Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

This study investigates the effect of deep learning instruction on students’ science achievement in Grade VII at SMP Islam Terpadu Khairul Imam, Medan. The research was motivated by the tendency of science learning to remain focused on memorization and teacher-centered activities, which often results in shallow conceptual understanding. The aim of the study is to determine whether deep learning–oriented instruction can significantly improve students’ learning outcomes in science compared to conventional teaching. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group. The population consisted of two intact classes (N = 36), each comprising 18 students, all of whom were involved as the sample. One class was assigned as the experimental group, receiving deep learning–based instruction, while the other served as the control group with conventional teaching. Data were collected through a science achievement test administered before and after the intervention. Normality and homogeneity tests confirmed that the data met the assumptions for parametric analysis. Paired sample t-tests showed significant improvement in both groups, with a markedly higher gain in the experimental class. Independent samples t-test further indicated a significant difference in posttest scores between the two groups, favoring the experimental class. These findings suggest that deep learning instruction is effective in enhancing junior high school students’ science achievement and is recommended as an alternative approach for science teaching in similar contexts

This study aims to desribe and analyze the moral values contained in four folktales from the Batak Toba region, namely Putri Berdarah Putih, Baleo Mahato, Si Tangan Bulu, and Balige Raja. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research dare were obtained from the folktale texts sourced using the Miles and Huberman (1994) model, which includes three stages: data reduction, data display, and conlusion drawing. The findings show that the four folktales contain moral values that reflect the worldview of the Batak Toba community. The identified moral values include honesty, responsibility, patience, religiosity, diligence and justice. These values are classified into three main aspects according to Nurgiyantoro (2010), namely the relationship between humans and God, humans and themselves, and humans and others or the social environment. The results of this study affirm that folktales play an important role as a medium of moral education and as a means of preserving the wisdom of Batak Toba people amid the currents of modernization.

This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of using the Canva application with a color-coding method in developing learning media at SD IT Maryam Muraith. The subjects of this research were first-grade students at SD IT Maryam Muraith during the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The focus of this study is the utilization of information and communication technology to help elementary school children learn and recognize the vowel letters A, I, U, E, and O in a fun way that matches their learning styles. Data were obtained from the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the learning process. The results of this study can serve as a reference for teachers and the general public in utilizing Canva with a color-coding method. The colorful ship-themed media created using Canva increased student engagement, learning enthusiasm, and supported teachers in explaining vowel letters. The evaluation results show that most students have developed very well and in accordance with learning expectations. This study provides a new innovation in creating learning media for elementary school students. The difference from previous studies lies in its focus on helping children learn vowel letters in an enjoyable way and supporting visual learning styles.

Learning fractions is often challenging for elementary school students because the concepts are abstract and require concrete representation to be understood effectively. This study aims to examine the effect of fraction block media on students’ conceptual understanding in elementary mathematics learning. This research employs a quantitative method with an experimental approach. The research design used is a pre-experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest design. The population in this study consisted of third-grade elementary school students, who were also selected as the sample through total sampling. Research data were collected using a test technique and analyzed using a t-test. The results of the study indicate that fraction block media has a significant effect on students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics learning. This is evidenced by the independent t-test showing a significance value of <0.05, which means there is a difference in students’ conceptual understanding before and after learning mathematics using fraction block media. These findings confirm the purity of the media’s influence on students’ conceptual understanding without dominant interference from external variables. Therefore, it can be concluded that fraction block media is effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding of fractions. The implications of this study suggest that teachers are encouraged to use concrete instructional media in mathematics learning to optimize student understanding.

Drought stress triggers complex physiological and molecular responses coordinated by plant hormones. This article aims to describe the hormonal interactions that regulate growth, water balance, and cellular protection during drought conditions. The study uses a literature review approach based on recent primary sources published in the last ten years. Findings indicate that abscisic acid (ABA) acts as the central regulator by inducing stomatal closure, modulating stress-responsive genes, and interacting with other hormones including auxin, cytokinin, ethylene, salicylic acid, and jasmonic acid. Auxin and cytokinin generally suppress drought tolerance by promoting growth processes; meanwhile, plants reduce the levels of both hormones during dehydration. Ethylene and jasmonic acid contribute to root architecture modification and stress signaling. The synergy among these hormones forms an adaptive network enabling plants to optimize water uptake, maintain cellular integrity, and adjust metabolism. The conclusion emphasizes that drought resilience is not controlled by a single hormone, but through dynamic, interconnected hormonal crosstalk that reprograms plant physiology under limited water availability.

This study aims to develop a game-based warm-up model called "Agility Ball Relay" as a more engaging dynamic warm-up alternative for elementary school students. The Research and Development (R&D) method, adapted from Borg & Gall's seven-step model, was used to design the initial product, conduct expert validation, and test its effectiveness through limited trials and main trials. Validation by physical education (PJOK) experts and basic motor skills experts resulted in feasibility scores of 86% and 82%, respectively, indicating that the game is safe, appropriate to student characteristics, and feasible to use. Trials on a total of 58 students yielded good implementation and positive responses from teachers and students. Movement activities such as cone drills, high knees, ball rolling, and reactive push-ups have been shown to improve agility, coordination, and physical readiness, making this game effective as a more dynamic, enjoyable, and non-monotonous warm-up variation in PJOK learning.

This study aims to analyze the influence of educational comic media on the reading interest of Phase B elementary school students. The research was conducted through a literature review by examining various previous studies related to children’s literacy development. The findings indicate that educational comics play a significant role in enhancing students’ reading interest through the combination of engaging, simple, and contextually relevant text and illustrations. This medium successfully transforms students’ perception of reading from a monotonous task into an enjoyable and meaningful activity. Furthermore, the characteristics of Phase B students’ reading interest are influenced by factors such as the implementation of reading programs, the presence of reading corners at schools, and the broader cultural context of literacy in Indonesia. Educational comics have also been proven effective in fostering intrinsic motivation, improving reading comprehension, and strengthening students’ emotional engagement with texts. Therefore, educational comics can serve as an innovative solution to promote a culture of literacy in elementary schools while supporting the development of students’ character and critical thinking skills.

This study aims to analyze teacher readiness in implementing deep learning to enhance student creativity as one of the key competencies of the 21st century. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through questionnaires, interviews, and observations of teachers directly involved in the learning process. The results show that teacher readiness is in the fairly good category, especially in terms of theoretical understanding of deep learning, but there are still variations in practical application, especially in designing project-based learning, utilizing digital technology, and classroom management that supports student creativity. The main challenges faced by teachers include limited time, facilities, and a lack of relevant training.

Cyber violence is one of the emerging threats in the digital era. It occurs more frequently among adolescent girls compared to boys. The impacts of cyber violence not only involve psychological disorders such as stress and depression but also increase the sense of loneliness among victims. On the other hand, wisdom is often regarded as a protective factor that can reduce loneliness. This study aims to examine the relationship between loneliness and wisdom among adolescent girls who are victims of cyber violence. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 200 adolescent girls aged 17–24 years. The participants were active social media users who had experienced cyber violence. The research instruments included the UCLA Loneliness Scale, the Brief Self-Assessed Kebijaksanaan Scale, and the Experiencing Cyber-Violence Scale. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation and linear regression tests. The results revealed no significant relationship between wisdom and loneliness. Furthermore, wisdom showed no significant differences based on age, levels of loneliness, or duration of social media usage. These findings emphasize that loneliness among cyber violence victims is more influenced by other factors, such as social support and coping strategies, rather than internal characteristics like wisdom. This study also recommends cyber wisdom education as a preventive measure.

This study investigates the direct and indirect relationships between bullying, learning motivation, and learning outcomes among fifth-grade students in seven public elementary schools in East Kupang District. A total of 75 participants were selected using probability sampling based on the Slovin formula. Primary data were collected through validated and reliable questionnaires. The variables examined include bullying as the independent variable, learning outcomes as the dependent variable, and learning motivation as the intervening variable. Data were analyzed using path analysis supported by LISREL 8.8. The analytical results indicate that bullying significantly affects learning outcomes and learning motivation. Learning motivation also shows a significant direct effect on learning outcomes. However, the Sobel test demonstrates that the indirect effect of bullying on learning outcomes through learning motivation is not statistically significant. Thus, learning motivation does not function as a mediating variable in this model. Implications and recommendations for educational practice are discussed.
