Abstract

Siam weed leaves are one of the plants that function as wound medicine. This study aims to produce a stable ointment dosage form. Siamese weed leaf extract is formulated in the form of ointment with a variety of bases consisting of a hydrocarbon base, absorption, water soluble and emulsion. Evaluation of physical stability includes organoleptic testing, homogeneity, pH, dispersion, viscosity and flow properties carried out before and after forced conditions. Forced conditions were carried out with stock storage for 10 cycles at 50 and 350. The results of the analysis showed that the viscosity of the preparations in all formulas changed after storage at 50 and 350 for 5 days. However, the statistical results show that all formulas did not experience significant changes between before and after the stress condition treatment.

Abstract

Research of effect toksisitas of n-heksan faction of the beruwas laut (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.)Roxb.) leaf at prawn larva of Artemia salina Leach have been done as a mean to determine potency of toksisitas and value of LC50 beruwas laut (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.)Roxb.) leaf. As control used n-heksan. Before treatment, prawn egg of Artemia salina Leach incubated at some stage and after 48 hours prawn larva of Artemia salina Leach are ready to given treatment. Hereinafter n-heksan faction of beruwas laut (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.)Roxb.) leaf with concentration 0,1 ; 1 ; 10 ; 100 µg/ml in sea water enhanced 10 prawn larvas. For control, done same treatment. Perception done after 24 hours treatment by counting dead prawn larva. Result of perception indicate that value of LC50 n-heksan faction of beruwas laut (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.)Roxb.) leaf 4,17 ± 2,59 µg/ml. So that can be expressed that n-heksan faction of beruwas laut (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.)Roxb.) leaf have potency as anticancer, this matter is based by standard of Meyer (1982) expressing that a natural materials compound have potency of anticancer if value of LC50 <1000 µg/ml.   Key word : Toksisitas Test, Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.)Roxb, Brine Shrimp Lethality Test

Abstract

Sustained release tablet is one of drug delivery system with an extended release drugs which use polymer  to control the release of drug from its dosage form. The advantages of this dosage form is can produce fixed blood levels are without repeat the administration of the unit dose. The aim of this study is to obtain the most optimum  polymer as a matrix in sustained release tablets of Diclofenac Sodium. Sustained release tablets made by direct compression  method from a mixture of three types of polymer combinations. F1 consists of a combination of HPMC polymer: Etilsellulosa, F2 is the combination of HPMC: Xanthan Gum and F3 consists of a combination of HPMC polymer: Na. Alginate. Each combination of polymer use the same ratio is 1: 2. Tablet evaluations include the  weight uniformity of tablet, size, drug content and dissolution test. Result showed  that the most optimum combination of polymer as a sustained release tablet matrix is F1 even F2 have an optimum dissolution.
