Abstract

This research and development aimed to produce descriptive text reading materials based on a constructivism approach. This research was conducted through the following procedures: (1) analyzing needs; (2) designing the product; (3) developing the initial product; (4) conducting a limited trial; (5) revising the product; (6) conducting a large-scale trial; and (7) producing the product (a prototype). The instrument used in this research was a questionnaire addressed to experts, users (Bahasa Indonesia teachers), and the audience (grade VII students of SMP/MTs). In addition, a cloze test was utilized to measure the readability of descriptive texts and the main narration of the learning materials. The development of the materials was carried out based on the five phases of constructivism proposed by Needham. The product trial was conducted in grade VII junior high schools in Kabupaten Lingga, Kepulauan Riau Province, which were not exposed to Covid-19. This study concluded that the developed learning materials were feasible for descriptive text reading materials, and it was expected that these materials would provide a positive contribution to the development of educational science.

Abstract

Religious character education embedded in elementary school-aged children in Desa Kragan was still found to be low, such as the low motivation of the children to recite the Al-Qur’an and the lack of children’s politeness. This research aimed to describe the impartment of religious character education as well as inhibiting and supporting factors in the impartment of religious character education in elementary school-aged children through religious activities in the Bajigur House, Desa Kragan, Kabupaten Rembang. The research was conducted in Desa Kragan, Kecamatan Kragan, Kabupaten Rembang. This research utilized descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were elementary school-aged children ranged from 7 to 11 years old. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. Then, the data were analyzed through the following steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The validity of the data were examined by using triangulation. The results of this research confirmed that the religious character in elementary school-aged children was imparted through religious activities in the Bajigur House, including the practice of the congregation fardhu prayer, BTA activities, and reciting sholawat and yasin. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors found in this research were that students still needed guidance due to their various background. Other factors were the lack of supervision from teacher and parents due to the lack of awareness of the value of religious character, and the lack of enthusiasm for children in participating in these activities due to the social factors of students both at school and at home. At last, the supporting factors included getting support from parents and the surrounding community as well as adequate facilities.

Abstract

This research and development aimed to develop electronic learning media for teaching trigonometry. The media developed was EDUTRI, an acronym for E-module trigonometry. This research was conducted on students at class XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 of SMA Kristen Satya Wacana, consisting of 34 students as research subjects. The research utilized R&D with the ADDIE development model. This model consists of five stages: analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate (evaluation). The validity of the product was examined by the experts’ judgement, while the practicality of the e-module media was examined through limited trials using a questionnaire. Then, the product effectiveness was obtained through a one-class trial with a pretest and posttest design. The results were tested using the Paired Samples T Test. The final result of this research was an android-based e-module media for grade X students. Based on the results from media experts and material experts, the android-based learning media was valid with an average score of 98.33%. In addition, the results of the questionnaire from teachers and students found that the media was practical with a score of 98.33%. Finally, the results of the Paired Samples T Test pretest–posttest confirmed that EDUTRI learning media was effective to be used for learning trigonometry, with an average score of 82.4%.

Abstract

The aim of this development was to produce a rough motoric module for early childhood education (PAUD). This research was included as research and development (R&D) with Brog and Gall model which consists of seven stages. The result of validation from material experts obtained that the average percentage of the feasibility of the modules was 93% (very feasible). Then, the result of validation from design experts obtained a percentage of 90% (very feasible); the result of small group assessments by subject teachers was 97% (very feasible); and the result of large group test by all teachers in group III was 96% (very feasible). The module provided an open opportunity for PAUD teachers to develop children's rough motoric skills. Moreover, rough motoric development materials provided a variety of new learning styles so they enriched insights to PAUD teachers. It could be concluded that the module was suitable to be used by kindergarten teachers. This module could also be used as a reference for teachers in PAUD educational institutions.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the education sector; as a result, the government has made policies to conduct distance learning or known as online learning. In online learning, parents have double roles, as a parent and as a teacher, to assist children in online learning during Covid-19 pandemic. Lack of understanding of the importance of assisting children during online learning causes parents to pay less attention to their role in assisting children during online learning. The aim of this research was to know parents’ roles to assist children in online learning during Covid-19 pandemic. This research utilized qualitative methods with the type of case study. This research was conducted in Desa Temulus, Kecamatan Mejobo, Kabupaten Kudus, involving 5 parents and 5 children. The children attended learning at SD 1 Temulus, and both children and their parents lived in the researchers’ environment. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This research applied a descriptive qualitative data analysis with triangulation methods to validate the data. The steps of data analysis were data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. The results of this research revealed that parents played several roles in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic; they were: a) as caregivers and educators; b) as mentors; c) as motivators; and d) as facilitators. Therefore, parents should provide time and attention in assisting their children to learn during online learning.
