Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) among Grade V students at SDN 14 Siguntur, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The low achievement was influenced by students’ lack of focus, low learning motivation, and limited curiosity, which resulted in boredom and reluctance to participate in group activities. From the teacher’s perspective, learning was still dominated by lecture-based methods using standard teaching modules without innovation, and learning resources were limited to textbooks and student worksheets. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the improvement of IPAS learning outcomes through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model for Grade V students. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The study was conducted in two cycles, with Cycle I consisting of two meetings and Cycle II consisting of one meeting. Each cycle included the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were one teacher and 23 Grade V students. Research data were obtained from teaching module assessments, learning process observations, and student learning outcomes. The results showed that the teaching module assessment in Cycle I achieved an average score of 85.4% (B), which increased to 91.6% (SB) in Cycle II. Teacher and student learning activities improved from 89.06% (B) in Cycle I to 96.87% (SB) in Cycle II. Student learning outcomes increased from an average score of 74.44% (C) to 85.86% (B). It can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model effectively improves IPAS learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and meanings of conversational implicatures used by educational figures in electronic media, particularly on YouTube. The data consist of utterances in podcasts and interviews discussing educational issues and curriculum policies in Indonesia on the KOMPASTV channel and Dr. Indrawan Nugroho. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The analysis is based on the theory of conversational implicature proposed by Paul Grice, using the pragmatic matching technique. The findings reveal two types of implicature: general conversational implicature and particular conversational implicature. General implicature is used to convey perspectives on shifts in learning paradigms, holistic evaluation, and character development. Meanwhile, particular implicature appears in policy contexts, such as curriculum changes, criticism of the dominance of academic testing, teacher welfare, and the relationship between formal qualifications and professional competence. These findings indicate that implicature functions as a persuasive and non-confrontational communication strategy in expressing ideas and educational critiques..

Abstract

This study aims to determine the efforts of Akidah Akhlak teachers in shaping students' good character at MTs Aradal-Haq Pematang Lumut in Jambi Province, the obstacles faced in its implementation, and the results achieved from these efforts. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation with the main informants being Akidah Akhlak teachers, supported by the head of the madrasah and students of MTs Aradal-Haq Pematang Lumut. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that Akidah Akhlak teachers play an active role in shaping students' akhlakul karimah through various efforts, including setting an example, instilling good and religious behavior, providing advice and motivation, relating Akidah Akhlak material to everyday life, and providing educational reprimands and sanctions. The obstacles faced by Akidah Akhlak teachers include differences in students' family and environmental backgrounds, low awareness and discipline among some students, the influence of social circles and social media, limited learning time, and a lack of cooperation with some parents. Nevertheless, various consistent and continuous guidance efforts have shown positive results, marked by an increase in politeness, discipline, responsibility, awareness of worship, and the formation of positive behavioral habits in students' daily lives. Thus, the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers has proven to be very important and strategic in nurturing character and instilling akhlakul karimah values in students at MTs Aradal-Haq Pematang Lumut, Jambi Province.

Abstract

Creativity in early childhood is an essential aspect that should be developed from an early age because it forms the basis for thinking, imagination, and self-expression. However, in many early childhood education institutions, learning activities that stimulate creativity are still limited. Based on preliminary observations at RA Nurul Islam Bungo, most children tended to be passive during art activities and lacked confidence to perform in front of their peers. This study aims to develop children’s creativity through art performances in dance and drama as enjoyable and meaningful learning media. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that stage art activities effectively foster children’s confidence, courage, and ability to express ideas creatively. In addition, children demonstrated improvement in cooperation, discipline, and responsibility throughout the rehearsal and performance process. Therefore, dance and drama performances not only enrich the learning experience but also serve as effective tools to develop children’s creative potential and positive character within the RA environment.

Abstract

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model combined with Crossword Puzzle (TTS) media and its effect on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in learning about changes in the states of matter at SD Muhammadiyah Plus, Probolinggo Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation, then analyzed interactively with validity checks through triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing. The results show that the integration of TGT–TTS increased students’ engagement and participation and strengthened their critical thinking skills, as reflected in their ability to ask relevant questions, provide logical reasons, and draw conclusions. The crossword puzzle media helped students understand concepts, while the competitive element in TGT increased learning motivation. The novelty of this study lies in the systematic integration of TGT and crossword puzzles in this topic through procedures that are practical and easy to replicate in elementary schools. The implications include recommendations for activity design, crossword puzzle instruments, and assessment guidelines to support the improvement of critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low sense of unity among students, characterized by increasing individualism, low social participation, and a lack of tolerance in school interactions. This research is based on the theory of group guidance (Prayitno) and the concept of saprahan values as local wisdom, which emphasizes togetherness, mutual cooperation, religiosity, and strengthening social character. The method used was an experimental design with a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The subjects were eight students from SMP Negeri 11 Pontianak, selected purposively. Data collection used a Likert-scale questionnaire to measure the level of unity before and after the treatment. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed an increase in the average sense of unity score from 68.63 to 76.88, with an average increase of 40%. The statistical test showed a significance value of p = 0.042 (<0.05), thus accepting the alternative hypothesis. This finding proves that group guidance services containing Saprahan values are effective in increasing students' sense of unity. Therefore, integrating Saprahan values into guidance services can be an innovative strategy for strengthening the sense of togetherness in schools.
