Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the difference in improving students' self-efficacy between those who use the Discovery Learning teaching style and those who use traditional learning methods. The study included samples from class XI TSM 1 as the experimental group and class XI TSM 2 as the control group. The study utilized purposive sampling as the chosen strategy, which involves gathering data based on specific criteria. The experimental class is exposed to the implementation of the Discovery Learning instructional model, whereas the control class adheres to a conventional learning framework. The results of this study indicate that there is an inequality in the development of self-efficacy between the students in the experimental class and those in the control class. The experimental class saw a considerable enhancement, whereas the control class experienced a minor increase. Therefore, it can be deduced that the experimental class, which employed the Discovery Learning learning model, saw a more significant enhancement in self-efficacy in comparison to the control class that utilized the conventional learning model.

Abstract

This quantitative descriptive study aims to analyze in-depth the level of knowledge of local food ingredients among Culinary Arts students specializing in the Cookies & Candies course in the Vocational Education (PVKK), Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa, Academic Year 2023/2024. The urgency of this research lies in the importance of students' understanding of the potential of local resources to support sustainable culinary innovation. The instrument used was a knowledge questionnaire validated by material experts and learning evaluation experts to ensure data accuracy. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical techniques by calculating the average percentage score at each cognitive level. The results revealed that the students' overall level of knowledge of local food ingredients was in the very high category with an average score of 91.30%. Specifically, cognitive indicators covering aspects of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation all showed satisfactory results. This finding confirms that students have a strong level of knowledge in integrating local food ingredients in pastry product processing, which is expected to be the main capital in vocational education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of online games on the language politeness of fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Kalinampu 1, located in Bobok Tempel, Seloharjo, Pundong, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The background of this research refers to APJII (2023) data, which reported that out of 8,510 respondents, 23.29% had played online games, and 42.23% of them spent more than four hours per day engaging in gaming activities. This research employed a quantitative survey method with 33 fifth-grade students from SD Muhammadiyah Kalinampu 1 as respondents, selected using a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire containing indicators for the online game variable and the language politeness variable. Data were collected through the direct distribution of questionnaires in the classroom and completed individually by the students. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The findings indicate that online games have a significant influence on language politeness, with an r-square value of 0.379, meaning that online games contribute 37.9% to students’ language politeness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of errors made by 11th-grade students in solving story problems involving systems of linear equations in three variables (SPLTV) using Watson’s error analysis framework. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with 31 students from SMA Negeri 5 Medan as participants. Data were collected through written tests consisting of SPLTV story problems, teacher interviews to determine the research class, and classroom observations to support findings on students’ problem-solving processes. The data were analyzed based on Watson’s eight error categories. The findings revealed that the most frequent errors were the use of inappropriate procedures, omission of essential data, absence of final conclusions, and leaving answers blank. The main contributing factors included limited understanding of SPLTV concepts, weak algebraic skills, carelessness, and inconsistency in solving problems. These findings suggest the importance of enhancing conceptual understanding and procedural accuracy through effective learning strategies.

Abstract

This study is a quasi-experimental design aimed at determining the effect of Wordwall Educational Games on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students in Social Studies (IPS). The design of this study is a nonequivalent control group using a pretest and posttest. The sample consists of two classes, namely the experimental class using Wordwall media and the control class using conventional learning. The test instrument used has been shown to be valid and reliable. Data were collected through tests and analyzed with normality tests, homogeneity, and t-tests to test the hypothesis. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class increased significantly compared to the control class, with a t count (4.665) > t table (1.680) and a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. IPS learning using Wordwall media is proven to be better than conventional learning in improving students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the positive and significant effect of critical thinking, collaboration, mathematical resilience on mathematics learning outcomes partially and simultaneously. The population of this quantitative correlational research method was all seventh grade students of SMPN 5 Banguntapan, with sample of 61 students (VII A, C) selected through cluster random sampling. The research instruments were a mathematical collaboration and resilience questionnaire, a collaboration observation sheet, and a critical thinking test that were tested to be valid and reliable. Data were analyzed using correlation analysis, multiple linear regression, t-test, and F-test that met the prerequisite tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity). The results showed a positive and significant effect between critical thinking, collaboration, mathematical resilience on students' mathematics learning outcomes, partially (sig. 0.000≤0.05) and simultaneously (29.1%). This study is expected to be a reference for further research related to the effect of critical thinking, collaboration, mathematical resilience on mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to measure and describe the level of epistemic knowledge of junior high school students in Medan City on the subject of energy crisis. The research approach uses a descriptive quantitative method with a sample of 92 ninth-grade students selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a 15-item essay test that had been validated and proven reliable. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics through the calculation of average scores, frequency distribution, and the percentage of achievement for each epistemic aspect. The results showed that the students' level of epistemic knowledge was in the moderate category with an average of 58%, indicating that their understanding of how science works, especially on the issue of energy crisis, was not yet optimally developed. These findings emphasize the need for a learning model that places greater emphasis on evidence-based argumentation, the use of scientific models, and the exploration of the nature of science. Further research is recommended to integrate inquiry-based learning designs to test the effectiveness of interventions in improving students' epistemic knowledge.

Abstract

This bibliometric study analyzed 309 Scopus-indexed documents (2007–2026) to examine research trends integrating Virtual Reality (VR), electric bicycle conversion, and vocational education. The study used a bibliometric approach to map scientific developments at the intersection of VR, e-mobility, and vocational education. Findings indicate that this field is rapidly developing, with an annual growth rate of 3.72% and a very young average document age (2.08 years). China, India, and the United States dominate publications, while Europe leads in international collaboration. Through thematic mapping, VR was identified as a key link bridging sustainability, transportation safety, and smart city technology. VR and electric vehicle development were among the Basic Themes, while transportation safety emerged as a Motor Theme with strong momentum. However, the analysis revealed a critical gap: the lack of engagement with vocational education and e-learning topics. The lack of exploration of VR as a training tool for electric bicycle conversion in vocational high schools suggests a broad research opportunity. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating immersive simulation and competency-based learning to prepare a skilled workforce in the future sustainable transportation sector.
