Abstract

In the application of the concept of scientific integration, there are still hurdles in changing the learning curriculum and lecturers' understanding of Islam and science. Therefore, this study intends to examine the perspectives of lecturers at Islamic universities in Indonesia about the concept and implementation of science integration. This descriptive study employs three data-gathering methods, namely a literature review, in-depth interviews, and perception surveys using a two-tier system. 73 lecturers from the Faculties of Islamic Business Economy were recruited as participants. According to the findings of the analysis, the concept and implementation of science integration depend on the lecturers’ Islamic insight, where at the time of implementation 97.5% of lecturers answered that they believed they could teach the subjects. Moreover, the teaching contains Islamic issues with an Islamic scientific orientation; 76% of lecturers argue that as long as lecturers have attended training, seminars, workshops, and articles that review the integration of science according to the themes discussed. Furthermore, this research shows that the integration of science understood and implemented by lecturers is based on a dialogical approach that views the human relationship with God as a source of knowledge, which is a form of view and understanding of science that is open and respects knowledge types that exist proportionally and considerations as academics and Muslims.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (hereinafter, MBKM) or independence campus provides opportunities for students and lecturers to strengthen student-based learning programs. This program also supports students’ soft skills in their learning process. This paper aims to evaluate the implementation of this program in teaching and learning activities to improve the quality of education in private universities in Indonesia. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires through an online survey. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to analyze the data. The results show that for students who have participated in the MBKM program, it provides benefits such as providing additional competence in solving problems, improving soft skills, competence for job opportunities, and competence for post-college preparation. As for the lecturers themselves, they will increase their capacity by internalizing the MKBM program and previous programs before the MKBM, concentrating on preparing for the implementation of the MKBM program, having experience in conducting MKBM program guidance for students, and having expertise in designing learning goals (CPL) and credits’ conversion.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide a descriptive account of junior high school students' knowledge of mathematics, specifically their fluency with ranking numbers and root forms. A qualitative research approach with a descriptive focus is used in this study. Fifty-four students from Sidoharjo, Indonesia, a public junior high school, participated in the research. There were quizzes and interrogations to get information. Triangulation of methods was utilised to ensure the accuracy of the data collected. The analysis of data in this study consists of three parts: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. There are no gaps in high school pupils' ability to read, write, and do computations at a proficient level. Students in this group can build mathematical models and comprehend mathematics, but they struggle with the second question's requirement that they use such models to describe, explain, or estimate a phenomenon or event. Students in the lowest ability level will only be able to answer the first question correctly if they use concepts, processes, and facts to describe, explain, or estimate a phenomenon or event.
