Abstract

Writing descriptive text is one of the basic literacy skills that elementary school students must master. However, many students still experience difficulties in developing ideas, choosing appropriate vocabulary, and organizing sentences coherently. This study aims to identify students’ difficulties in writing descriptive texts, describe the concept and implementation of Pop-Up Book media with a scientific approach, and synthesize findings from previous studies regarding the effectiveness of their integration. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and ResearchGate using relevant keywords, resulting in 45 initial articles that were later screened into 15 articles based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings indicate that the use of Pop-Up Book media integrated with the scientific approach (5M: observing, questioning, experimenting, reasoning, and communicating) had a significant effect on improving students’ descriptive writing skills. Students became better at developing ideas, using varied vocabulary, and producing more structured writing.

Abstract

Sexual violence against children and adolescents remains a serious problem that often goes unreported due to social stigma, fear, and low awareness of victims to report. In this context, the role of volunteers from the Indonesian Safe Brother Foundation is crucial in fostering the courage to speak up as a form of self-protection. This study aims to analyze the role of volunteers in providing education and building children's courage to disclose experiences of sexual violence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study, while data collection techniques include in-depth interviews and observations. The main research subjects included three volunteers and three elementary school children who were the targets of the education program. The results show that volunteers play a crucial role as educational agents in building children's courage to speak up. Through a child-friendly and participatory approach, volunteers successfully increased children's understanding of body boundaries, types of sexual violence, and self-protection steps such as "no, run, report."

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), especially the Aqidah Akhlaq material, in shaping the character of polite students in the school environment. However, technological developments, the influence of social media, and the lack of family supervision pose challenges in shaping students' character. This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education on the Aqidah Akhlaq material in shaping the character of polite students of grade X at SMA 45 Purwodadi, Pasuruan, and identify supporting factors, inhibiting factors, and efforts made to overcome them. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively. The results show that the implementation of Aqidah Akhlaq learning is carried out through habituation of religious activities, teacher role models, and interactive learning. This program has a positive impact on student behavior, such as increasing respect for teachers, habits of greeting, being mindful of speech, and respecting the opinions of friends. Supporting factors include a religious school environment, the support of the principal, and parental cooperation, while inhibiting factors include the influence of social media and lack of family supervision. Overall, learning Akidah Akhlaq has proven effective in forming students' polite character.

Abstract

Developing personality instruments to evaluate a teacher's characteristics and psychological aspects has become a major focus in educational research. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure personality dimensions relevant to the educational context. The research method used is library research, which involves reviewing literature to identify personality dimensions suited to teacher performance and developing questionnaire items based on a theoretical framework. The process of drafting teacher personality assessments begins with an instrument blueprint (table of specifications) aligned with predetermined competencies. Once the blueprint is established, it is developed into specific questions to create an effective assessment. Regular teacher personality assessments are expected to support the ongoing development of a teacher's personality.

Abstract

This research was motivated by a managerial paradox at SD No 5 Kapal, where strong visionary and participative leadership had not been accompanied by adequate administrative transparency. The study aimed to analyze and formulate transparency reconstruction strategies to synchronize the principal's vision with accountability within the School-Based Management (SBM) framework. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through structured observation and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that visionary leadership and participative decision-making are in the "very good" category (score 4), while the transparency aspect remains in the "fair" category (score 2). This gap hinders the effectiveness of school autonomy and risks decreasing stakeholder trust. Reconstruction through report digitalization and public information disclosure is a crucial solution. In conclusion, synchronization between a progressive vision and accountability is absolutely necessary to create professional and credible school governance. Keywords: accountability, SBM, transparency, visionary leadership.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the relationship between teachers' perceptions of the visual quality of mind maps and the intensity of their use in elementary school learning. The research employed a quantitative correlational approach using a survey method. The subjects consisted of 20 elementary school teachers from Makassar selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a 4-point Likert scale comprising 20 items: Variable X (Teachers' Perception of Visual Quality of Mind Maps) with 10 items covering visual appeal, clarity of visual elements, readability and layout accuracy, and suitability with materials. Variable Y (Intensity of Mind Map Use) with 10 items covering frequency, diversity, consistency of use, and student involvement. Validity testing using Pearson Product Moment correlation (r-table = 0.444, n=20, α=0.05) showed 16 of 20 items were valid. Four negative-statement items (items 3, 6, 12, and 16) were declared invalid and excluded from further analysis. Reliability testing using Cronbach's Alpha yielded α = 0.70 for Variable X and α = 0.78 for Variable Y, both exceeding the minimum standard of 0.60. Descriptive statistics showed a mean score of 30.9 for Variable X and 28.3 for Variable Y from a maximum possible score of 40. Pearson correlation analysis yielded r = 0.632, exceeding r-table (0.444) and classified as a strong positive correlation. The coefficient of determination r² = 0.40 indicates that 39.97% of the variation in mind map use intensity is explained by teachers' perceptions of visual quality. These findings confirm a significant positive relationship between the two variables.
