Abstract

Objective Teachers' social competence plays an important role in creating harmonious relationships and supporting the success of the learning process. However, several issues related to teacher-student communication, objectivity in treating students, and politeness in interactions during the learning process are still observed. This study aimed to describe students' perceptions of teachers' social competence at SMA Negeri 1 Payakumbuh, covering communication skills, objective behavior, and polite social interaction. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach. The population consisted of 866 tenth- and eleventh-grade students, with a sample of 104 students selected using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that had met the validity and reliability requirements and were analyzed using the mean score technique. The results revealed that students' perceptions of teachers' social competence were categorized as good, with an average score of 3.08. Communication skills obtained an average score of 3.26 (very good), objective behavior obtained 3.09 (good), and polite social interaction obtained 2.88 (good). These findings indicate that teachers' social competence has been implemented well; however, the aspect of polite social interaction still requires improvement. The implication of this study highlights the importance of strengthening teachers' social competence to foster more effective interactions.

Abstract

Objective: Transformational leadership among school principals is an important factor in supporting educational quality improvement through motivation, exemplary behavior, encouragement of innovation, and attention to teachers’ needs. This study aimed to describe teachers’ perceptions of principals’ transformational leadership in public senior high schools throughout Sawahlunto City based on four dimensions: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The population consisted of 84 teachers, all of whom were selected as respondents using total sampling. Data were collected through a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 50 items that had been declared valid and reliable. The data were analyzed descriptively using mean scores. The results showed that teachers’ perceptions of principals’ transformational leadership were categorized as good, with an overall mean score of 3.24. Across the four dimensions, idealized influence obtained a mean score of 3.23, inspirational motivation 3.24, intellectual stimulation 3.27, and individualized consideration 3.21. These findings provide empirical evidence regarding the implementation of principals’ transformational leadership and may serve as input for strengthening leadership practices in public senior high schools in Sawahlunto City.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing the Market Place Activity learning model on students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 38 Padang. Methods: The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of 203 eighth-grade students in the 2021/2022 academic year, while a sample of 40 students was selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent t-test. Results: The findings indicated that the implementation of the Market Place Activity learning model was categorized as moderate, with a percentage of 67.5%. Similarly, students' learning outcomes were also classified as moderate, with a percentage of 55%. The hypothesis testing revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), with a calculated t-value of 5.656, which was greater than the critical t-value of 1.686. These results indicate a statistically significant effect of the Market Place Activity learning model on students' learning outcomes. Implications: The implementation of the Market Place Activity learning model can serve as an effective alternative learning approach to improve pupils’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Main Objectives: This study aims to explore how informal entrepreneurial communities, specifically Tangan Di Atas (TDA) Makassar, foster an Entrepreneurial Paradox Mindset (EPM) among early-stage entrepreneurs operating outside formal startup accelerator ecosystems. Background Problems: Early-stage entrepreneurs face persistent strategic paradoxes requiring specific cognitive capabilities to navigate. However, empirical research examining EPM development within informal social networks remains limited, particularly in Eastern Indonesia where venture capital access and institutional support are constrained. Novelty: This study identifies the mechanism of "cerot/ cerita otentik" (authentic storytelling) as a emotionally charged, context-rich form of vicarious learning, while demonstrating that frugal innovation serves as a structural necessity rather than merely a strategic choice in resource-constrained regions. Research Methods: Employing an inductive qualitative design following the Gioia methodology, data were collected from 10 early-stage entrepreneurs active in TDA Makassar through in-depth interviews using the Critical Incident Technique, participant observations, and document analysis. Finding/Results: The study uncovers four core strategic paradoxes (Indeterminate Experimentation, Fragmented Persistence, Run while Waiting, and Grow while remaining Small) and highlights the community's role as a cognitive safe space facilitating EPM through authentic narrative sharing and collective reflection.

Abstract

The transformation of libraries into community knowledge hubs is hindered by gaps in human resource competencies, high levels of technology anxiety, resistance to change, and the limitations of conventional training programs, which are rigid and fragmented. This study aims to formulate a holistic, integrative, and dynamic strategic model for enhancing library staff skills in the era of digital disruption. Using a qualitative literature review method with descriptive content analysis, this study examines reputable scientific literature from 2021 to 2026. The results reveal that the success of hybrid service integration is determined by the synthesis of the Three Pillars of Competency: advanced IT skills (data security and big data analysis), active digital literacy and communication (librarians as information counselors), and mental resilience based on positive self-disruption. The findings confirm that mental resilience is a foundational pillar that mediates technology adoption and eliminates workplace resistance. As a concrete recommendation, library leaders and professional organizations (such as IPI) must restructure training curricula by integrating modules on pure computing, technology-related stress management, and virtual counseling to ensure the sustainable resilience of the librarian profession.

Abstract

Many Islamic educational institutions face high teacher turnover rates due to conventional recruitment practices that ignore spiritual dimensions and retention schemes that focus solely on materialistic-transactional aspects. This study aims to analyze and formulate an Islamic Human Capital Management (IHCM) model for recruiting and retaining educators based on Islamic values (amanah, itqan, and ikhlas). Using a descriptive-qualitative approach based on an integrative literature review, the data corpus was gathered from reputable databases (Scopus, WoS, SINTA) covering the 2021–2026 period and analyzed through content and thematic analysis. The findings reveal that integrating values into the Person-Organization Value Fit (P-O Fit) selection instruments effectively screens spiritual competence and prevents value dissonance at an early stage. Furthermore, retention is strengthened through a holistic Spiritual Reward System (ruhaniyah, fikriyah, jasmaniyah) and a work climate of ukhuwah islamiyah that fosters deep affective commitment. It is concretely recommended for school administrators and educational foundations to develop interview selection rubrics based on ethical dilemmas, provide structured non-material incentives such as umrah programs and Islamic study sessions, and establish sharia-compliant fair wage standards to maintain educator loyalty.
