Abstract

The availability of reliable road infrastructure is an important factor in supporting transportation and mobility activities in educational areas. Campus roads as supporting infrastructure for academic activities are required to be able to provide an optimal level of service along with the increasing volume and traffic load. The increase in traffic load on the campus roads of the Politeknik Negeri Lampung has not been balanced by adequate road infrastructure conditions. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a case study of flexible pavement thickness design planning to support the improvement of road service levels on the Politeknik Negeri Lampung. This study was conducted on the Main Road of the Lampung State Polytechnic with the survey being carried out from Monday to Thursday for 6 hours/day. The analysis results show that the recommended flexible pavement structure design based on the 2024 MDPJ for a design life of 20 years is a 60 mm thick AC-WC, a 200 mm thick Class A Aggregate Foundation Layer, and a 150 mm thick Class B Aggregate Foundation Layer, with a degree of saturation (DJ) value of 0.345 in the stable flow category, but vehicle speeds are starting to decrease.

Abstract

Tidal flooding increasingly affects low-lying coastal areas in North Jakarta, particularly Penjaringan District, where recurrent inundation disrupts settlements, infrastructure, and livelihoods. This study analyzes the spatial distribution of tidal flood-prone areas, identifies key factors influencing community adaptation, and examines prevailing adaptation patterns. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach integrated with spatial analysis, primary data were gathered through field observations, structured interviews, and questionnaire surveys in Pluit and Penjaringan subdistricts, supplemented by secondary data for mapping and hazard assessment. Descriptive analysis evaluated internal factors like socio-economic characteristics, residence duration, and risk awareness, alongside external factors such as environmental conditions and infrastructure. Highest flood exposure in low-elevation, high-density areas near the coast. Communities adapt via physical, economic strategies for livelihood continuity, and social responses like collective action. These enhance short-term resilience but face constraints from limited resources and environmental pressures. Community-based adaptation reduces vulnerability, yet requires stronger integration with spatial planning and coastal policies for sustainable risk reduction.

Abstract

Rapid population growth and urbanization in Semarang City, particularly in the Semarang Utara District, have placed significant pressure on the region's carrying capacity, especially in fulfilling the need for adequate housing. This study aims to analyze the residential carrying capacity in Semarang Utara District using a spatial quantitative approach through the Building Coverage Ratio (BCR) method. BCR is employed to assess the extent of land development and the availability of open space as indicators of sustainable residential environments. Data were obtained through satellite imagery analysis, documentation from related agencies, and field observations, then processed using GIS software to calculate BCR values for each sub-district. The results show that all sub-districts in Semarang Utara have BCR values exceeding 60%, with several areas surpassing 75%, indicating a very high level of development and critical carrying capacity. This condition leads to limited open space, environmental degradation, and increased disaster risks. The study recommends ecological-based spatial planning and the provision of green open spaces to restore the area’s carrying capacity in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive teaching materials using a project-based learning approach and examine their effectiveness in enhancing students’ learning independence. The study employed a development research design combined with an experimental approach, following the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The participants consisted of 64 undergraduate students in the Educational Technology program at Surabaya State University, divided into an experimental group and a control group using a posttest-only control group design. The developed teaching materials were validated by one media expert and one material expert. The feasibility results indicated that the materials were highly feasible, with a score of 100% from the media expert and 87.17% from the material expert. To test effectiveness, students in the experimental group used the interactive teaching materials for independent learning, while the control group relied on conventional materials. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring students’ learning independence and analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean score (M = 82.89) compared to the control group (M = 73.51). Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p < .001), indicating that the developed teaching materials had a positive effect on students’ learning independence. These findings suggest that interactive teaching materials integrated with project-based learning can effectively support independent learning in higher education contexts and provide a practical solution to enhance student autonomy.

Abstract

Semi-automatic cutting machines for battery electrodes are important tools in the development of the battery manufacturing industry, which aim to ensure precision and efficiency in the battery electrode cutting process. This research focuses on the design and construction of a machine capable of cutting cylindrical battery electrodes with high accuracy and good consistency. The machine consists of several main components such as an electric motor, pulleys, belts, shafts, cutting blades, hollow steel, steel plates, and bolts, which are systematically integrated to achieve optimal cutting results. The electric motor with a rotational speed of 1350 RPM serves as the main drive of the machine. This motor drives the pulley and belt to transmit power to the cutting blade, which is used to precisely cut the electrodes. A 20 mm diameter steel shaft was selected to connect the pulley and cutting blade, ensuring stable and efficient power transmission during operation. The research results show that this machine is capable of cutting a cylindrical battery electrode cutting with a width of 65 mm and a length of 950 mm in a single cut with a cutting time of 3 seconds. The machine's construction successfully cuts the electrode according to the specified specifications. Test results from four cuts indicate that the tool functions optimally and meets the standards.

Abstract

The relocation of the Haas V-F1 CNC machine in a vocational education environment requires a special lifting tool that is safe, precise, and suitable for the limitations of campus facilities. This study aims to design and validate a special lifting tool that is compatible with the characteristics of the 3,539 kg Haas V-F1 CNC machine at the Morowali Metal Industry Polytechnic. The research method used an engineering design approach that included collecting technical data on the machine, structural static calculations, CAD modeling, and strength validation through finite element analysis (FEA). The analysis results show that at a nominal load of 34,682 N, the lifting tool has a maximum Von Mises stress of 1.49 × 10⁸ N/m², a maximum deflection of 3.63 mm, and a safety factor (FoS) of 2.4, which indicates safe operating conditions and is well below the yield strength of structural steel. Gradual loading tests show that the structure still works elastically up to an additional load of 500 kg with a FoS of 1.3, but reaches a critical condition at an additional load of 650 kg with a FoS approaching 1.0. Thus, the lifting device is recommended to operate at a nominal load with a maximum additional load of 250 kg. This research resulted in a safe, practical, and feasible lifting device design that can be used as an operational standard for lifting CNC machines in vocational education environments.
