Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of supervision, principal managerial as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of elementary school teacher discipline on the geometry material content. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative type. This research was conducted in schools. The subjects in this study were the Principal and Teachers. Data collection techniques using observation and interview techniques. The data analysis technique uses the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model which consists of data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data using triangulation of methods and theoretical. Based on the results of the research and discussion obtained, the conclusions in this study are: Implementation of Academic and Managerial Supervision of School Principals on Teacher Discipline. Principals and teachers carry out academic supervision when learning refers to aspects, namely: planning, implementation, and feedback. The planning process begins with the coordination of the supervision team, namely the principal, communication of objectives, and administrative preparation. Academic supervision is carried out through assessments by principals and teachers. Feedback is given in the form of discussions and awards for outstanding teachers. Aspects of assessment in the supervision and managerial of the principal include learning management, learning innovation, and attitudes and behavior. The process of implementing academic supervision during learning includes the planning, implementation and evaluation processes to foster teacher discipline towards school administration and responsibilities as teachers

Abstract

The implementation of learning at the Kerinci Islamic Institute (IAIN) refers to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). 21st century learning requires students to have a caring attitude towards the environment, communication skills, and cognitive learning outcomes. Observation results show that environmental care attitudes, communication skills, and student cognitive learning outcomes are still low. The formulation of the research problem is how to value the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the contextual approach-based learning model through the Pusako feast culture. The type of research is development research using the ADDIE design (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). The logical validation value is 87.58 with a very valid category. The validation value of field practitioners is 89.4% with a very valid category. The value of the practicality of the learning model is 89% with a very practical category. The learning model developed is effective to improve the attitude of caring for the environmentF count 12,407 with p-value = 0.048 < (α = 0.05), skills with p-value = 0.000 < (α = 0.05), and cognitive learning outcomes with p-value = 0.009 < ( = 0.05). The contextual approach-based learning model through the cultural feast of the Satisfaction has been very valid, very practical, and effective for improving environmental care attitudes, communication skills, and cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to see the effect of language environment programs which has been common in Islamic boarding school in Jambi, on students speaking performance. Through an ex post facto research design, the researchers would like to find out whether there is a significant difference between the students' speaking performance of those who involve in language environment programs and that of those who do not involve in the programs. Thirty-second graders of As’ ad Senior High Islamic Boarding School were selected purposively as the samples of the study. The results of the independent-sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference in the results of speaking performance for the students who were involved in language environment programs (M= 15.4, SD = 1.08891), and for those who did not involve in language environment programs (M= 9.3, SD= 1.04881; p=0.000). Besides, the students involved in the programs are considered better in terms of fluency than the students who do not involve in the programs.

Abstract

This study inquired about parental engagement (PE) in schooling focusing on secondary school students in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study also examined the existing differentials in parental engagements based on school type, geographical location and students’ academic level. To accomplish the objectives, descriptive research of a survey type of design was adopted. Multi-stage sampling procedure was utilized in selecting 1,296 students from 72 secondary schools. Questionnaire titled: “Parental Engagement Assessment Questionnaire” (PIAQ) was utilized as data collection instrument. Mean scores, standard deviation, t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were statistical tools appropriately used in analysing the collected data. The key finding make known that, the general level of parental engagement in schooling among secondary school students in Kwara State was moderate (GM = 2.78), while level of PE differs based on school type (t-value = 4.121, p =.000), geographical distribution (F = 3.402, p = 0.001) and students’ academic level (F = 3.463, p = .001). The study concluded that, despite the moderate level of PE in secondary school students schooling, significant disparity exists based on school ownership, geographic/senatorial distribution and students academic level.

Abstract

This type of research is a Quasi Experimental Design with the research design that will be used is the nonequivalent Control Group Design, in this study a certain treatment is given, namely the control class and the experimental class. The number of samples in this study were 58 students. The data collection method used is the activity of learning to read the beginning of grade I students and writing skills tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the first by using a descriptive statistical approach, inferential statistics and manova hypothesis testing. The results showed that: 1) the activities of students in the experimental class using the VAKT method with a total score of 52 divided by the total score multiplied by one hundred with a total result of 81.25. From these results it can be concluded that the VAKT method can affect the ability to read at the beginning of class I; 2) the statistical test of the experimental class is 83.59 and getting a good classification score, it can be concluded that the use of the VAKT method can affect the initial writing skills of first grade students; and 3) test the Manova hypothesis with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the VAKT method on students' reading and writing skills

Abstract

This paper examined critical thinking as a correlate of students’ achievement in physics in Sokoto State, Nigeria. This study adopted ex post facto research of the co-relational type. The population for the study was Senior Secondary School II (S.S.S. II) students in Sokoto State. The sample consisted of 731 S.S.S. II offering physics proportionately selected from Senior Secondary Schools across the three senatorial districts in Sokoto State, Nigeria. Research instruments employed to elicit data for the study were the Critical Thinking Inventory (SCTI), and Physics Achievement Test (PAT). The instruments were validated by experts in science education and physics giving reliability coefficients 0.86 and 0.76 respectively. The data gathered were analysed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficients (PPMC) and Fishers-z transformation (Z-test) statistic at .05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that: there was a statistically significant relationship between students’ critical thinking ability and their achievement in physics (r = 0.23, p < .05); there was no statistically significant difference in the strength of the relationship between students’ critical thinking ability and their achievement in physics in favour of female students; and there was a statistically significant difference in the strength of the relationship between critical thinking ability and physics achievement in favour of public schools. It was recommended that students should be trained on how to think critically to be able to predict correctly their achievement in physics.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate EFL students’ experience on Google Doc use in the final research project consultation. The participants in this research were students from the English Education Department. It consisted of eight students, five students from class A and three students from class B. The students are 20 to 22 years old. This study used a reflection sheet. The qualitative data were analyzed using students’ reflections based on usability concepts. Data analysis is carried out after the data is collected in Google form. The results of the study, in terms of Learnability, reveal that the Google Doc platform facilitates students in the online consultation process. Satisfaction revealed that students were satisfied with the use of Google Doc because there are many features available on the platform. The errors of the user in Google Doc during the final research project consultation showing the number of mistakes made by the users.

Abstract

Technology has played an important role in human life including education. Teachers in this century are required to have technology skills for language teaching. However, in order to understand their level of literacy and challenges faced in implementing technology a study is required. The present study investigated student teacher`s literacy and challenges in using technology. This research was conducted by using mix method with sequential explanatory design. Sixty-one students of the seventh semester of English study program Universitas Jambi were selected as the participant in this research. In the quantitative phase Researchers used survey to collect the data to measure their experience, views, and literacy on technology using a likert scale of one to five. In the qualitative phase, the data were collected using interview towards eighth students are selected purposively from the high score and low score and analyze it by using content analysis. The survey showed that the participating student teachers have: 1) adequate experiences in using technology(x=3.66), 2). Positive views on technology(x=3.56), 3).average literacy on technology(x=3.87). The results of the interview showed some challenges faced by student teachers in implementing technology, The lack of facilities is the biggest challenge. The implication of the research is also discussed

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out students' perceptions of digital media YouTube in primary and secondary level students in the city of Kendari. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study show the perceptions of elementary and secondary level students understand Youtube media. Elementary and secondary level students, on average, understand the Youtube application with the highest Percentage on the SD/MI level at 58.33%, SMP/MTS at 66.67%, and SMA/MA/SMK who understand and fully understand at 88.89%. On Youtube features, elementary to secondary level students understand 36.11%, 41.67%, and 44.45%, respectively. For the benefits of the Youtube application, elementary to secondary level students understand, and the data obtained are 38.89%, 52.77%, and 55.55%, respectively, with the rest of the participants already fully understanding. In addition, students understood the Youtuber profession and obtained data from 33.33%, 50%, and 61.11%, respectively. Also, students also understand the dangers or negative impacts of using Youtube, with successive data of 30.55%, 69.45%, and 77.79%. Overall can, it is said that students at the final secondary level, namely SMA/MA/SMK, understand more about the Youtube application, its features, benefits, the Youtuber profession, and the dangers of Youtube compared to junior high school students, namely SMP/MTS and the elementary level of SD/MI.

Abstract

This research explains the application of the quantum teaching method to increase student learning motivation in Islamic religious education subjects. To know how to increase student motivation in learning before and after the application of the quantum teaching method. The method used in this study is a Quasi ExperimentQuasi-Exp mentality Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique in this study is a nonprobability sampling technique using total sampling (census) with class VIII A as the experimental class and VIII B as the control class. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out with 1) interviews, 2) documentation, 3) tests (pretests and posttests), and 4) dissemination of questionnaires. Data collection techniques in the form of pretests and posttests are intended to measure the increase in student learning motivation. The results obtained from this study show that there is a significant influence of the application of learning methods in quantum teaching on increasing learning motivation. This is evidenced by the acquisition of the average posttests value of the experimental class is 80, while the average value of the control class is 70. The statistical tests result obtained T hitung 2.13 and T label value is 1.99, where the T hitung > Ttabel then Ha is accepted, this means that there are differences and increases in student motivation in learning before and after the application of the quantum teaching method in Islamic religious education subjects.
