Abstract

This study aims to analyze the evaluation of science (IPA) learning at the elementary school level based on a literature review approach. Evaluation is an essential component in the learning process as it functions to measure the achievement of learning objectives and improve the quality of teaching and learning activities. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature study design, which involves collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data from various relevant academic sources such as journals and books. The results of the study indicate that learning evaluation plays a significant role in improving students' learning outcomes and motivation. However, several challenges are still found, such as the dominance of cognitive assessment, limited measurement of affective and psychomotor aspects, and teachers’ lack of ability in designing higher-order thinking skills (HOTS)-based evaluation instruments. In addition, technical and communication barriers, especially during online learning, also affect the effectiveness of evaluation implementation. Therefore, improving teachers’ professional competence in designing and implementing comprehensive and continuous evaluation is necessary to support better learning outcomes. In conclusion, the development of a systematic, holistic, and student-centered evaluation system is crucial to enhance the quality of science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of communication frequency with parents on the emotional well-being of boarding students based on research data. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 30 boarding students at Universitas Negeri Medan selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire developed based on the indicators of the research variables. Data analysis was conducted using both descriptive and inferential statistics, including simple linear regression and Pearson correlation tests.The results indicate that the frequency of communication with parents has a significant effect on the emotional well-being of boarding students (p < 0.05). Furthermore, a strong positive relationship was found between the two variables, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.632. These findings show that higher communication intensity with parents contributes to improved emotional well-being among students. Therefore, communication with parents plays an important role in maintaining emotional stability among students living independently away from home.

Abstract

This study examines the low reading ability of elementary school students, particularly in reading comprehension, which is influenced by limited vocabulary, the use of local languages, the impact of post-pandemic learning conditions, and a lack of parental support. The study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies for addressing reading difficulties among third-grade students in a public elementary school in Tarogong District. The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include teachers and third-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through triangulation. The results show that students’ reading abilities are uneven, mainly due to the impact of the pandemic and minimal learning support at home. The strategies implemented by teachers include intensive and continuous guided instruction, remedial teaching, and additional learning hours. In addition, motivational and emotional approaches such as providing attention, encouragement, and rewards have also been proven to increase students’ interest, confidence, and engagement in reading activities. Thus, adaptive, consistent, and student-centered strategies are effective in improving students’ reading ability.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of the quality of the rhetoric of Islamic preaching of students in muhadharah activities at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Although the digitalization era is increasingly developing, muhadharah remains a relevant forum among students to be used as a means of practice in developing public speaking and Islamic preaching skills, however, many students still experience limitations in conveying messages effectively, such as unstructured delivery, weak persuasion techniques, reliance on texts, and lack of interaction with the audience. This problem shows that rhetorical skills are not sufficiently developed through practice alone, but require systematic and planned communication strategies. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the communication strategies applied by students in developing Islamic preaching rhetoric through muhadharah activities. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research, through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that effective communication strategies such as audience analysis, structured message planning, appropriate language use, persuasive rhetorical techniques, and ongoing evaluation play a significant role in improving the rhetorical competence of students. Muhadarah activities have a significant impact and contribute significantly to honing students' speaking skills, while strengthening religious and social values ​​that are beneficial in everyday life. This study recommends strengthening the muhadarah program as part of the development of da'wah rhetoric at Ma'had Al-Jamiah UIN Raden Intan Lampung.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low speaking skills of fourth-grade students at Luqman Islamic Elementary School in Padang City, particularly in interview texts. This problem is caused by a learning process that still focuses on theoretical delivery, a lack of practical opportunities for students, and low self-confidence. This study aims to assess the improvement of students' speaking skills through the application of the role-playing learning model. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) with qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted in two cycles, involving 22 students as subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and speaking skills tests. The results showed improvements in lesson planning and implementation, as well as student speaking skills. The average speaking skill increased from 69.3% in the first meeting of cycle I (poor category), to 76.4% in the second meeting of cycle I (sufficient category), and reached 84.1% in the second cycle (good category). Furthermore, teacher and student activity also increased, reaching the excellent category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the role-playing learning model is effective in improving students' speaking skills in interview text learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of school and family environments on students’ moral development. The research is motivated by variations in students’ moral behavior, including differences in discipline, responsibility, and social attitudes, which indicate the role of environmental factors. This study employed a quantitative approach with an associative design. The sample consisted of 60 eighth-grade students selected using cluster sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires supported by observation and documentation, and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that the school environment has a significant effect on students’ moral development (sig. = 0.033 < 0.05), and the family environment also has a significant effect (sig. = 0.026 < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables have a significant influence (F = 12.951; sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). The regression analysis indicates that the family environment has a more dominant influence compared to the school environment. The coefficient of determination shows that 31.2% of moral development is influenced by school and family environments, while the remaining is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between stress levels and smoking intensity among students at Universitas Negeri Medan. The background of this research is based on the assumption that stress is one of the factors that may influence smoking behavior, particularly among university students who face various academic and social demands. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population consisted of students at Universitas Negeri Medan, with a total sample of 32 respondents selected using a specific sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring stress levels and smoking intensity. The obtained data were then analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicated that there was a positive relationship between stress levels and smoking intensity; however, the strength of the relationship was low, as reflected by a correlation coefficient of 0.271. Furthermore, the significance value was 0.133 (p > 0.05), indicating that the relationship was not statistically significant. The results of the simple linear regression analysis also revealed that stress levels did not have a significant effect on smoking intensity, with a contribution of only 7.4% to the variance in smoking intensity. In conclusion, stress levels are not a primary factor influencing smoking intensity among students. Therefore, further research is recommended to include other variables that may have a stronger influence on smoking behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of micro-learning through Instagram Reels on the digital literacy of Community Education students at Universitas Negeri Medan. The phenomenon of increasing short-form video consumption has catalyzed a shift in student learning patterns, characterized by a preference for concise, visual, and highly accessible information. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. Data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 35 Community Education students. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The findings reveal a correlation between micro-learning via Instagram Reels and student digital literacy, with a correlation coefficient of 0.298, categorized as a low correlation. Regression analysis yielded a significance value of 0.082 ($p > 0.05$), indicating that there is no significant influence between the two variables. These results suggest that the intensity of micro-learning content consumption does not directly enhance students' digital literacy skills. Digital literacy is more profoundly influenced by critical thinking abilities, information evaluation, and deep learning experiences. This research implies that micro-learning via social media is more effective as a supplementary learning tool rather than a primary source for improving digital literacy. Consequently, a more systematic integration of learning strategies is required to optimize the utilization of digital media in education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of social media addiction tendencies among students at Surabaya Junior High School. The study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The study subjects were 89 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire with 26 statements whose validity had been tested, using a Likert scale of 1–4. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and categorized based on the score range. The results showed that 13% of students were in the high category, 75% in the medium category, and 11% in the low category. In general, the level of social media addiction tendencies was in the medium category. In addition, the majority of students used social media for more than 6 hours per day, indicating a potential risk of addictive behavior. These findings indicate the need for preventive efforts through increasing digital literacy, strengthening self-regulation, and mentoring from teachers and parents to ensure wiser social media use

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence has profoundly reshaped the educational sector, steering pedagogical processes toward increased digitalization, automation, and tailored learning experiences. Nevertheless, this shift has sparked significant apprehension regarding the potential erosion of students' ethical values, including integrity, accountability, and social consciousness. Within the framework of Islamic education, where character building is as vital as cognitive attainment, this challenge is particularly acute. This research seeks to examine the personality reconstruction of Islamic Religious Education teachers in the AI era, aiming to bolster their function as moral exemplars. Adopting a qualitative literature-based methodology, this study analyzes various scholarly works, journals, and international reports. The findings suggest that teachers confront not only technological hurdles but also deep-seated moral and personal challenges. Consequently, teacher personality reconstruction must prioritize the fusion of spiritual principles, digital fluency, and consistent ethical conduct across both physical and virtual environments. The study concludes that revitalizing the teacher’s role as a moral compass is imperative for preserving the foundational tenets of Islamic education in the digital age
