Abstract

This research was based on the collaboration skills and learning outcomes of students in class VII D SMP Negeri 4 Madiun which were not optimal. The purposes of this study were to increase collaboration skills and math learning outcomes through the PBL model. There were 32 students of class VII D SMP Negeri 4 Madiun as the research subjects. This class action research used Lesson Study design and quantitative descriptive analysis method with observation, questionnaire and test techniques. This research was separated into two sections, namely pre-cycle and cycle (cycle I and cycle II). The results showed that the average collaboration ability increased in the pre-cycle 57.34%, cycle I 70.47%, and in cycle II 80.23%. While the average learning outcomes of students also showed an increase in the pre-cycle (75.05), cycle I (81.29), and cycle II (86.21) with the applied KKTP of 75. As well as the percentage of learning completeness improved in the pre-cycle 71.88%, cycle I 81.25% and cycle II 87.50%.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of combining Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Experiential Learning in enhancing students' understanding of mathematical concepts, specifically the volume of solid figures, in the 7G class of SMPN 4 Madiun. The research was conducted over two cycles. The first cycle implemented PBL, while the second cycle integrated PBL with experiential learning. The research method employed was classroom action research using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and participatory observations. Qualitative descriptive analysis was conducted to identify patterns of interaction and student responses during the learning process. The findings indicated that students were more active in discussions, used visual aids effectively, and overcame difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts in the second cycle. Quantitative analysis using paired sample t-test showed a significant improvement in understanding mathematical concepts in the second cycle (). The conclusion confirms that integrating PBL with experiential learning effectively enhances student engagement and comprehension of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This research is classroom action research that aims to determine students motivation of mathematics learning. This research uses the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) learning model with question cards in the Madiun context of the Warriors City, that carried out in two cycles using the Kemmis & McTaggart stages. Subjects of this research were 32 students in class VII C at SMPN 4 Madiun for the 2023/2024 academic year. The data obtained in this study through a student learning motivation questionnaire was analyzed in the form of percentages. The results of the research were obtained showed that the learning motivation of class VII C students in the pre-cycle was 48.52%, cycle 1 was 69.01%, and cycle 2 was 84.42%. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the use of the STAD learning model with question cards in the Madiun context of the Warriors City can increase the learning motivation of class VII C students at SMPN 4 Madiun towards mathematics learning.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' conceptual understanding and creativity in dynamic fluid materials through the application of the Discovery Learning model assisted by simple props. This type of research is a classroom action research involving grade XI science students at the Adzkiya Integrated MA as a sample. Data collection instruments include creativity assessment sheets and multiple-choice tests to measure concept understanding. The research was carried out in two cycles from April to May 2024. The results of the research in the first cycle identified several obstacles, both in terms of teachers, students, and technical aspects. Shortcomings in the first cycle include non-optimal division of groups that are not conducive, lack of enthusiasm and motivation of students to conduct investigations and problem-solving, and exceed the specified time allocation. In the second cycle, there was a significant increase. Students show higher enthusiasm and motivation to learn, as well as good liveliness and cooperation in group discussions, so that the learning process runs more effectively and in accordance with the set time allocation. These results show that the application of the Discovery Learning model assisted by simple props can improve students' conceptual understanding and creativity in dynamic fluid materials. This study suggests optimizing group division and time management for maximum results in future learning implementation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create an instructional video teaching basic sewing techniques to fashion students in grade X. Another objective is to assess the effectiveness of the video and understand student responses. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using a Four-D validator approach. The validator includes media experts, subject matter specialists, and feedback from a small scale of six students and a limited scale of 30 participants. Research findings indicate that the 9-minute instructional video covering basic techniques such as blanket stitch, whip stitch, back stitch, and chain stitch can be utilized both online and offline. The video media is deemed suitable with expert ratings of 85% for media experts and 86% for subject matter specialists. With student responses reaching 93% in the small scale and 84% in the limited scale, indicating a "strongly agree" category, it can be concluded that the instructional video for sewing techniques is highly recommended for use in basic sewing subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Math Playground, an educational game in improving students' number sense abilities by considering the aspect of sociomathematical norms. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample was 60 students in grade IV of SDN Kramat Jati 24 which were divided into two classes: one class as an experimental group using the educational game Math Playground, and one class as a control group that did not use the game. Data were collected through number sense tests before and after the intervention, as well as questionnaires on sociomathematical norms. Data analysis was carried out using the N-Gain test, hypothesis test with Independent Sample t Test, and two-track Anova test. The results of the N-Gain test in the experimental class showed an average N-Gain value (%) of 68.3947, while the average N-Gain value (%) in the control class was 42.0701. The results of the t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The results of the two-track Anova test showed a significance value in the Sociomathematical Norms section of Sig. 0.000 < 0.05, and a significance value in the Class * Sociomathematical Norms section showed a result of Sig. 0.191 > 0.05.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop an ethnomathematics-based digital module that is valid and effective in improving mathematical understanding. The type of research method is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. The results show that the ethnomathematics-based digital module is declared valid and effective for improving mathematical understanding. The validation percentage results for material and ethnomathematics context experts were 80%, media experts 80%, teachers 90%, small group tests 71.95%, and field tests 78.80% showing valid criteria. Furthermore, the t-test for two independent samples shows that there is a difference in the average mathematical understanding of the two sample classes with a sig(2-tailed) significance value of 0.000 < 0.050. The effectiveness of the ethnomathematics-based digital module on opportunity material is shown by an increase in mathematical understanding in the experimental class, namely an average N-Gain score of 0.800 in the “High” category, higher than the control class with an average N-Gain score of 0.310 in the “Medium” category. Therefore, the conclusion obtained is that the ethnomathematics-based digital module on opportunity material is effective in improving mathematical understanding.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the differences between two models (PjBL and PBL) in terms of curiosity towards creative thinking abilities, as well as to observe the interaction between the learning models in relation to curiosity towards creative thinking abilities. This experimental study used a Posttest Only Control design in a quasi-experiment. The population consisted of 10th grade students at MAN 1 Kota Pekalongan, with a research sample covering class X6 (experimental class) and X7 (control class), which were selected through a simple random sampling technique. Test instruments and questionnaires were used as data collection techniques. The data analysis technique employed was two way ANOVA. Based on the data analysis results, it is shown that , , 3,85) thus rejecting . The conclusion drawn from the analysis is that there are differences in the effects between the PjBL and PBL models in terms of curiosity towards students' creative thinking abilities, and it can be inferred that there is an interaction between the learning models in terms of curiosity towards creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

The curriculum structure at the elementary school level is characterized by significant variability, which necessitates that educators and teachers possess a comprehensive understanding of the essential competencies involved. One of the fundamental competencies closely related to student learning is pedagogical competence. This research is a quantitative descriptive survey study. This study aims to analyze the profile of the pedagogical competence of prospective elementary school teachers in teaching mathematics. The subjects of this study consisted of 64 individuals selected using random sampling. The analysis results of the pedagogical competence profile of prospective elementary school teachers in teaching mathematics generally showed a reasonably competent outcome, with an average score of 4.37. These results indicate that each prospective elementary school teacher already possesses a sufficient foundation of competence to develop classroom learning activities. This is because pedagogical competence prioritizes the ability to manage the classroom, understand students, and comprehend the assessment needs given to students.

Abstract

One of the problems in learning mathematics is the lack of student's ability to solve story problems. Story questions can provide many benefits for students. Improving mathematical literacy skills is one solution that can be done to overcome this problem. Improvement can be done through a habituation process. Based on the problem description, mathematical literacy questions were developed which could be used as material for students' reflection. This research uses a design research approach with preliminary research stages, a prototyping stage, summative evaluation, and systematic reflection and documentation. The mathematical literacy question instrument that had been developed was also validated by two validators and the results were very valid. Next, the instrument was tested on class VIII students at one of the MTs in Kudus, and the majority of students had low mathematical literacy skills. This condition also influences the low ability of students to solve story problems. Based on the research results, it is necessary to carry out more intensive training in mathematics learning.
