Abstract

This review identifies and analyzes the varieties of science learning assessment applied in 21st-century science education. Despite the growing emphasis on scientific literacy and higher-order thinking, few studies have systematically mapped diverse assessment forms aligned with 21st-century competencies. To address this gap, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted on peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025 using the Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, ERIC, and Google Scholar databases. Twenty-seven studies meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed thematically. The review reveals five dominant assessment categories: authentic assessment, competency-based assessment, digital and technology- enhanced assessment, formative and reflective assessment, and collaborative assessment. These assessment approaches indicate a shift from traditional test-based evaluation toward assessing scientific reasoning, creativity, collaboration, and contextual problem-solving. The findings highlight that modern science assessment emphasizes process-oriented evaluation and the integration of digital tools to support adaptive feedback and learning analytics. This review contributes a comprehensive synthesis of assessment innovations in science education and underscores the need for holistic, technology-integrated evaluation practices. Strengthening teacher capacity in designing innovative assessments and conducting empirical studies on their classroom effectiveness is recommended for advancing science education in the digital era.

Abstract

Population growth has led to increasing cultural and ethnic diversity. However, these differences often cause conflict. Therefore, it is essential for individuals to learn to accept diversity as a source of richness and strength in maintaining harmony and cooperation among nations. Misunderstandings may lead to conflict, disharmony, and further miscommunication. One way to address these challenges is through the implementation of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) in education. CRT is an approach that empowers students intellectually, emotionally, and socially through cultural references to convey knowledge, develop skills, and shape behavior. The purpose of this study was to analyze global research trends on CRT during the 2014–2024 period to identify patterns, publication dynamics, and future directions in this field. The results showed a growing trend in the number of publications related to CRT. Most studies involved undergraduate students as participants, with interview sheets being the most commonly used instruments, supported by data analysis based on triangulation. This study provides a theoretical contribution by mapping the direction and development of CRT research globally over the past decade, as well as a practical contribution through policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the implementation of culturally responsive teaching from primary to higher education levels. The findings also offer valuable insights for future CRT implementation and educational policy development.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of Canva-based digital books to improve the civics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 055981 Beruam. This research is the research and development of the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) conducted at SD Negeri 055981 Beruam with research subjects consisting of material, media, language, teachers, and 30 students. data collected from validation questionnaires of material, language, and media experts to determine the level of feasibility, then teacher and student questionnaires to determine the level of practicality, and tests to determine the level of effectiveness. The results showed that the results of the material expert assessment were 92.5% very feasible achievement, then the media expert was 91.7% very feasible achievement, and the language expert was 90% very feasible achievement. Calculated from the assessment of the three experts, an average of 91.7% was very feasible achievement. Then the results of the practicality test conducted by teachers and students obtained an average student assessment of 87.75% very practical achievement and an average teacher assessment of 93.75% very practical achievement, so that calculated from the practicality assessment, an average of 90.75% very practical achievement was obtained. Finally, the effectiveness of canva-based digital books is assessed by the gain test, and a value of 0.56 is obtained in the medium category. So it can be concluded that the canva-based digital book developed has a level of feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness that can be used to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of STEAM-based e-booklets in science lessons on human respiratory system material. This type of research is an ADDIE model of development research (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, validation, and tests. This research was conducted in class V, SDN 104208, Cinta Rakyat. The results of this study indicate that (1) the product is valid from media expert I by 90% and expert II by 84%. (2) The product is valid according to material expert I by 86% and material expert II by 93%. (3) The product is valid according to language experts by 90.7%. (4) The product received a positive response from users, namely 2 V-A class teachers by obtaining 93.4%, V-B class teachers obtained a percentage of 94.7%, and students as product practicality experts. (5) The effectiveness test with the percentage of learning completeness is shown using the t test results (2-tailed), which are obtained at 0.000 referring to the basis for decision-making means 0.000 <0.05 or Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it is concluded that there is an influence between STEAM-based e-booklets and student learning outcomes on the material of the respiratory system in humans in grade V students of SDN 104208 Cinta Rakyat and STEAM-based e-booklets are proven to be effective for the science learning process in grade V.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of work ethic and commitment on the social competence of teachers at SDN Tembilahan Hulu. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample of the study was all 76 teachers taken by total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that teachers' work ethic was in the high category, teachers' commitment was also high, and teachers' social competence was generally good. A partial test (t-test) showed that work ethic had a positive and significant effect on social competence, as did commitment, which also had a positive and significant effect. A simultaneous test (F-test) indicated that work ethic and commitment together had a significant effect on teachers' social competence. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.421 indicates that 42.1% of the variation in social competence can be explained by work ethic and commitment, while the rest is influenced by other factors outside this study. This study confirms that strengthening work ethic and commitment is an important strategy in improving teachers' social competence.

Abstract

This study examines how altruism and teacher self-efficacy influence teacher commitment in private vocational high schools (SMKS) in Bina Widya District, Pekanbaru. Altruism and self-efficacy are critical because they respectively reflect teachers’ prosocial orientation and confidence to perform instructional tasks—both are expected to support sustained professional commitment. Using an ex-post facto quantitative design, data were collected by questionnaire from a cluster sample of 121 teachers drawn from four SMKS (population = 174). Instruments were pretested (N = 30) and analyzed with SPSS 25 using descriptive statistics and multiple regression (F, t, R²). Results show that altruism and self-efficacy jointly have a positive and significant effect on teacher commitment (F = 53.560, p < .001), explaining 47.6% of variance (R² = .476). Individually, altruism (β = .433, p < .001) and self-efficacy (β = .263, p = .004) also significantly predict commitment. The findings suggest that promoting prosocial values and strengthening teachers’ efficacy beliefs can enhance their professional commitment. Implications for school leaders and policymakers are discussed.
