Abstract

Subh time is the beginning phase of the day that holds an important position in Islamic teachings. The Qur’an describes this time through several terms such as as-subh, al-fajr, bukrah, and as-sahr, each of which carries its own linguistic meaning and distinct spiritual implications. This study aims to examine the meaning of subh in the Qur’an based on the interpretation of Abdurrahman As-Sa’di in Tafsir As-Sa’di. This research employs a library study method with a thematic (maudhu’i) approach, namely by collecting all verses related to subh time and analyzing their interpretations in As-Sa’di’s work. The results of the study show that the three main terms, as-subh, al-fajr, and bukrah, directly refer to the time of subh, while as-sahr describes the final part of the night before dawn. As-Sa’di’s interpretation emphasizes the dimensions of tranquility, blessing, and the beginning of acts of worship associated with the subh time. Subh is portrayed as a time filled with the first light, witnessed by angels, and serves as a moment for spiritual preparation for human beings. This study demonstrates that subh time carries profound meanings that are not only linguistic in nature, but also encompass important moral and spiritual dimensions in the life of a Muslim.

Abstract

This classroom action research was conducted in response to learning conditions in IPAS that indicated students’ creative thinking skills had not yet developed optimally. The study aimed to describe the impleme ntation of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills in IPAS learning, to identify challenges encountered during the application of STEM-based instruction, and to explain the efforts undertaken to address these challenges among fourth-grade students of MI Raudhatul Muhajirin. The research employed a Classroom Action Research design implemented in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires, with fourth-grade students of MI Raudhatul Muhajirin as the research subjects. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ creative thinking skills following the implementation of the STEM approach, increasing from 31% in the pre-cycle to 69% in Cycle I and reaching 93% in Cycle II, categorized as very good. In addition, teacher and student activity levels improved from 70% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. These results indicate that the STEM approach is effective in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills in IPAS learning, particularly on the topic of kinetic energy for fourth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Raudhatul Muhajirin Muaro Jambi

Abstract

This mini-research aims to comprehensively analyze the optimization of the role of all school members and the involvement of parents/guardians in the implementation of positive culture (budaya positif) in an urban primary school setting, specifically at SDN 1 Kota Baru, Bandar Lampung. The study is motivated by the fundamental transformation in Indonesian national education through the Merdeka Curriculum, which positions character building as a main pillar, realized through the Profile of Pancasila Students. The research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Headmaster's policy and support are crucial, but the effectiveness of collaboration between the school and parents in the urban context is not yet optimal. The implementation of positive culture, including the use of restitution and positive discipline, is understood and practiced by teachers, but factors such as limited educational staff and complex external influences pose specific challenges. The study concludes that optimalization requires a responsive model that addresses the urban context, focusing on effective coordination among school components and enhanced, consistent collaboration with parents to ensure the uniformity of values between school and home environments.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is an educational policy that emphasizes learning flexibility and the strengthening of students’ competencies and character. Its implementation requires teachers to adapt learning planning, instruction, and assessment practices. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education at SMP Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi, identify challenges faced by teachers, and examine efforts to address these challenges. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that SMP Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi began implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in 2023 under the “independent change” category. Teachers encountered several challenges, including difficulties in preparing teaching modules, managing classrooms due to student heterogeneity, differences in students’ interests and talents that complicate differentiated learning, and determining appropriate assessment methods for project-based learning. Limited competence in utilizing information and communication technology also remains a significant obstacle. To overcome these challenges, teachers have participated in curriculum training programs, engaged in peer discussions and sharing best practices, developed adaptive learning tools, and continuously improved their technological competencies. These efforts play an important role in supporting the effective implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of interactive video tutorials in teaching Islamic prayer (ṣalāh) movements to students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 5 Kota Jambi. Mastery of prayer movements is a fundamental component of Fiqh learning, requiring not only cognitive understanding but also accurate practical performance. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of the school principal, Fiqh teachers, and eighth-grade students. The findings reveal that interactive video tutorials significantly enhance students’ comprehension of prayer movements by providing clear visual demonstrations and structured learning sequences. The use of audiovisual media increased students’ engagement, motivation, and active participation during learning activities. Students were better able to imitate correct movements and distinguish between obligatory (arkān) and recommended (sunan) components of prayer. From the teachers’ perspective, interactive video tutorials facilitated clearer explanations and more efficient classroom management during practical sessions. Supporting factors for successful implementation included adequate learning facilities, teacher readiness, and students’ positive attitudes toward digital media. However, several challenges were identified, such as limited instructional time, technical constraints, and differences in students’ learning pace. Overall, the study concludes that interactive video tutorials are an effective instructional medium for improving the quality of Fiqh learning, particularly in teaching prayer movements, and they hold strong potential for broader application in Islamic religious education.
