Abstract

This study examines the alienation of the main character in Brian Khrisna's novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati (A Bowl of Chicken Noodles Before Death). The problem in this study is how the main character experiences alienation in the story. The focus of the study covers three aspects of alienation, namely the character's alienation from himself, the character's alienation from others, and the character's alienation from society. This study aims to describe and analyze the forms of alienation experienced by the main character in the novel. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a literary psychology approach using Erich Fromm's theory of alienation. The source of data for this study is the text of the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati. The data collection technique was carried out through reading and note-taking, namely by identifying parts of the text that describe the main character's state of alienation. The data was then analyzed by classifying and interpreting the forms of alienation found based on the theory used. The results of the study show that the main character in the novel experiences three forms of alienation. First, alienation from oneself, which is characterized by inner conflict, feelings of loss of direction, and a crisis of meaning in life. Second, alienation from others, which is evident in strained social relationships and the character's difficulty in building emotional closeness. Third, alienation from society, which is evident through the character's.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam mengenai optimalisasi pemanfaatan warisan sejarah lokal sebagai media pembelajaran IPS bagi siswa kelas V SD guna mendukung pelestarian budaya sesuai agenda SDG 11. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah tinjauan pustaka (literature review) dengan mengkaji 16 artikel ilmiah relevan yang diterbitkan dalam rentang tahun 2021–2025. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola dan menarik kesimpulan komprehensif terkait fokus kajian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan warisan sejarah lokal, baik berupa situs fisik, artefak, maupun tradisi non-bendawi, efektif mentransformasi materi IPS yang abstrak menjadi pengalaman belajar yang konkret dan relevan. Penggunaan media interaktif seperti pop-up book dan digital storytelling yang dipadukan dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terbukti meningkatkan keterlibatan emosional, minat belajar, serta pemahaman siswa terhadap nilai-nilai budaya. Sinergi antara kreativitas guru dan pemanfaatan media inovatif menjadi kunci utama dalam memperkuat identitas sosial dan karakter toleransi siswa sebagai upaya konservasi budaya berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher–student communication patterns in classroom management within art learning based on the values of silih asah, silih asih, and silih asuh at SDIT Nabawi. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of teachers and students, and the data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the communication patterns applied by the teacher are interactive and humanistic, reflecting the values of silih asah (mutual learning), silih asih (mutual care), and silih asuh (mutual guidance). The implementation of these communication patterns contributes to creating a conducive classroom atmosphere, increasing student engagement, and strengthening the emotional relationship between teachers and students. Thus, effective communication based on local cultural values plays an important role in supporting successful classroom management, particularly in art learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This research discusses the history of the establishment of the Perlak Sultanate and its contribution to the process of spreading Islam in the Nusantara region. Through qualitative methods and a historical approach, the research findings show that Perlak's strategic position on the Malacca Strait trade route, interaction with Muslim traders, as well as the role of scholars and educational institutions, were the main factors driving the development of Islam in the area. The Perlak Sultanate played a significant role as a center of trade and the spread of Islam, which accelerated the process of Islamization in the Nusantara.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students and learning is still dominated by conventional learning. The purpose of this study is to describe the critical thinking skills of students before and after the implementation of guided inquiry with Baamboozle media on the topic of additives. The study used a one-group pretest-posttest design conducted in one of the State Junior High Schools in Surabaya City with 30 eighth-grade students as subjects. The data collection technique in this study used a test. The research instrument consisted of a test sheet to measure critical thinking skills. The data obtained were analyzed using N-Gain, normality test, paired t-test, and descriptive analysis based on the mode value. The results of the study showed an increase in critical thinking skills with an N-Gain value of 0.58 in the moderate category. Based on this explanation, students' critical thinking skills can be improved by implementing a guided inquiry model with Baamboozle media, especially on the topic of additives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of critical self-reflection on the teaching readiness of pre-service teachers and to examine the differences in teaching readiness before and after observation activities. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pretest–posttest design. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring teaching readiness at the pre- and post-observation stages, as well as critical self-reflection at the post-observation stage. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics with the assistance of SPSS, including the Paired Sample t-Test and simple linear regression. The results showed that there was no significant difference in teaching readiness before and after observation (Sig = 0.343 > 0.05), although there was an increase in the mean score. However, the regression analysis indicated that critical self-reflection had a significant effect on teaching readiness (Sig = 0.000 < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination of 0.632. This finding suggests that critical self-reflection makes a strong contribution to students’ teaching readiness. These findings indicate that observation activities alone are insufficient to significantly improve teaching readiness without being accompanied by a process of critical self-reflection. Therefore, the integration of structured reflective activities in pre-service teacher education is essential to optimally enhance teaching readiness.

Abstract

Basic education plays a crucial role in shaping students' personalities as the primary foundation for nation-building. However, the current advancement of globalization and digitalization has led to a decline in moral values, a diminished sense of nationalism, and a weakening of social interaction among students. Social Studies (IPS) learning, which should help shape social values, still feels impractical, difficult to understand, and less relevant to everyday life. Therefore, innovations in learning are needed that can incorporate values ​​from everyday life, one of which is by utilizing cultural heritage. This study aims to analyze the integration of cultural heritage-based social studies learning in character development for fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used was a qualitative research approach with a literature review approach on 28 selected scientific articles published between 2022 and 2025. Data analysis techniques were carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and systematic conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that integrating cultural heritage in social studies learning can improve students' contextual understanding, strengthen cultural identity, and foster character values ​​such as cooperation, tolerance, and responsibility. Implementation is carried out through the use of local wisdom, folklore, and regional traditions, supported by innovative learning models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), and the 7E Learning Cycle. This approach has proven effective in increasing student participation, social empathy, and collaboration skills. Therefore, the integration of cultural heritage-based social studies learning is a relevant pedagogical strategy for creating meaningful learning and developing students with character, culture, and adaptability to current developments.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to uncover the cultural meanings in the text of the Treaty of Tellumpoccoe using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, which includes three levels of analysis: denotation, connotation, and myth. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a semiotic approach. Data were obtained through literature study and text analysis, then interpreted using Barthes' theoretical framework. The results of the study show that in the denotative meaning, the text of the Tellumpoccoe Agreement contains practical rules regarding solidarity, prohibition of interfering in the affairs of other kingdoms, loyalty to promises, commitment to military assistance, and prohibition of seizing property. In the connotative meaning, this text reflects Bugis cultural values, such as sipakatau (humanizing each other), siri (self-respect), assitinajang (equality), pacinna (loyalty), and paccing (honesty). Meanwhile, in the mythical meaning, the Tellumpoccoe text presents the ideology of the sacred unity of the Bugis people which is eternal, strong, and has divine legitimacy through Dewata Seuwae. The conclusion of this study confirms that the Tellumpoccoe Treaty is not merely a political document, but also a representation of Bugis cultural values ​​that shape the collective identity of its people. These values ​​remain relevant today as guidelines for maintaining brotherhood, solidarity, and honor in Bugis culture amidst changing times.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Sosial dan Emosional memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung perkembangan holistik siswa dengan membantu mereka mengenali dan mengelola emosi, membangun hubungan positif, serta membuat keputusan yang bertanggung jawab. Namun, implementasinya pada pendidikan dasar di Indonesia masih terbatas karena pembelajaran cenderung berfokus pada pencapaian kognitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi aktivitas mindfulness melalui musik instrumental dalam pembelajaran serta mengkaji dampaknya terhadap perkembangan sosial dan emosional siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus yang dilaksanakan di kelas 3 SDN Tunggulrejo. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari satu guru dan empat siswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, serta dianalisis menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Validitas data dijamin melalui triangulasi teknik dan sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas mindfulness diimplementasikan sebagai strategi pengkondisian emosional sebelum pembelajaran melalui kegiatan mendengarkan musik instrumental, latihan pernapasan, refleksi, dan afirmasi positif. Kegiatan ini meningkatkan regulasi emosi, interaksi sosial, konsentrasi, dan keterlibatan siswa sehingga menciptakan lingkungan kelas yang lebih kondusif serta kesiapan belajar yang lebih baik.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of integrating Wordwall-based gamification within the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on elementary students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The research was motivated by the low mathematics achievement of students, which is often associated with teacher-centered instructional practices and limited student engagement. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically the one-group pretest–posttest design, was employed in this study. The participants consisted of 30 fourth-grade students at SDN Grogol 2, Jombang Regency, selected using a saturated sampling technique.Data were collected through learning achievement tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the implementation of the instructional treatment. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis, including the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and paired sample t-test. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in the mean score from 64.7 in the pretest to 81.46 in the posttest. In addition, the percentage of students achieving mastery learning increased from 13.33% to 90%. The hypothesis testing showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest results. These findings demonstrate that the integration of Wordwall gamification within the TGT model effectively enhances students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This improvement is supported by increased student engagement, active participation, collaborative learning, and higher motivation fostered through game-based and interactive learning environments. In conclusion, the integration of Wordwall gamification within the Team Games Tournament model can be considered an effective and innovative instructional strategy to improve mathematics learning outcomes in elementary education
