Abstract

The problem of this research is that students still experience difficulties in writing short story texts, so that their short story writing skills have not achieved maximum results, which is influenced by the lack of application of innovative and interesting learning models and media. This study aims to determine the effect of using the Brain Writing learning model assisted by Google Sites on the short story writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 35 Medan. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method, as well as a two-group posttest only design. The population in this study were all class VIII students of SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The sample determination used a cluster random sampling technique, which became the sample in this study, namely class VIII-1 as the experimental class and class VIII-2 as the control class. Data collection techniques were carried out through short story writing tests using the Brain Writing learning model assisted by Google Sites in the experimental class and the Self Direct Learning learning model assisted by image media in the control class. The results of the study showed that the Brain Writing learning model assisted by Google Sites had an effect on students' short story writing skills. This is evidenced by the average post-test score of 81.45 for students in the experimental class, which falls into the good category, while the average post-test score for the control class was only 58.58, which is considered poor. Furthermore, the t-test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Brain Writing learning model with the assistance of Google Sites has been proven to be effective in improving the short story writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 35 Medan.

Abstract

This research is motivated by differences in students' abilities, experiences, and confidence levels in drawing activities, where drawing in elementary schools is often still bound by certain rules such as following teacher-given themes or imitating objects, which makes some students less confident and less free to express ideas through drawings. This study aims to describe the stages of free drawing as a medium of visual expression and the results of students’ drawings. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with 29 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 4 Kutoharjo, Rembang Regency as subjects. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the stages of free drawing are carried out through three processes, namely drawing based on initial abilities, developing themes based on personal ideas and experiences, and obtaining visual references as idea triggers, while the results of students' drawings show various themes such as natural scenery, culture, flora, fauna, buildings, surrounding objects, geometric shapes, and characters, and visually reflect elements such as line, shape, color, and composition, as well as containing stories that describe students’ experiences, imagination, and feelings. In general, free drawing activities provide space for students to express their ideas, imagination, and feelings more freely based on their experiences and individual characteristics.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low sentence writing skills of third-grade students at Romanglasa Elementary School in Bontonompo District, Gowa Regency, characterized by difficulties in capitalizing letters, punctuation, and constructing coherent and logical sentences. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Complete Sentences learning method on sentence writing skills in Indonesian language subjects. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental design and a One Group Pre-Test Post-Test. The subjects were 22 third-grade students. Data collection used tests (pre-test and post-test), while statistical analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test. The results showed an improvement in students' sentence writing skills after implementing the Complete Sentences method. This was demonstrated by the average post-test score of 91.59, which was higher than before the treatment. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, thus rejecting H0 and accepting H1. Thus, it can be concluded that the Complete Sentence learning method has a significant impact on improving students' sentence writing skills. This method has proven effective in improving students' ability to construct accurate, coherent, and meaningful sentences and can be an alternative, innovative learning strategy in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in SDN Kunciran 9. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the RME (Realistic Mathematic Education) learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in class IV B. This study is aquantitative research with a pre-experimental type in the form of one group pretest posttest design. The population in this study consists of 64 students, which includes 33 students from class IV A and 31 students from class IV B. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a sample size of 33 students from class IV A. The data collection techniques used in this study are tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of this study show that the paired sample t-test produced a t-table value of 2.042 and a t-count of 10.112. Thus, t-count 10.112 > t-table 2.042. This proves that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is an influence of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of child exploitation by parents in the phenomenon of underage street busking, its contributing factors, and its impact on children’s lives and development. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research to collect secondary data from various relevant scientific literature. Data collection was conducted through documentary analysis, while data analysis employed qualitative descriptive analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that child exploitation occurs in the forms of economic exploitation and physical exploitation. Economic exploitation is characterized by children’s routine involvement in busking activities accompanied by pressure to meet income targets, while physical exploitation is evident in the use of children’s labor for work exceeding their age-appropriate capacity. The primary contributing factors include low parental education levels, unstable family economic conditions, and a permissive social environment toward such practices. The resulting impacts encompass educational, social, and psychological aspects, such as reduced access to and quality of education, changes in social interaction patterns that tend to be negative, and emotional stress that affects children’s mental development. Thus, the exploitation of children in street busking is a complex issue that requires serious attention from various parties.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has made gadget use an integral part of elementary school students' daily lives. While gadgets offer potential benefits as interactive learning media, excessive and uncontrolled use may negatively affect students’ academic performance and study habits. This study aims to analyze the impact of gadget use on students’ learning achievement and study habits through a literature review approach. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research design by examining relevant scientific articles, journals, and supporting literature. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns, relationships, and key findings. The results indicate that gadget use has a dual impact. On the one hand, it can enhance students’ motivation, access to learning resources, and engagement when used appropriately. On the other hand, excessive use especially for non-educational purposes such as gaming and social media tends to reduce concentration, learning discipline, and academic performance. Furthermore, the lack of parental and teacher supervision strengthens the negative effects of gadget use. Therefore, proper guidance and controlled usage are essential to maximize the educational benefits of gadgets while minimizing their adverse impacts on elementary school students.
