement management gap. Recommendations include expediting the procurement of missing PPE and regular monitoring and evaluation to optimize radiation risk management and standard compliance.

Abstract

Isodosis contour analysis using surfer type 21 software has been conducted in the radiology installation of Labuang Baji Hospital Makassar to determine the safest distance for radiology medical personnel while in the X-ray aircraft area. Measurements were carried out before and during exposure to a water phantom using an X-ray aircraft with a surveymeter. Radiation exposure rates were measured at 8 track locations in the X-ray aircraft room, consisting of 16 points located on the track (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) at 1 m and 1.5 m heights. The processed data showed that the highest radiation exposure dose was in the E-1 track (in front of the X-ray plane), which was 0.001791 mSv with a radiation dose exposure rate of 43.320 mSv/hour for a height of 1 m and 0.001228 mSv in the A-1 track for a height of 1.5 m with a radiation dose exposure rate of 29.7997 mSv/hour. The isodose contours also show variations in the number of passes and different colors for each radiation exposure dose value. The findings of this study indicate that the radiation exposure dose is 0 mSv at a distance of more than 2 m from the X-ray plane, so the radiologist is within safe limits to perform radiodiagnostic procedures.

Abstract

Urethrography is a radiological procedure performed to enhance the imaging quality of the urethra, particularly in cases involving difficulty urinating or urethral injury. This urethrography examination technique utilizes AP and RPO post-contrast projections, with a single introduction of contrast media and the use of a Brodney clamp. At RSUD (Regional General Hospital) dr. Soeselo, Tegal Regency, the same projections are used, but the contrast media is introduced gradually without the use of assistive devices. This study aims to explore the urethrography examination technique applied at the Radiology Installation of RSUD dr. Soeselo, focusing on the gradual introduction of contrast media and the use of a syringe without assistive devices like the Brodney clamp. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection took place at RSUD dr. Soeselo, Tegal Regency, from August 2024 to March 2025. The subjects of the study included one radiology specialist and three radiographers. The object of the research was the urethrography technique in cases of urinary retention. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Observations and interviews indicated that at RSUD dr. Soeselo, the examination technique was performed using two projections: plain AP pelvis and RPO post-contrast. The introduction of contrast media was conducted gradually to ensure that the contrast media properly entered the urinary bladder (VU), and no assistive devices like the Brodney clamp were used due to their unavailability at the hospital. Instead, a modified 20cc syringe with hypafix was utilized. The urethrography examination at the Radiology Installation of RSUD dr. Soeselo, Tegal Regency, was conducted using AP projection for plain pelvis imaging and RPO post-contrast. The contrast media was introduced gradually through the penile opening to ensure that the contrast reached the urethra and urinary bladder. Due to the lack of assistive devices like the Brodney clamp, a modified 20cc syringe with hypafix was used as a substitute.
