Abstract

The ability to think critically is one of the profiles of Pancasila students that students must possess in the independent curriculum. Critical thinking skills are one of the abilities that students need in solving problems. This research aims to describe the implementation of interactive Science ebooks based on PBL to enhance the critical thinking skills of students in the topic of environmental pollution. The research design used is quantitative descriptive. The research design used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of the study is all seventh-grade students of SMPN in Yogyakarta. The sample of this research is the seventh-grade student’s one of the junior high schools in Yogyakarta, selected through simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used is a multiple-choice critical thinking test with five indicators. Indicators of critical thinking abilities are explaining, evaluation, concluding, analysis, and designing strategies. The results showed an improvement in critical thinking skills through the N-gain test of 0.8, indicating a high category. The average indicator of students' critical thinking skills who obtained the highest score was the explaining indicator with an average of 90.5%, while the indicator with the lowest average among students' critical thinking skills was the analysis indicator with an average of 70.01%. This indicates that the use of Science Ebook Innovation Based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) can enhance the critical thinking skills of students. Abstract

Sound is one of the most critical components of singing. A lack of sound understanding can affect students' ability to sing due to the lack of use of learning media in class. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness and feasibility of Powtoon-based animated video learning media on singing abilities in third-grade students using the 10-step Research and Development (R&D) research method developed by Borg and Gall. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of product data analysis in the form of learning media validation were carried out by experts in the field of materials and media with a percentage of 83.75% and 87.5% with the criteria of "very feasible." The effectiveness of the developed media is known based on the increase in the percentage of students' pretest and posttest scores on the knowledge aspect of 0.43% in the "moderate" category and 0.31% in the skills aspect in the "moderate" category. The results of the teacher and student response questionnaire to the media obtained a percentage of 79.57% with the "very decent" criteria. Based on this, portion-based animated videos can improve students' sound understanding and ability to sing and are suitable for use as a support for the learning process in elementary schools.

Abstract

Carrying out assignments through scientific investigations is one of the most meaningful learning experiences for students. In addition, these activities can also have a positive influence on students' interest in learning science. In Indonesia, scientific investigation skills are a skill that students must possess. However, the fact is that there are still many students who have not mastered these skills properly. Therefore, this study aims to look at students' scientific investigation skills through Practices of Scientific Investigation (PoSI) using an explicit instructional approach. This study used the Quasy Experimental Research method, with a pretest-posttest control group design research design. The results obtained indicate that the five skills in PoSI seen in this study have not all been mastered perfectly by students, there are some skills that are still not possessed by students. Overall, the investigative skills (PoSI) of students in the treatment class showed better results when compared to students in the control class. The use of the explicit instructional approach applied in this study helps students carry out the five skills in the PoSI. The five skills in question are skills in making problem formulations, making hypotheses, designing experiments, analyzing experimental results, and making conclusions on experimental results. Habit is needed in developing some of the skills in the PoSI in students.
