Abstract

This study examines the relationship between students' perception of Indonesian courses and their impact on academic performance. Through a quasi-experimental design, this study combines quantitative surveys, social media sentiment analysis with big data-based NLP, and statistical regression of academic records from 1,200 students at 10 universities in Indonesia. The study results show that students' negative perception of Indonesian courses has a significant negative correlation with their academic achievement. Through regression and correlation analysis, it was found that students with higher levels of negative sentiment towards this course tended to have a lower Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), with R² = 0.23 (p < 0.001) which suggests that the negative perception of the course can explain the variability of a GPA of 23%. These findings suggest that an unpleasant learning experience can significantly affect students' academic performance, especially when associated with teaching methods, curriculum relevance, and students' academic burden. The implications of this study confirm that curriculum reform and technology-based pedagogical innovation are not only needed to improve students' learning experience, but also play a role in optimizing academic outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the representation of freedom as a manifestation of the spirit of nationalism in high school students in Kediri Regency. The approach used is qualitative with a descriptive research type. The research subjects involved students, homeroom teachers, and school principals. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles & Huberman model, which consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that most students understood the concept of freedom from the laws and regulations, while others still had a wrong understanding. The phenomena experienced by students, including the abuse of freedom by unscrupulous officials, affect their perspective on the value of freedom and nationalism. Therefore, government officials must act with discipline as a form of character education for the younger generation. This study contributes to strengthening the nationalist spirit of the millennial generation by using Kartodirdjo's theory as a foundation for understanding the dynamics of the national spirit amidst the challenges of the times.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyse teachers' pedagogical competence in dealing with children with special needs in inclusive schools. This research is important because the government has established an inclusion system in all schools. Inclusive schools have students from different backgrounds. So that teacher competence becomes very important, especially pedagogical competence, because this is the key to successful learning, in qualitative research conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Seeing field conditions directly, looking at documentation of lesson plans to evaluations, and interviewing the teachers involved can provide more in-depth information: triangulating time, sources, and techniques tested data. The results explained that Fun and Play Kindergarten and Talenta Kindergarten teachers had the best pedagogical skills. This can be seen from the pedagogical competence of teachers according to Permendikbud Number 137 in assessing aspects of child development; evaluating theories of play and learning; creating development activities that are by the curriculum; organising educational development activities; and developing children's potential.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Green School Program in enhancing student character education at Adzkia Islamic School Boarding School in South Tangerang City. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the study adopts the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model. The research involved 10 informants, including the principal, teachers, dormitory caretakers, and high school students. Data were collected through structured interviews, observations, and documentation, and analysed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings indicate that while the Green School and character education programs are being effectively implemented, several areas require improvement, such as the availability of environmental infrastructure, curriculum integration, individual-level evaluations, and reporting mechanisms. Theoretically, this study supports the role of environmentally-based education in shaping student character. Practically, it provides insights for school administrators and policymakers to enhance sustainable character education through comprehensive planning and infrastructure. Future research is recommended to develop assessment instruments and explore program impacts quantitatively across different school levels.

Abstract

This study investigates the local expertise of Nyangu (traditional rice cooking) in the Sundanese community as a source of cultural character education principles, emphasizing health, food security, and moral-social aspects.  The study uses an integrated literature review strategy to synthesis qualitative and quantitative data from many disciplines, including cultural anthropology, education, and nutrition.  Thematic analysis yielded three key findings:  (1) Nyangu boosts health by producing resistant starch, lowering the glycemic index, and lowering the risk of diabetes and obesity compared to modern rice cookers. (2) It incorporates food security through zero-waste practices, repurposing leftovers into traditional meals (e.g., opak, pepes), and demonstrates sustainable resource management in line with the SDGs.  (3) The practice instills moral-social values such as community eating (botram) and food reverence, which promote social cohesiveness and cultural identity. The conclusions underline the importance of Nyangu in sustaining Sundanese history in the face of globalization, with implications for incorporating its values into official and informal education curricula. This integration can potentially strengthen cultural identity, encourage sustainable practices to counter cultural degradation, and call for a legislative framework linking traditional practices with modern educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of students' creativity skills in learning, develop a Team Project-Based Flip Classroom Learning Model, and determine the learning model's effectiveness. The research was conducted at one of the vocational schools in Sukoharjo Regency. This research was conducted as research and development using mixed methods in data collection. The instrument's validity for measuring the learning model was evaluated using the Aiken V coefficient, and the model's effectiveness was determined using the N-gain score. The results showed that the team project-based flip classroom learning model is reliable and efficient. This model has three main steps: independent learning, face-to-face learning, and guided learning for self-reflection. These findings imply that teachers, particularly at the vocational education level, can utilize the team-project-based flipped classroom learning model as an alternative learning strategy that emphasizes material mastery and optimizes student creativity development. This model is also relevant for applications in subjects requiring technical skills and creative problem-solving.

Abstract

Building character through self-identification in students of Indonesian Overseas Schools in Saudi Arabia is an important study to discuss. Students' character does not grow only by accepting theories and concepts in classroom learning, but it requires habits in their daily lives so that it becomes a habitual attitude. This study aims to capture the attitude of respect for students at SILN Saudi Arabia towards themselves, others, the environment, and the multicultural relationships they experience. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the concept's foundation of moral education by Syekh Al-Zarnuji in the book Ta’lim Muta’alim and Will Kymlicka's multicultural theory as the basis for its study. The main finding in this study is the uniqueness of students' characters, shown in positive attitudes in daily life. This good attitude positively affects students' personal lives and has implications for their survival when interacting with others. The recommendation in this study is the need to build synergy between schools, guardians of students and the community, so that the development of good character in students can be maintained when they are at home, at school, or while doing activities in the community, as well as in their lives in the future.

Abstract

International Islamic boarding schools (IIBS) are updating their educational curriculum by utilizing digital media in the learning process as a solution to the lag of students in the global era, especially in accessing information literacy during college selection. This study examines the use of digital media using the Uses and Gratifications theory with a descriptive qualitative approach, conducted in IIBS, which has international networks and a curriculum. Informants consist of students, teaching teams, and information technology managers. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and participatory observations. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model that includes data reduction, presentation, and concluding. The results show that the literacy level of students of IIBS is quite good compared to other Islamic boarding schools, because the administrators of international Islamic boarding schools understand the importance of digital media in the globalization era. Digital utilization is limited so as not to disrupt the activities of Islamic boarding schools. In addition, international-standard Islamic boarding schools can change the bad stereotypes of students, proven by alums of Islamic boarding schools being able to compete with the community, especially in the best university competitions and scholarships.
