Abstract

This research is motivated by English language learning, especially at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) level, which has not been effective in improving students' speaking skills. Various factors, such as the use of inappropriate learning methods, lack of facilities, and lack of student motivation, cause this. English language learning is an important aspect of education, especially in the era of globalization, which demands international communication skills. This study aims to analyze English learning management in improving students' speaking skills at MTs Nurul Jalal and MTs Khairul Ummah North Jakarta. This research is based on the philosophy of constructivism, which emphasizes the importance of the role of students in constructing knowledge through direct experience, as well as education management theory, which involves the processes of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. The research method used is a qualitative case study, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. Respondents consisted of teachers, principals, and students in both MTs. The results showed that learning planning in these two madrasahs is quite good. However, its implementation still requires adjustments, especially in the organization of time and the use of learning media. Obstacles faced include limited facilities such as language laboratories and students' lack of confidence in communicating using English. Nevertheless, improvement efforts such as teacher training and the use of digital technology are starting to overcome these problems. This study concludes that effective learning management, with support from all school elements, can improve students' speaking skills. There is a need for synergy between teachers, principals, and educational policies that are more supportive of the development of language competencies, especially students' speaking skills in the madrasah environment.

A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis involving teachers who have participated in competency enhancement programs. The findings indicate that strengthening teachers' pedagogical competencies focuses not only on the use of technology in learning but also on developing students' critical and creative thinking skills. Teachers play the role of facilitators who encourage active student participation and create collaborative learning environments through the utilization of digital learning resources. Furthermore, the study found that integrating technology into the curriculum and instruction can enhance student motivation and engagement, making learning more interactive and relevant to contemporary needs. The implications of this research highlight the importance for teachers to continuously develop their pedagogical competencies to adapt to ongoing changes and meet the expectations of 21st-century education.

Abstract

Islam's view on multicultural education and its response to diversity in society, especially in educational institutions, aims to ensure that every ethnic group has equal rights. This research aims to explain how Islam views multicultural education. Using a qualitative approach through a literature study, various references from books, journals, and related research are analyzed in depth. Multicultural education emphasizes equality amidst cultural differences. In Islam, differences are seen not as a source of conflict or a measure of one's nobility, but as an opportunity for mutual understanding and respect. Multicultural education is an important element in maintaining unity and social integration in diverse societies by educating about equality, justice, and respect for different races, ethnicities, languages, traditions, and religious beliefs. This education is in line with Islamic values reflected in the Qur'an, which emphasizes the importance of respecting diversity. The Prophet Muhammad and his companions have also applied this principle, as seen in the Medina Charter.

Abstract

The transition from the 2013 Curriculum to the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia represents a significant shift in the educational landscape, aiming to provide greater flexibility and autonomy for schools to adapt teaching to student needs and local contexts. This study examines the impact of this curriculum change at SMAN 1 Sukadana, Ciamis Regency, focusing on its effects on pedagogical approaches, student engagement, and educational outcomes. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to teachers and students. The findings indicate that the adoption of the Merdeka Curriculum has encouraged teachers to implement more innovative and interactive teaching methods, such as project-based and cooperative learning, which have significantly increased student engagement and motivation. However, challenges such as inadequate teacher readiness, resistance to new methodologies, and limited infrastructure were identified as key barriers to effective implementation. These findings align with Kotter's organizational change theory, emphasizing the importance of systematic support, continuous professional development, and collaboration among educators and school leadership to facilitate successful curriculum adoption. The study also applies constructivist learning theory and the ARCS motivation model, demonstrating that student-centered approaches enhance learning experiences and outcomes. Despite its contributions, the study acknowledges limitations in sample size and scope, suggesting the need for further longitudinal research to comprehensively assess the long-term impact of the Merdeka Curriculum across diverse educational settings. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and educators in refining curriculum strategies to better support teaching and learning processes.
