Abstract

Social communication and mastery of information through digital media have become essential in modern education, yet implementing these tools at the primary school level in rural areas presents unique challenges. This study aims to explore students' learning experiences in using digital media, analyze the challenges encountered, and identify coping strategies at MI Ma'arif 01 Tlogopucang. A descriptive qualitative method with a combined phenomenological and case study approach was employed. Data were gathered through non-participant observations, semi-structured interviews with 10 students, and documentation. The results indicate that digital media significantly enhances students' engagement and comprehension of materials through interactive content like educational videos and quizzes, which foster autonomous learning. Furthermore, digital platforms lower communication barriers between students and teachers. However, students face significant obstacles, including technical issues such as unstable internet connections in rural areas and psychological factors like decreased self-discipline due to distractions in the home environment. Students cope with these challenges by seeking alternative signal locations and utilizing the repeat features of digital applications. In conclusion, while digital media effectively enriches the learning experience at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level, its success heavily depends on infrastructure stability and parental guidance to maintain learning focus. Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of K.H. A. Wahid Hasyim's thoughts in relation to the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the contemporary era. As a prominent Islamic reformer and the first Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Wahid Hasyim is known for his progressive ideas that integrate Islamic values with nationalism and modernity. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, analyzing his ideas through works, speeches, and relevant historical documents. The findings indicate that his thoughts are highly relevant to the current needs of Islamic education, particularly in shaping moderate, tolerant, and open-minded individuals in the face of scientific and technological progress. His educational philosophy emphasizes moral values, national character development, and adaptability to social change. Therefore, integrating the values of K.H. Wahid Hasyim’s thought into the Islamic education curriculum and practices is crucial in addressing the challenges of globalization and radicalism.

Abstract

The evaluation of Islamic Religious Education learning within the Merdeka Curriculum remains predominantly oriented toward cognitive achievement, resulting in the insufficient internalization of fastabiqul khairat values in students’ behavior. This study aims to examine innovative evaluation strategies in Islamic Religious Education learning based on the Merdeka Curriculum to foster fastabiqul khairat attitudes among students at SMP Negeri 38 Medan. The study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design to understand teachers’ experiences and practices in designing and implementing learning evaluation. Research data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with data sources comprising Islamic Religious Education teachers, school leaders, and students of SMP Negeri 38 Medan. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data credibility was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that innovative evaluation strategies based on authentic assessment are able to encourage the internalization of fastabiqul khairat values through the continuous development of students’ spiritual, social, and moral attitudes, in line with the objectives of Islamic Religious Education and the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Disciplinary character education is one of the primary objectives in student development within schools, particularly through extracurricular activities. One activity considered effective in instilling disciplinary values is cadetship training through the Basic Marching Drill (PBB). This study aims to describe the strengthening of students' disciplinary character through PBB training in cadetship extracurricular activities at SMK Gula Rajawali, Madiun City. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include cadetship extracurricular instructors and participating students. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the PBB training is implemented in a structured and routine manner, emphasizing discipline in students' attitudes and behavior. The findings reveal a strengthening of disciplinary character, reflected in the improvement of students' independence, responsibility, and punctuality in both extracurricular and other school activities. Furthermore, PBB training fosters positive habits in adhering to regulations and executing tasks without direct supervision. In conclusion, PBB activities within cadetship extracurriculars play a vital role as a medium for sustainable disciplinary character building. This research is expected to serve as a reference for schools in developing character-based extracurricular programs.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the STEAM-based Mount Merapi eruption experiment in increasing the enthusiasm for learning of class VI students at SDN Sawahlega. This approach combines science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in interactive learning to increase student engagement. The research used a qualitative descriptive method with 25 students and two teachers as subjects. Data was collected through questionnaires, interviews and observations. The research results show that this experiment is effective in increasing students' enthusiasm for learning. As many as 96% of students stated that learning using media was more fun compared to the lecture method, and 100% of students admitted that experiments helped them understand natural phenomena material. Factors that support the success of this experiment include realistic visualization, a multidisciplinary approach, and a supportive learning environment. Students showed high enthusiasm, teamwork, and great interest in every stage of the experiment, including making miniature mountains and simulating eruptions using simple materials. This experiment not only increases students' enthusiasm for learning, but also strengthens their critical and creative thinking abilities, in line with the demands of 21st century education. This research recommends the application of experiment-based methods in various learning topics to significantly increase student motivation and learning outcome.Keywords: STEAM, Mount Merapi Eruption Experiment, Passion for Learning

Abstract

This research explores students’ mathematical connection skills at the second-grade level, which represent a crucial component of meaningful mathematics learning. The study was designed to strengthen the ability of Grade 2 students at MI Islamiyah Rowosari to establish mathematical connections in division topics through the application of a role-playing instructional model, while also examining the stages of its implementation in classroom practice. The investigation was structured within a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology and executed across two iterative stages, engaging 21 students as research subjects, comprising 11 female and 10 male participants. Each cycle followed a systematic “sequence of planning, instructional action, observation, and reflection”. Data were gathered through multiple techniques, including classroom observations, learning achievement tests, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative analysis was applied to evaluate improvements in learning outcomes and mastery levels, whereas qualitative analysis was used to examine the dynamics of the learning process. Implementation of the role-playing learning model led to a pronounced improvement in students’ ability to establish mathematical connections, demonstrated by the substantial growth in average achievement from 47.2% in the first cycle to 88.0% in the second cycle. The findings indicate that students became increasingly capable of linking division concepts with real-world contexts. Consequently, the role-playing learning model can be regarded as an effective alternative approach for enhancing mathematical connection skills in division instruction for Grade 2 students at MI Islamiyah Rowosari. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the need for science and technology learning media on human five senses material in elementary schools. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out in five elementary schools in the Cikembar District cluster, Sukabumi Regency. Research subjects included 5 class III teachers and 139 students. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and distributing needs analysis questionnaires prepared using a Likert scale. The results of the research show that teachers have a very positive view of the use of learning media because it is able to increase students' interest in learning, activeness and understanding of concepts and helps convey learning objectives more clearly. However, the availability of science and technology learning media in schools is still limited and not completely attractive. Meanwhile, the results of the analysis of student needs show that students have a high interest in learning supported by visual and interactive media, such as pictures, videos and animations, because it makes it easier to understand concrete material. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the development of concrete, visual and interactive science learning media is very necessary to support the learning characteristics of elementary school students and improve the quality of the scienceas learning process and outcomes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject among fifth-grade students at SD Rodhotul Qur’an Empat, South Lampung, which are presumed to be influenced by the use of less optimal instructional models. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning model on students’ IPAS learning outcomes. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest–posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of two classes: an experimental class that applied the Problem Based Learning model and a control class that used a conventional learning model, with a total of 52 students. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observations, and documentation. The research instruments were tested for validity, reliability, item difficulty level, and discrimination index. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent samples t-test with the assistance of IBM SPSS. The results showed that the average learning outcomes of students in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings indicate that the Problem Based Learning model has a significant effect on improving IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students and is effective in promoting active engagement and meaningful learning.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum is a new policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) designed to improve the quality of learning through flexibility, simplified materials, and a focus on developing student character and competencies. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SD Negeri 043/VII Karang Mendapo II, including supporting and inhibiting factors, and the impact of its implementation on the learning process. The study used a qualitative case study approach, with data sources including the principal, teachers, students, and learning documents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results indicate that the Independent Curriculum has been implemented in stages and is supported by the readiness of school management and teachers' willingness to adapt. The impact is evident in increased student participation, more contextual learning, and teachers' role as facilitators. However, several obstacles were identified, such as varying teacher abilities in understanding teaching materials, limited collaboration within learning communities, and the suboptimal use of innovative learning media to support differentiated learning. The study recommends increased systematic training, ongoing mentoring, and optimized use of the Merdeka Mengajar digital platform.

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the determinants contributing to the development of student discipline, encompassing both internal and external dimensions. A qualitative research design was applied, utilizing interviews with homeroom teachers, parents, and fourth-grade students as key informants. Data collection involved structured interview procedures supported by relevant documentation. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using descriptive techniques to identify the most influential factors shaping students’ disciplinary behavior. The findings reveal that the development of students’ disciplinary behavior emerges from the combined influence of internal and external factors. Internal aspects encompass learning motivation, levels of self-awareness, and students’ capacity to control and manage their own behavior. Meanwhile, external factors consist of teachers’ role modeling, the implementation of school rules, parental support, and the influence of the social environment. The findings reveal that external factors, particularly family support and consistency in the implementation of school rules, are the most dominant factors in shaping students’ discipline. Therefore, the development of students’ discipline requires cooperation among schools, families, and students to ensure that disciplined behavior can develop optimally and sustainably.
