Abstract

This study is aimed to develop listening supplementary materials in the form of a workbook for tenth grade students of multimedia department of vocational high school. This study used the research and development model adapted from Borg and Gall. The product developed that was validated by the expert validators included the workbook, answer key, tapescript and CD of the audio recording.

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the factors that affect the students’ willingness to communicate in English in the classroom. This study employs a qualitative method, particularly the case study with the use of observation, questionnaire, and interview to collect the data. It can be concluded that there are mainly five factors that influence students’ willingness to communicate namely teachers, topic discussions, classroom environment, peers, and types of activities.

Abstract

The using of yes/no question is a productive tool for reaching the function of communication discourse. The aimed of this research is testified the function of yes / no question in implicature discourse on e-commerce advertisement. The sources of this research were 8 enterprises advertisement of e – commerce which had variation of e-commerce advertisements. This research is merged the conversation analyses and implicature on conversation. The question yes / no in implicature conversation have different functions, such as: ordering, asking, suggesting, and rejecting.

Abstract

Madura has various tourism destinations, ranging from tourism of natural wonders, culinary destinations, religious tourisms, arts, culture, and others. This study is intended to discuss the perspective of Madura tourism online promotion and the language used in each perspective to find the common pattern of the tourism online promotion. They are mostly presented in authenticity, strangerhood, and play perspectives, in positive ways although some are presented in negative message. The lexical aspects used are positive adjectives and superlatives to convey a very positive image of Madura tourism attractions or destinations.

Abstract

In the millennial era, cloud computing technology is an information technology that plays an important role in industrial and business operations. The use of big data technology applications and IoT (Internet of Things). On the one hand, advances in information technology have helped many human activities. On the other hand, advances in information technology lead to the lifestyles of people who tend to be individualistic and cool with their own world, causing behavior that ignores the surrounding environment. Art has a great opportunity as an educational medium to re-instate a sense of humanism. Humanism education at its core has the purpose of how it can be humanized, so education is considered successful while learners can understand themselves and their environment. Through performing arts, they are trained in body language, breathing, sound, and taste. Also, as an art community, the performers are trained in cooperation, mutual respect, social sensitivity, and more. The experience of branding is expected to be a meaningful learning medium for the culprit. One of the benefits of learning activities that are integrated with the performing arts is to train a sense of humanism. Performing arts are creative arts that involve the actors to act, imagine, and reflect on individual experiences in their artistic or non-artistic activities. That is, performing arts activities are activities that require the participation of individuals intellectually, emotionally, physically, verbally, and socially. Art education can be linked to various things because it is itself a multidisciplinary activity. The range of the motion of art education not only refers to the education of aspiring artists. Art education is more than just creating and understanding art and aesthetics but uses it in the context of humanist education. Therefore, art education may be able to provide spiritual discourse, morals, and pragmatic skills that are the basis of human life and living.

Abstract

A culture needs to be constructed to the members of the community with the aim to inherit a culture, instilling cultural values, and forming good behavior. In order to reveal the construction of cultural education in tetralogy of Laskar Pelangi novel, then a critical discourse analysis study is used. The construction of cultural education in tetralogy of Laskar Pelangi novel was constructed by three figures, namely the knowledgeable, religious, and government figures. In addition, the method of constructing cultural education in tetralogy of Laskar Pelangi novel uses three methods; they are beliefs, customs, and arts.

Abstract

College students are demanded to master a good speaking skills. This paper aims at analysing online game as a media of communicating and learning channel of students’ speaking skill. The research questions (1) Why do online game use as media in students’ speaking skill? (2) How the implementation of online game as media in students’ speaking skill. It took students from batch 2018 as the subject. This research analyzed speaking skill factors (internal and external factors), the benefit of online game on students’ speaking skills, the aspects of speaking skills which consist of language aspect (articualtion, intonation, stress, and diction) and non-langauge aspect (variation, fluency, suiatbility, expression, and attitude). It employed questionnaires, observation, and in-depth interview to collect the data. The results of this research shows (1) the factor of students’ speaking skill (internal and external factors)  (2) the aspects of speaking skills which consist of language aspect (articualtion, intonation, stress, and diction) and non-langauge aspect (variation, fluency, suiatbility, expression, and attitude).

Abstract

The aims of this study are (1) to develop the initial product design, (2) describe the results of expert validation and practitioner as well as field try-out,  (3) develop a product based on feed- back and suggestions from the experts,  and (4) describe the revised imaginations  model profile. This study uses a research-and-development model  proposed by Borg and Gall. The data were collected through interview guide and questionnaire. The results showed that the imagination model that is developed in the form of teacher guide book is suitable to be implemented for poetry writing teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This research is based on the urgent need to safeguard the continuation of local cultureswhen faced to any foreign culture’s existence which can easily turn invasive in the midst of 4.0 industrial era and modernization. The balian songs have their own roles and functions that can be recorded as digital-archieve as one of concrete ways to safeguard local cultures in this 4.0 industrial era. The balian welcoming song is sung as both the expression of joy and honor to all the guests attending and walking down the aisle to the bridegrooms. Its common functions are, among others: 1) opening the wedding ceremony while parading the groom to the bride’s house; 2) guarding or protecting the groom from various potential misfortunes and or dangers coming from outsider parties; and 3) showing that the groom belongs to higher, or mid to upper, social and economic classes. The balian song of advice is sung to accompany the groom walking down the aisle. The role is to help the groom steeling his heart and thus readying him to make any lovesake’s sacrifice for his future wife. The advice song functions, among other: 1) to open the pantun (local couplets equivalent to those of traditional English) to intentionally put off the upcoming groom, for such delay is deemed necessary to show the couple’s readiness to make common sacrifice in their later household and 2) to better prepare the future husband’s perseverance to overcome any oncoming difficulties. Thus, the digital recording and archieving of balian songs require both the government and society’s utmost cares and immediate acts as that digitalization of cultural assets can help protecting various Maanyanese Dayak’s cultural heritage, especially the balian songs, to all future generations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop multimedia developed using Lectora Inspire software based on the Self-Learning method to increase high school students’nationalism awareness. The multimedia development uses the 4D model. To see the improvements students’ nationalism awareness, appropriate media are integrated into construction exposition texts learning and researched using classroom action research. The result is a Self-Learning method multimedia product built using the Lectora Inspire software feasible and inspiring student awareness to internalize the values of nationalism with an average score of 61.8 (cycle 1) and 84.5 (cycle 2).
