Abstract

This study investigates two research questions: (1) What are the benefits of implementing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in educational settings? and (2) What challenges are faced in implementing SEL within educational contexts? A systematic literature review was conducted by analyzing peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2024 across databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, and Garuda. The research design follows Tóth et al. (2023), applying the PICOC criteria (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome, Context) and thematic analysis from international and Indonesian journals. Addressing the first research question, four key benefits of SEL emerged: (1) enhanced self-awareness and emotional regulation among Generation Z; (2) improved communication and intercultural collaboration in language learning; (3) academic gains through increased motivation, engagement, and critical thinking; and (4) promotion of equity through inclusive environments. In response to the second question, five significant challenges were identified: (1) limited teacher competence in SEL; (2) misaligned curriculum and assessment systems; (3) cultural and contextual barriers; (4) digital adaptation issues among Generation Z; and (5) rigid policies emphasizing narrow academic metrics. This review provides valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers to support effective SEL integration in educational contexts by offering a balanced synthesis of advantages and obstacles.

Abstract

The preparation of learning evaluations that refer to variations in the form of questions, variations in question stimuli, and variations in cognitive levels and utilize technology has not been optimally carried out by teachers. This study aims to describe the design, test the feasibility, and effectiveness of the development of multiple choice learning evaluation based on automatic assessment of hydrosphere material. The type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the Borg and Gall model. The research subjects were 27 VA class students of Purwoyoso 04 State Elementary School. Data collection techniques used non-tests (observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation) and tests (pretest and post-test). Data analysis techniques used normality test, t test, and N-Gain test. The results of this study show: The development design of multiple choice learning evaluation based on automatic assessment with variations in the form of multiple choice questions (ordinary multiple choice and complex multiple choice), variations in question stimulus (text, image, video, audio and table), with MOTS cognitive level (for C3 cognitive level) and HOTS (for C4 and C5), and using quizizz application; The feasibility of developing multiple choice learning evaluations based on automatic assessment from material experts is 92.18% and media experts are 91.66% very feasible criteria supported by the results of a 100% teacher response questionnaire and 100% learner response with very feasible criteria; the effectiveness of multiple choice learning evaluations based on automatic assessment is shown from the increase in pre-test and post-test scores by 33.3, the t-test results show the significance value (2-tailed) is

Abstract

The concept of early childhood learning continues to develop in line with the demands of the times, where education is faced with two equally important approaches, namely, transformative education and sustainable education. This paper aims to delve deeper into transformative and sustainable education concepts in applying inclusive learning for children with special needs at the ECE level. Data were collected through participatory observation in three inclusive ECEs at [research site], in-depth interviews with 15 teachers and parents, and analysis of curriculum documents. Data validation is carried out through triangulation of sources and techniques, while data analysis refers to the Miles-Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion verification. The study results show that inclusive learning for children with special needs at the early childhood education level should not be trapped in the dichotomy between transformative and sustainable education. On the contrary, integrating the two approaches is an ideal solution based on the principles of early childhood learning, so that it can develop the moral and intellectual transformation of individuals oriented towards sustainability. In other words, early childhood learning must function as a means of change (transformation) based on sustainability values to create a society that aligns with education's goals. Inclusive learning practices based on transformative education and sustainable education in ECE open up great opportunities to create meaningful education for all children, including children with special needs. This approach benefits the child's individual development and shapes an inclusive and sustainable school culture.

Abstract

IPAS learning in fifth-grade at SDN 1 Rengging is suboptimal due to low student engagement, resulting in low learning outcomes. The Discovery Learning model was chosen to enhance active participation through exploration and experimentation, utilizing digital comics for assistance. The goal of this research is to assess the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model, supported by digital comics, on the IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students. The method employed was quantitative, using a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design, involving 31 students using a saturated sampling technique. The data collection technique used a test consisting of a 20-item multiple-choice instrument which underwent validity and reliability testing. Research findings indicated that the average score increased from 54,68 (pretest) to 87,10 (posttest), with a significance of 0,000 < 0,05 in the paired sample t-test. The n-gain test demonstrated a score of 0,76 (high) and an effectiveness percentage of 76,42% (effective). This study proves that the combination of the Discovery Learning model and digital comics effectively improves students' learning outcomes. Integrating the Discovery Learning model with digital comics media is effective in enhancing student learning outcomes and can be employed as a strategy to foster innovative and engaging learning.

Abstract

Spatial reasoning is a crucial component in mathematics education, particularly in solving geometry problems that require visualization and mental manipulation of objects in space. This study aims to describe the spatial reasoning of junior high school students based on their cognitive styles, namely field independent (FI) and field dependent (FD). The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through students’ solutions to geometry tasks involving three-dimensional shapes and in-depth interviews with two selected subjects representing each cognitive style. The findings indicate that the field independent subject demonstrated a comprehensive visual representation of geometric objects, formulated problem-solving steps systematically, and exhibited flexibility in positioning objects from various perspectives. However, their ability to mentally rotate objects and evaluate alternative strategies remained underdeveloped. On the other hand, the field dependent subject showed an initial understanding of object structure and was able to construct general problem-solving strategies but struggled with spatial manipulation, maintaining proportions between parts, and engaging in critical reflection of visual representations and solutions. These findings suggest that cognitive style significantly influences students’ spatial reasoning in solving geometry problems.

Abstract

Reading literacy in the digital era has become increasingly complex due to the overwhelming and often unstructured flow of information. Literacy does not develop automatically; instead, it requires deliberate efforts to foster reading interest to become a sustainable habit that supports knowledge acquisition, attitude formation, and skill development. This study aims to investigate Generation Z’s preferences, habits, and perceptions regarding the use of print and digital media, and how these media contribute to fostering reading interest. The research employed a qualitative method with data collected through an online questionnaire distributed to Generation Z students in the Ciayumajakuning region. The results reveal that while print media remains relevant for a portion of Generation Z, digital media has emerged as the dominant medium in cultivating their reading motivation and habits. Respondents highlighted print's sensory and credibility values, but emphasized the accessibility, interactivity, and variety of digital platforms as more appealing. The findings suggest that Generation Z demonstrates stronger engagement when reading materials are presented digitally. However, print media remains important in supporting deeper concentration and comprehension. This study implies that digital and print media should be integrated strategically in educational and social contexts to enhance literacy development. The study contributes to ongoing discussions on designing hybrid literacy strategies that combine the strengths of both media ecosystems to foster lifelong reading interest among Generation Z.

Abstract

Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into learning media must be aligned with the learning component to function optimally in teaching and learning activities. The study analyzes urgency, selection criteria, and procedures for developing AI-based learning media. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through a systematic review of books, journal articles, and other credible academic sources relevant to the research topic. The research instrument in this research is documentation, which involves identifying, selecting, and interpreting relevant written materials. Data analysis used content analysis techniques to identify patterns, themes, and key concepts related to the research focus. The results of this study show that the importance of AI-based learning media in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah can be reviewed from an independent curriculum perspective and a technology perspective. AI-based learning media criteria can be seen from the extent to which they are compatible with learning system components, such as learning objectives, learning materials, learning media, teachers, and educators. Procedures include analyzing the conditions and needs of learning components, formulating AI-based learning media designs, and implementing such designs. The implications of this research suggest that when developed systematically, AI-based learning media can enhance effectiveness.

Abstract

QuillBot is a tool that influences the writing quality among higher students. This tool offers beneficial features that assist the development of academic writing ability among students. Therefore, this study aims to explore the assistance of QuillBot in academic writing among higher students. The researcher adopted the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) methodology proposed by Lame and Guillaume (2019). This method employs eight steps, from developing research questions to resulting interpretations. Those steps are conducted to determine whether the previous articles are appropriate and eligible. Ten articles were found that required the inclusion of the criteria. The articles were found in reputable resources such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis. The findings revealed that QuillBot assists the students in creating minimum errors in writing by discovering grammatical errors, paraphrasing sentences for writing evaluation, avoiding plagiarism, and encouraging students’ motivation. Overall, the tool facilitates the students’ development of their academic writing ability. Additionally, the students’ positive perceptions of writing development support it. They showed language improvement, such as vocabulary development and grammatical ability. Therefore, QuillBot assists the students in powering their writing ability and minimizing their anxiety toward academic writing.
