Abstract

This study examines the historical approach in Islamic studies by focusing on three key methodological instruments: sanad criticism, chronology, and manuscript analysis. The problem addressed in this study is the persistence of ahistorical interpretations that treat historical products of Islamic thought as timeless and absolute, thereby limiting a contextual understanding of Islam. The objective of this study is to explain the nature of the historical approach, describe the processes involved in sanad criticism and chronological reconstruction, and analyze the role of manuscripts as material evidence in verifying textual authenticity. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method based on literature analysis of classical and modern scholarly works related to Islamic historiography and textual studies. The results indicate that sanad criticism functions as a systematic method to evaluate the credibility and accuracy of transmitters, chronological analysis helps reconstruct the development of Islamic law and intellectual traditions within their socio-historical context, and manuscript studies supported by philology and codicology provide objective material evidence that strengthens historical reconstruction. Therefore, the historical approach contributes to developing Islamic studies as a rigorous and scientific discipline grounded in verifiable data rather than assumptions.

Abstract

This article examines the historical development of Islamic Studies from the classical, modern, to contemporary periods, with a particular focus on the figures and intellectual trends that have shaped the discipline over time. Islamic Studies did not emerge as a static field of knowledge, but rather evolved dynamically in response to social, political, cultural, and intellectual changes within the Muslim world. During the classical period, Islamic Studies were characterized by the formation of core Islamic disciplines such as Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith studies, jurisprudence, and theology, developed through normative and theological approaches by classical Muslim scholars. In the modern period, Islamic Studies experienced significant paradigm shifts as responses to colonialism, modernization, and Western intellectual challenges, giving rise to reformist thinkers who emphasized rational, historical, and contextual approaches. In the contemporary period, Islamic Studies have increasingly adopted multidisciplinary perspectives, incorporating methods from the social sciences and humanities while engaging with global issues such as pluralism, gender, human rights, and democracy. This study employs a library research method using a historical-analytical approach to examine major works and ideas of prominent scholars in Islamic Studies. The findings indicate that the development of Islamic Studies reflects a continuous intellectual effort to interpret and contextualize Islamic teachings in accordance with changing historical realities. This article is expected to contribute to the academic discourse by providing a comprehensive overview of the intellectual map and future direction of Islamic Studies.

Abstract

Islamic Studies in the contemporary era faces significant epistemological challenges, particularly the blurring boundaries between normative religious teachings and historical interpretations in the digital public sphere. This article aims to reconstruct and systematically map the fundamental foundations of Islamic Studies, including its definition, objectives, functions, and scope within a contemporary context. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research as the primary method. Data were collected through descriptive-analytical review of relevant primary and secondary literature published between 2020 and 2026, ensuring the relevance of findings to current developments. The results indicate that Islamic Studies has transformed from a monolithic and doctrinal approach into an interdisciplinary and multidimensional field. Conceptually, Islamic Studies is no longer limited to classical textual analysis but encompasses the interaction between revelation and social reality. The objectives of Islamic Studies have expanded from purely cognitive religious understanding to addressing global humanitarian issues such as religious moderation, digital ethics, and social justice. Functionally, Islamic Studies plays a role as an instrument of social transformation, digital literacy, and ethical guidance in responding to modern challenges. Its scope has also broadened to

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dissemination of hoaxes in digital business by focusing on the role of social media content creators as key actors in online product promotion. The rapid growth of internet penetration in Indonesia has been accompanied by an increase in digital fraud and misleading content, partly driven by non-transparent promotional practices and exaggerated claims. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and secondary data from official government reports, online media, academic journals, and relevant regulations, this research applies the agenda-setting theory proposed by Maxwell E. McCombs and Donald L. Shaw as its analytical framework. The findings reveal that content creators hold a strategic position in shaping media agendas, influencing public agendas, and triggering policy agendas. The lack of promotional transparency, weak certification regulations, low digital literacy, and platform algorithm incentives contribute to the spread of misleading information. Therefore, strengthening transparency regulations, implementing certification mechanisms for creators in high-risk sectors, enhancing digital literacy, and optimizing platform supervision are essential to building a more ethical, safe, and accountable digital business ecosystem.

Abstract

Work-related fatigue is a common occupational health problem among fishermen due to prolonged working hours, high physical workload, and inadequate rest, which may reduce productivity and increase the risk of work accidents. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Musa textilia (king banana) consumption in reducing work fatigue among fishermen in the Medan Belawan area. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest control group design was conducted involving 60 fishermen, who were divided equally into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group consumed 300 grams of king banana daily for seven consecutive days, while the control group received no dietary intervention. Work fatigue levels were assessed using the KAUPK2 questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in work fatigue in the intervention group after banana consumption (p < 0.05), whereas no significant improvement was observed in the control group. These findings indicate that king banana consumption is effective in reducing work-related fatigue among fishermen. Incorporating king bananas as a simple nutritional intervention may serve as a practical strategy to mitigate occupational fatigue in this population.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary school plays an essential role in developing students’ logical, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills, particularly in fraction topics that are abstract in nature. However, in practice, fraction learning is still dominated by procedural memorization, causing students’ conceptual understanding to remain underdeveloped. This study aims to examine the effect of the meaningful learning model based on advance organizers assisted by fraction flower media on students’ understanding of basic fraction concepts in Grade VI of SD Negeri Gabahan. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 14 sixth-grade students selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through pretest and posttest essay tests, teacher interviews, and classroom observations. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-test with SPSS. The results showed an increase in the average score of students’ conceptual understanding from 51.60 in the pretest to 72.67 in the posttest. The Paired Sample t-test results indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, demonstrating a significant effect of the meaningful learning model based on advance organizers on students’ fraction concept understanding. These findings indicate that learning which connects students’ prior knowledge with new information through concrete visual representations can promote deeper and more meaningful conceptual understanding, in line with the principles of deep learning in mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by Arabic language teachers in overcoming Arabic language learning difficulties among first-grade KMI students at Pondok Pesantren Modern Al Syaikh Abdul Wahid, Baubau City, and to identify the factors contributing to the success of these strategies. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 2 Arabic language teachers and 32 first-grade KMI students. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers implement five main strategies: daily vocabulary habituation, muhadatsah method, repetitive drills, creation of a bilingual environment, and continuous motivation. The success of these strategies is supported by five key factors including teacher competence and commitment, pesantren system support, the role of senior students as peer tutors, students' intrinsic motivation and family support, and integration of formal learning with informal practice. The research findings contribute to achieving SDG 4 on quality education through an effective Arabic language learning model that can be adapted by other Islamic educational institutions to enhance human resource quality in Arabic language proficiency and deep Islamic understanding.
