Abstract

Customary areas in Indonesia, including Kasepuhan Karang, play a crucial role in forest conservation and climate change mitigation. According to data from the Indigenous Territory Registration Agency (BRWA), the Kasepuhan Karang customary area covers 1.081 hectares, with land cover composition including primary dry forest, settlements, mixed dry agriculture, and rice fields. The methods used in this study include GIS analysis and remote sensing with high-resolution imagery from PlanetScope, as well as field data verification. This study aims to analyze the potential above-ground carbon stocks in the customary area of Kasepuhan Karang, Banten Province. The results show that the primary dry forest land cover has the highest biomass potential of 38.507 Mg and carbon stocks of 18.099 Mg C. The total carbon stocks in the Kasepuhan Karang customary area are 42.986 Mg C, with varying distribution across different land cover classes. Mixed dry agriculture, which dominates this area, also has significant biomass potential and carbon stocks. These findings emphasize the importance of sustainable land management to optimize carbon sequestration potential and support climate change mitigation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of learning concentration, identify influencing factors, examine the relationship between learning concentration and learning outcomes, and explore teachers' efforts to address students' concentration difficulties among fifth-grade students at Purwoyoso 01 State Elementary School in Semarang City. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach with a saturated sampling technique, involving all 27 fifth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation over three days, dividing students into three groups to obtain in-depth information. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students' learning concentration levels were generally in the moderate category, averaging 70.33%. 37.04% of students were categorized as having high concentration, 37.04% moderate concentration, and 25.93% low concentration. Factors influencing learning concentration included physical health, learning environment, learning style, and motivation. Students with higher learning concentration tended to achieve better learning outcomes. Teachers' efforts to overcome concentration difficulties included using various learning methods, strengthening motivation, and creating a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

Sarimukti landfill serves as a waste disposal site. Leachate generated from waste accumulation is discharged through pipelines into multiple retention ponds. This study aims to assess contamination levels in leachate deposits by analyzing the magnetic properties and morphology of magnetic minerals collected from four retention ponds, along with measurements of pH, EC, and TDS in the pond water. Magnetic susceptibility values range from 37.4 – 409.5 (×10⁻⁸) m³/kg, indicating ferrimagnetic mineral dominance. The  values range from 0.81% - 5.96%, where  >2% is often associated to pollutant-contaminated soils. A negative correlation between  and  suggests a minor contribution of superparamagnetic grains from pedogenesis. Scanning Electron Microscopy - Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) analysis identifies spherule and hedral magnetic mineral shapes, with O and Fe as dominant elements and minor Ti, indicating magnetite and titanomagnetite presence. Other elements, including C, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, and Mn, likely originate from anthropogenic sources.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) integrated with the local culture of Hem Re Yegokhe in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school teacher candidates in a multicultural area. Using an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, this study began with a quantitative pretest–posttest measurement using an instrument based on the five dimensions of the California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST), and continued with qualitative exploration through interviews and observations. A total of 173 students were divided into experimental and control groups. The results showed that the integration of the IBL approach and local cultural practices significantly improved critical thinking skills, especially in the dimensions of interpretation, analysis, and inference. The dimensions of evaluation and explanation experienced a more moderate increase, which was associated with the limited time of the intervention. Thematic analysis supported the quantitative findings and emphasized the role of cultural context in encouraging deep reflection and contextual awareness. The findings also revealed a gap in achievement between students from 3T and non-3T areas, indicating the need for scaffolding strategies and strengthening intercultural competence and social empathy. This study provides an empirical contribution to the development of a locally relevant and socially inclusive cultural-based pedagogical model. Implications include strengthening teacher education curricula, lecturer training, and policies that support the integration of local knowledge as a learning resource. Further research is recommended to be conducted longitudinally, develop culturally based assessment instruments, and explore other cultural practices as learning contexts.

Abstract

The learning environment plays a crucial role in shaping students' motivation, especially in mathematics, a subject that often triggers anxiety and demands high reasoning skills. This study aims to analyze the influence of the learning environment's physical, social, and emotional dimensions on students' motivation to learn mathematics at SMPN 4 Siborongborong, a rural school with unique challenges. Using a quantitative explanatory approach with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 30 eighth-grade students through adapted and validated instruments: the What Is Happening In this Class? (WIHIC) questionnaire for learning environment and the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) for learning motivation. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 25. The findings reveal that the emotional dimension of the learning environment significantly affects students' motivation (β = 0.347; p < 0.05), while the physical and social dimensions do not show statistically significant effects. The model explains 53.2% of the variation in learning motivation, indicating a strong relationship between the learning environment and student motivation. The results underscore the importance of fostering a favourable emotional climate in the classroom to enhance engagement and reduce math-related anxiety. These findings contribute to developing evidence-based strategies to improve mathematics learning outcomes in rural educational settings.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the challenges and opportunities of implementing green data centres in Indonesia, focusing on regulatory influences, technological advancements, financial implications, and competitive advantages. Primary research was conducted through interviews with key stakeholders, including data centre providers, regulatory experts, energy suppliers, members of the data centre association, representatives from training institutions, and climate and energy economists. Secondary research drew from academic papers, published articles, and industry reports to supplement the findings. The study identified significant challenges in transitioning to green data centres in Indonesia. Key issues include the state electricity company PLN’s reliance on coal for electricity and the limited availability of renewable energy power plants, despite the country’s abundant renewable energy resources. Financial obstacles were noted, such as high initial capital expenditures (Capex) for advanced cooling systems and generators, and high operational expenditures (Opex) for electricity and fuel. However, the adoption of green technologies can reduce long-term Opex by improving energy efficiency. Regulatory gaps and the absence of targeted incentives further complicate the transition to green data centres. Adherence to international standards can provide a framework for sustainable practices, but there remains a significant talent gap in the data centre industry. Strategies to overcome these challenges include adopting renewable energy through Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), implementing advanced cooling technologies, and utilizing energy-efficient servers and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools. Collaborating with suppliers who meet green criteria is also critical. Transitioning to green data centres offers a competitive edge by attracting clients with green targets and reducing emissions. However, higher initial costs may deter providers, making long-term financial planning essential. This study provides valuable insights for governments and industry stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of sustainable data centre development as part of Indonesia’s journey toward a greener economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation process, and assessment of the Independent Curriculum implementation in physics learning for Grade X students at public senior high schools (SMA Negeri) in Polewali Mandar Regency. This research employs a quantitative descriptive analysis method. The independent variable in this study is the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, while the dependent variable is physics learning. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 1,022 Grade X students in Polewali Mandar Regency, who served as the research subjects, as well as through interviews and direct observations with 10 Grade X physics teachers in the region, who also served as research subjects. The validity of the questionnaire instruments, interview guidelines, and observation guidelines was ensured through expert validation. The analysis results indicate that: overall, the planning of the Independent Curriculum implementation in physics learning has been carried out effectively; overall, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in physics learning has been carried out effectively; and overall, the assessment implementation of the Independent Curriculum in physics learning has also been carried out effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the morphological diversity and phylogenetic relationships of six species from the Annonaceae family at the Purwodadi Botanical Garden using a phenetic approach. The background of this research is based on the importance of character-based identification to support taxonomy, conservation, and plant classification within the Annonaceae family, which is known for its high diversity. The research began with field exploration and specimen identification, followed by morphological characterization focusing on stem, leaf, petiole, and flower traits. Data acquisition was conducted by direct observation and measurement using tools such as calipers, rulers, and color tables. The morphological data were analyzed using Hierarchical Cluster Analysis and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with SPSS 25.00 software to determine phylogenetic relationships among the species. The results revealed two major clusters: the first includes Mitrephora polyprena, Stelechocarpus burahol, Orophea enneandra, and Polyalthia bullata, with a similarity index of 73.2%, and the second consists of Annona muricata and Miliusa horsfieldii, with 59.3% similarity. PCA results indicated that leaf width, leaf length, petiole length, leaf color, and stem surface were the most influential morphological traits. These findings demonstrate that the phenetic approach is effective for analyzing phylogenetic relationships and can contribute to conservation strategies and biodiversity management.

Abstract

Educational Forests are greatly needed by higher education institutions, especially those studying forestry. Various activities can be carried out by students, lecturers, and related parties to be involved in research in order to develop science and knowledge so that they can make real contributions, and empower communities around forest areas to be competitive so that they do not have a high enough value for forest resources, especially wood forest products. In addition, the existence of educational forests is considered capable of mitigating climate change at a micro level. The research was conducted in the Tadulako University Educational Forest as shown in the picture above. The stages of this research consist of two, namely a ground check by taking random samples of trees. Then the second is to identify local community wisdom using qualitative methods with the Rapid Rural Appraisal approach. This research was conducted in the Tadulako University Educational Forest with a direct observation approach. The results of this study found that the land in the forest is still maintained by implementing a forestry system in the form of, where the community utilizes the forest by taking non-timber forest products, rattan, and air ecosystem services.

Abstract

Inflammation is the body's physiological response to harmful stimuli, such as infection and trauma, which can lead to tissue damage. The long-term use of synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs has adverse side effects, so safer alternatives to natural ingredients are needed. This study aims to test the anti-inflammatory activity of ethanol extract gel preparations of star fruit leaf (Averrhoa bilimbi L) in mice (Mus musculus). The method used is the method of carrageenan induction on the soles of the feet of mice to observe the effects of inflammation. Gel preparations were administered in various concentrations (5%, 10%, and 15%) and compared with negative controls (gel base) and positive controls (sodium diclofenac). The results showed that the preparation of star fruit leaf extract gel was able to significantly inhibit swelling at concentrations of 10% and 15%. This activity is thought to come from the content of flavonoids and tannins in star fruit leaves which are known to have anti-inflammatory effects. This research provides a scientific basis that star fruit leaf gel preparations have potential as an alternative to natural anti-inflammatory drugs.
