Abstract

Diversity has become a national identity that shows Indonesia's image as a country that respects differences. However, this has also become one of the triggers for conflict of disharmony in the form of cases of religious blasphemy. The “Desak Made Darmawati” case is an example of a religious blasphemy conflict in Indonesia. Through a viral video circulating on social media, he shows himself presenting statements that tend to corner Hindu religious beliefs. Reflecting on these problems, researchers are interested in studying more deeply the implications of the "Desak Made Darmawati" case as a reflection of learning in cultivating moderate people in Indonesia. In this research, several problem formulations were formulated, namely related to the chronology of cases, the urgency of religious moderation in Indonesia, as well as reflections on learning from the "Desak Made Darmawati" case. This research uses a qualitative type of research with a case study approach, followed by using data collection methods, namely library or literature studies, as well as Miles and Huberman's interactive data analysis techniques. The results of this research show that the implementation of religious moderation is still an urgent matter to prevent religious polemics. On this basis, the case of "Desak Made Darmawati" can provide a reflection of learning for religious people to become moderate people, especially from a humanist, religious and legal perspective in Indonesia.

Abstract

Various sources of yoga literature that are still relevant today are used by yoga practitioners and academics in developing this realm of logical and practical thinking, such as: Vedanta, Bhagavad Gita, Siva Samhita, Yoga Vasista, Goraksasatakam, Gheranda Samhita, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Sutra Patanjali, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabrata and various Balinese local wisdom belonging to the Sivaistik lontars. These sources of yoga literature make yoga not only traceable through its practical aspects but also allow for a search of the philosophical aspects of yoga implied in these literary sources so that yoga academics and practitioners can increase their knowledge and understanding of the scope of yoga teachings. This study aims to analyze the depth of the philosophy and practice of yoga contained in the Siva Samhita. The theories used are the theory of philosophy and semiotic theory. This study uses the method of collecting documents and literature. The data analysis technique was carried out qualitatively by describing it descriptively. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the study of yoga metaphysics contained in the Siva Samhita script is a study of God, maya, the soul, the microcosm of the body, and the nature of karma; (2) the study of the epistemology of yoga in the Siva Samhita script covers the nature of knowledge, the importance of the role teacher and the nature of liberation.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought major changes to the education sector, shifting the learning process from face-to-face instruction to online and later to limited face-to-face learning (PTMT). These changes demanded significant adaptation by schools, teachers, and students, particularly in maintaining learning quality under challenging conditions. Despite these obstacles, Public Junior High School 1 Denpasar and Public Junior High School 2 Denpasar demonstrated resilience and continued achievement, particularly in Hindu Religious Education and Ethics. This study aims to examine the implications of educational dynamics on the learning of Hindu Religious Education and Ethics in these two schools. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The analysis was grounded in McClelland's motivation theory. The results show that the educational dynamics have influenced three key aspects of student learning: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. These findings highlight how learning processes in both schools successfully adapted to challenges while still nurturing students’ academic abilities, character, and cultural-spiritual values.

Abstract

The right to a healthy environment is fundamental for every Indonesian citizen, yet environmental challenges persist. Addressing these issues is not solely the government's responsibility; educational institutions also play a vital role. Schools must nurture future generations with the knowledge, skills, and ethics needed to promote sustainability. The government’s strategy to raise environmental awareness includes integrating environmental education into curricula. This education aims to develop individuals who can actively contribute to environmental protection for both present and future generations. A suitable model for this integration is education based on the values of Tri Hita Karana (THK). THK emphasizes (1) nature preservation, (2) maintaining a healthy school environment, (3) ensuring school cleanliness, and (4) nurturing plant life. By embedding these values into education, schools can enhance students' awareness of environmental protection and empower them to contribute actively to sustainability efforts.

The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research sample consists of 10 fifth- and sixth-grade students from SD Negeri Hindu 1 Bona and 5 teachers. The results indicate that the process of strengthening local wisdom through P5 activities begins with a diagnostic assessment of the students, followed by determining activities based on local wisdom themes, such as dharmagita, dance, and the creation of various religious ceremony tools. The implementation of P5 starts with the contextualization phase, which includes discussions of various information related to the project activities, followed by the action phase, which is conducted two to three times. The process is then continued with a reflection phase and follow-up. The conclusion is that P5 activities at SD Negeri Hindu 1 Bona are crucial for reinforcing the values of local wisdom, especially through activities integrated with Balinese culture. Each project is designed to develop students' potential while fostering a love for local culture.

Abstract

Faith is one of the objects of study in Living Religion studies that highlight religious beliefs experienced in the everyday lives of individuals in society. This research applies content analysis and uses two objects: various articles on the relationship between religion, welfare, and work ethic as material  objects, and Susan Crawford Sullivan’s theory in Chapter Three of the book Living Faith: everyday religion and mothers in poverty (2011) as the formal object. Sullivan’s theory is used as a lens to examine several articles. The sentence in the final paragraph, “poor working mothers, mothers caring for their children, or single mothers – will connect with Congregations, labor unions, political organizations, or communities that can help them fight fo better opportunities and work environments” summarizes Sullivan’s theory on the reform of professional ethics. Living faith in professional societies should live in the nation’s work ethic, the work of the Church and religious communities, the purgatorial code of ethics for welfare stakeholders, the morality of religious elites and commoners, and within the mothers who are occupied and vocationally dedicated to adequately prospering “now” in this world.

Abstract

This article explores constructive leadership in the regional governance of Gianyar Regency, inspired by the Asta Brata teachings—eight Hindu leadership principles symbolizing cosmic powers such as the sun, moon, and wind. It examines how the Regent of Gianyar (2018–2023) embodied these values in public policy, citizen services, and participatory, sustainable development. A qualitative ethnographic approach was employed to explore the philosophical and social dimensions of Hindu leadership. Findings reveal that applying Asta Brata fosters visionary, ethical, and welfare-oriented leadership. Core values such as justice (Yama), generosity (Kuwera), and spiritual motivation (Agni) are evident in infrastructure development, education, health services, and community empowerment. The study concludes that Asta Brata remains relevant in modern governance as a philosophical and ethical foundation, particularly in the context of decentralized regional leadership.

Abstract

The Siat Yeh tradition is a cultural heritage rich in local wisdom values in the Jimbaran Traditional Village, Badung Regency. This village is unique in carrying out a traditional ceremony called Siat Yeh, a spiritual ritual that involves the community together. The younger generation is actively involved in carrying out this ceremony, observing and practicing the noble values inherited from their ancestors. Through Siat Yeh, Jimbaran Traditional Village is able to maintain its cultural identity amidst the ever-growing flow of modernization. This research aims to document and analyze in more depth the meaning and role of the Siat Yeh Tradition in the lives of the people of Jimbaran Traditional Village. Through a qualitative approach, this research will reveal the cultural values, philosophy and social impacts of implementing Siat Yeh.
