Abstract

Literacy activities play a crucial role in improving the quality of education, especially at the elementary level. The low reading interest among elementary school students encourages the need for creative and participatory strategies to foster a literacy culture. This research was carried out through a read-aloud competition at SD/MI Sawocangkring Village, Sidoarjo, aiming to enhance students’ reading interest as well as expressive reading skills. The method used was a participatory approach with educational strategies through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show an increase in reading interest, text comprehension, public speaking skills, and students’ self-confidence. Moreover, the involvement of teachers, parents, and village officials provided real support in creating a sustainable literacy ecosystem. Therefore, the read-aloud competition proved effective as a medium for fostering literacy culture in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials for writing drama scripts assisted by digital comic strip media for eleventh-grade high school students. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which was limited to the stages of analysis, design, and development. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 19 Medan with the subjects consisting of students from class XI-1. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The developed product was validated by material experts and media experts. The results showed that the material expert validation obtained a percentage of 84% and the media expert validation obtained 81.33%, both categorized as highly feasible. The average validation result from both experts reached 82.67%. In addition, student responses obtained a percentage of 84.93% with a very good category. Therefore, the teaching materials assisted by digital comic strip media are considered suitable for use in learning drama script writing for eleventh-grade high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry learning model on students’ ability to analyze news texts in the seventh grade at SMPN 8 Medan. This research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this study consisted of one class, namely class VII-3, with a total of 32 students. The data collection technique used was a test in the form of 25 multiple-choice questions administered during the pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using statistical tests to examine the differences in learning outcomes before and after the treatment. The results showed that students' initial ability to analyze news texts before the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model was categorized as low, with an average score of 38.38. After the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model, students' ability increased, with an average post-test score of 82.13, categorized as good to very good. The results of the hypothesis test indicated that there was a significant effect of the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model on students' ability to analyze news texts, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.001<0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry learning model has a positive effect on the ability to analyze news texts of seventh grade students at SMPN 8 Medan.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of ChatGPT-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability and self-regulated learning (SRL) at the senior high school level. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of high school students selected through purposive sampling, divided into an experimental group using ChatGPT-assisted learning and a control group using conventional methods. Data were collected through a mathematical problem-solving test and an SRL questionnaire. The results show that students in the experimental group achieved higher improvement in problem-solving ability compared to the control group. In addition, students’ self-regulated learning was also better, particularly in planning, monitoring, and evaluation aspects. These findings indicate that the integration of ChatGPT in mathematics learning can support the development of students’ cognitive and metacognitive skills. Therefore, AI-based learning can be considered an effective alternative to enhance student-centered learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the cognitive and behavioral learning models, their implementation and influence on student learning outcomes, and to identify the advantages and disadvantages of each model. The research method used is qualitative with a literature review approach. Secondary data collection was conducted by searching relevant national and international reputable scientific journal articles. The results of the study show that the cognitive model focuses on students' internal mental processes and has a strong influence on improving high-level conceptual learning outcomes (higher-order thinking) through the application of problem-based learning, discovery learning, and mind mapping methods. Conversely, the behavioral model emphasizes observable behavioral changes through stimulus-response manipulation, which is proven to be effective in increasing the accuracy of students' basic and procedural skills through drill methods and systematic reinforcement. The advantage of the cognitive model lies in its ability to build deep understanding, but its disadvantage is the long duration of material preparation. Meanwhile, the advantage of the behavioral model lies in its efficiency in forming basic skills and discipline, but it lacks in developing critical thinking. This article concludes that a synergistic integration between cognitive and behavioral approaches can formulate a more holistic learning model in optimizing student learning outcomes as a whole. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam model pembelajaran kognitif dan behavioristik, bentuk penerapan dan pengaruhnya terhadap hasil belajar siswa, serta mengidentifikasi kelebihan dan kekurangan dari masing-masing model tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka. Pengumpulan data sekunder dilakukan melalui penelusuran artikel jurnal ilmiah bereputasi nasional dan internasional yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa model kognitif berfokus pada proses mental internal siswa dan berpengaruh kuat dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar konseptual tingkat tinggi (higher-order thinking) melalui penerapan metode problem-based learning, discovery learning, dan mind mapping. Sebaliknya, model behavioristik menekankan pada perubahan perilaku nyata melalui manipulasi stimulus-respons, yang terbukti berpengaruh efektif dalam meningkatkan akurasi keterampilan dasar dan prosedural siswa melalui metode drill dan penguatan sistematis (reinforcement). Kelebihan model kognitif terletak pada kemampuannya membangun pemahaman yang mendalam, namun memiliki kekurangan berupa durasi persiapan materi yang lama. Sementara itu, kelebihan model behavioristik terletak pada efisiensinya dalam membentuk keterampilan dasar dan disiplin, tetapi memiliki kekurangan dalam mengembangkan berpikir kritis. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi yang sinergis antara pendekatan kognitif dan behavioristik dapat menghasilkan model pembelajaran yang lebih holistik dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) learning model on the poetry writing ability of eighth grade students of MTsN 1 Medan. The research method used is quantitative with an experimental approach using a two-group posttest only control design. The research sample was determined through a simple random sampling technique, namely class VIII-D as the experimental class and VIII-F as the control class. Data collection techniques were carried out through a poetry writing test. The results showed that the average score of students in the experimental class was 80.05 (good category), while the control class was 64.62 (poor category). Hypothesis testing using a t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), so there was a significant difference between the two classes. Thus, it can be concluded that the CORE learning model has a significant influence on improving students' poetry writing abilitiesKeywords: Implementation of the Deep Dialogue Critical Thinking Learning Model, Fictional Works, Short Story Review Texts.

Abstract

The study of the book Adabul 'Alim wal Muta'alim by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari constitutes one of the most vital pillars of the salaf Islamic boarding school educational system, particularly in shaping the ethical formation of santri (students). Amid the growing wave of modernization that erodes traditional values of adab (proper conduct) among younger generations, the empirical relevance of this classical text demands systematic scholarly attention. This study aims to: (1) describe the implementation of the Adabul 'Alim wal Muta'alim book study at Salaf Paculgowang Islamic Boarding School, Diwek, Jombang; (2) analyze the implementation of its embedded ethical values in the formation of santri ethics; and (3) identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in this process. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing validated by source and technique triangulation. Findings reveal: first, the book study is conducted routinely through bandongan and sorogan methods, hallmark traditions of salaf pesantren; second, the implementation of ethical values is realized through three primary channels exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah) of the kiai and ustaz, daily habituation (ta'wid), and enforcement of pesantren regulations collectively forming ethical dispositions including respect for teachers, discipline, responsibility, sincerity in learning, and courteous behavior; third, supporting factors include educators' exemplary roles and the religious pesantren environment, while inhibiting factors include modernization influences, disparate student awareness, and limited instructional time.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the still low digital competence of teachers and the suboptimal use of technology in learning. The study aims to analyze the integration of teachers’ pedagogical and digital competencies in improving learning quality through the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) approach. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), examining 20 scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025 from Google Scholar and other relevant sources. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and systematic conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the integration of pedagogical and digital competencies based on TPACK can enhance student interaction, motivation, and learning outcomes, particularly through the implementation of technology-based learning models such as blended learning and e-learning. The study also shows that the success of integration is influenced by teacher competence, infrastructure availability, and educational policy support. This research emphasizes that mastery of TPACK is key to transforming learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of the “curriculum of love” as a pedagogical paradigm that integrates spiritual and humanistic dimensions in Islamic education through a comparative approach to the thoughts of Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah (Hamka) and Paulo Freire. Hamka views education as a process of developing human nature (fitrah) through moral formation, spiritual strengthening, and the attainment of balance between worldly and hereafter life based on the values of tawhid and modern Sufism, while Freire positions education as a process of humanization and liberation through the development of critical consciousness built upon dialogue and pedagogical relationships grounded in love for humanity. Although emerging from different intellectual traditions, both thinkers share common ground in viewing education as a transformative process aimed at fully humanizing human beings. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research and comparative-hermeneutic analysis through the examination of the major works of both figures and relevant supporting literature. The findings reveal that the synthesis of Hamka’s and Freire’s thoughts produces a conceptual framework of the “curriculum of love” consisting of five main dimensions: tawhid as a spiritual foundation, dialogue as a pedagogical approach, liberation as the orientation of education, morality (akhlak) as a humanistic goal, and learning communities as spaces of social praxis. This concept offers an alternative to educational paradigms that tend to focus merely on cognitive and administrative aspects and is relevant in addressing the challenges of educational secularization, dehumanization caused by technological development, and the moral crisis in contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

Personality competence is an important aspect of teacher professionalism because it is related to integrity, emotional stability, maturity, exemplary behavior, and the quality of interaction with students. This study aims to analyze the concepts, dimensions, formative factors, development strategies, and impact of personality competence on teacher professionalism. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review by adapting the PRISMA 2020 flow. Data were obtained from SINTA-indexed journal articles and Google Scholar published from 2018 to 2025. A total of 14 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings show that personality competence includes being steady, stable, mature, wise, authoritative, morally upright, polite, reflective, and exemplary. This competence is shaped by internal, external, and institutional factors. Its development strategies include character-based training, self-reflection, mentoring, coaching, learning communities, transformative supervision, and the strengthening of moral and spiritual values. This review emphasizes the importance of personality competence in developing teacher professionalism.
