Abstract

Test (SJT) in the competency assessment of prospective school principals as an alternative to the conventional methods still predominantly used in Indonesia. The main issue addressed is the lack of assessment instruments capable of evaluating contextual competencies, which are crucial in the school leadership role. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews and questionnaires involving key educational stakeholders in Pemalang Regency. The results show that a majority of respondents (60% stated "necessary" and 40% "very necessary") consider the Situational Judgement Test (SJT) a relevant and important method to be applied in principal selection processes. The findings also indicate that Situational Judgement Test (SJT) is superior in assessing competencies such as decision-making, conflict resolution, and professional ethics—areas often overlooked by conventional testing methods. Therefore, Situational Judgement Test (SJT) is recommended as a more comprehensive assessment tool for evaluating educational leadership competencies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of low ability to understand mathematical concepts in the material of multiplication counting operations in phase B elementary school students. This is due to the limited use of learning media during the learning process, so it is necessary to use concrete learning media, namely “KPS” media. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the use of “KPS” media on improving the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of phase B students on multiplication material. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, namely one group pre-test-post-test. The research sample was third grade students totaling 19 people. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the mathematical procedural fluency of students between before and after treatment. This is evidenced by the mean difference test using the Paired Sample T-test. In addition, based on the results of the difference test on the N-Gain score, the effectiveness of using the “KPS” media is in the high criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of “KPS” media is effective enough to improve the understanding of mathematical concepts of phase B students precisely in class III on the material of multiplication counting operations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the mind mapping method on student learning outcomes in social studies class V of Limbung Putera Public Elementary School, Bajeng District, Labupaten, Gowa. This study is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental form with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study were 28 fifth grade students consisting of 13 male students and 15 female students. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The research instruments used were teacher observation sheets, student observations, learning outcome tests, student responses, and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and inferential statistics with the help of the SPSS 21 computer program. The results of this study indicate that the teacher's ability to apply the mind mapping method obtained an average of 3.6, which means it was implemented well. The learning outcomes of fifth grade students are described from the prerequisite test consisting of the results of the pretest normality test 0.60 ≥ 0.05 and posttest 0.82 ≥ 0.05 normally distributed, homogeneous test results and hypothesis test results 0.000 with the criteria sig. (0.000) ≥ a (0.05). So, the results of this study indicate that there is an influence of the mind mapping method on student learning outcomes in the fifthgrade social studies lesson at Limbung Putera Public Elementary School, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the results of observations and interviews with fourth-grade teachers, as well as survey results from teachers and students in the fourth grade, which indicated that there were issues with the use of learning media in the classroom. In the learning process, teachers primarily employed lecture-based methods and tended to rely on textbooks as teaching tools. The consequence of this issue was that most students struggled to comprehend the learning material, particularly regarding cultural diversity in Indonesia. The researcher used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The data analysis techniques used were qualitative and quantitative methods. The product developed is an Android-based interactive multimedia. Based on expert validation, the material received a score of 96%, while the media received a score of 91% in the “Very Valid” criteria. The practicality test results from the teacher response questionnaire received a score of 94%, while the student response questionnaire received a score of 91.66%, thus meeting the “Very Practical” criteria. The results of the effectiveness test of the students' post-test scores with classical learning completeness obtained 94.44% of all students achieving scores above the minimum passing grade, with 17 students successfully obtaining a passing score, indicating that the media was “Very Effective”. The conclusion from this study is that the development of interactive multimedia based on Android for cultural diversity material in Indonesia for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Bajulan meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness for use.

Abstract

This research aims to develop interactive Math Fraction multimedia on the material of adding and subtracting fractions for fourth-grade students at Bulusari 3 Elementary School. The mathematics learning problems at this school include low student achievement and a lack of variety in learning media, which impacts students' low interest and active participation. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The limited trial involved 5 students, while the large-scale trial involved 18 students. The instruments used include a validation sheet, a practicality questionnaire, and an effectiveness test. The validation results showed scores of 92% from content experts and 98% from media experts, indicating that the media is highly valid. Practicality tests by teachers and students showed an average score of 93.2% (very practical). The post-media effectiveness test showed that 100% of students achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). These results indicate that the interactive multimedia Math Fraction is suitable for use as a valid, practical, and effective learning medium.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes, understanding, and learning motivation of grade IV students of SDN Bulusari 3 on plant material due to the use of less varied learning media and teachers still use lecture methods in learning. To overcome this, an interactive multimedia learning media "BATUMBUH" was developed. This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the media using the ADDIE Research and Development model. The results of the study showed that (1) the validity of the interactive multimedia "BATUMBUH" plant part material obtained an average score percentage of 93% with very valid and very good use criteria, (2) the practicality of obtaining the average percentage result was 92.25% with very practical criteria, (3) the effectiveness of obtaining the average percentage of score is 100%, the result is declared to be very effective. Thus, it can be concluded that the interactive multimedia "BATUMBUH" plant part material is very valid, very practical, and very effective to be implemented in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential and challenges of implementing Chromebooks as a medium for diagnostic assessment in elementary schools in the Watukumpul District, Pemalang Regency. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted at two schools: SD Negeri 03 Watukumpul and SD Negeri 01 Cawet. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The participants consisted of two principals, four teachers, and twenty students. The results show that Chromebooks have positive potential to enhance the effectiveness of diagnostic assessments, especially in identifying learning gaps quickly and interactively. However, several challenges arise, such as limited digital competence among teachers, unstable internet connectivity, and technical issues in device operation. This study recommends intensive teacher training and infrastructure improvements to optimize Chromebook utilization in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop innovative learning media in the form of FEED OF CATTLE (Snakes and Ladders Bag Board) on the material of dividing two-digit numbers for fourth-grade students of SDN Tiron 4. The background of this study is the low interest and learning outcomes of students and the use of learning media that are less interesting. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which includes the stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects in this study were 24 students and 1 homeroom teacher. Data collection techniques in the study were validity (media and material expert questionnaires), practicality (teacher and student response questionnaires), and effectiveness (post-test). The results of the validation data showed that the FEED OF CATTLE media met the criteria of Very Valid with a media validation score of 86% and material validation of 95%. The practicality of the media based on the teacher response questionnaire obtained a score of 98%, included in the Very Practical category. The effectiveness test showed that 94% of students achieved learning mastery with a post-test score above the KKM, included in the Very Effective category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the FEED CATTLE learning media is valid, practical, and effective for use in mathematics learning, particularly in the division of 2-digit numbers. This media can be an alternative solution to improve the understanding and learning outcomes of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of third-grade students at SDN Terusan 1 Sindang Indramayu through the use of Big Book media. The research was motivated by the low level of reading comprehension among students, as indicated by the pre-cycle evaluation, where only 49% of students met the minimum passing criteria. The objectives of this studr are to explore the planning, implementation, and impact of using Big Book media in reading comprehension learning. The research method used is Classroom Action Reseatch (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, action, observasion, ang reflection. Data were collecred through observation, interviews, documentation, and comprehension tests. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ reading comprehension abilities. In the first cycle, the percentage of students who met the learning mastery criteria increased to 74%, and in the second cycle, it rose to 91%. These improvements were observed in students’ ability to identify main ideas, answer explicit question, and engaging learning experience, encouraging students to participate actively in reading activities. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that big book media is an effective and innovative tool to enhance reading comprehension skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to implement educational flashcard media to improve early reading skills in first-grade elementary school students, specifically in the subject of Indonesian Language with the theme “Personal Hygiene and Health.” The background of this research is based on the low reading motivation and initial reading abilities of early-grade students, along with the limited and conventional learning media used by teachers. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D), using the ADDIE development model which includes five stages: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The research subjects consisted of 26 first-grade students from UPT Private Elementary School in Regency X. Data were collected using observation sheets, interviews, questionnaires, and reading tests. The results showed that the developed flashcard media was highly valid based on expert evaluations in content, media design, and language. It was also considered practical according to the responses from teachers and students. The effectiveness was demonstrated through significant improvement in students' reading scores, with more than 75% achieving scores above the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). In conclusion, educational flashcard media is proven to be an effective, engaging, and interactive tool to support reading instruction in early grade levels, especially for improving word recognition, syllable decoding, and reading comprehension.
