Abstract

Low mathematics learning outcomes among elementary school students in Indonesia remain a persistent educational challenge, as reflected in national numeracy data consistently falling in the low category. One innovative approach considered promising is the use of local wisdom-based learning media, particularly the traditional game of congklak. Although several studies have examined congklak's effectiveness, a comprehensive systematic synthesis of findings has yet to be conducted. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of local wisdom-based congklak media on elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Articles were retrieved from Google Scholar, SINTA, and Garuda databases for the period 2019–2025 using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Of 20 articles identified, 15 met the inclusion criteria for in-depth analysis. Findings indicate that: (1) local wisdom-based congklak media consistently improves mathematics learning outcomes in whole number operations, GCD, LCM, and integers; (2) average improvement ranges from 15% to 40% compared to conventional instruction; and (3) congklak promotes active engagement, learning motivation, and conceptual understanding. This study concludes that local wisdom-based congklak is a viable mathematics learning medium in elementary schools and should be supported by teacher training and standardized implementation guidelines.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has led to a transformation in the field of education, including in the subject of sociology at secondary school level. Sociology is abstract, conceptual, and contextual in nature, so a relevant teaching approach is required. This article aims to examine and analyse the effectiveness of using digital media in sociology lessons at secondary school level through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The results of the study show that the use of digital media in sociology lessons at secondary school level is very diverse, including gamification platforms (Gimkit, Kahoot, Wordwall), interactive visual media (Canva), online platforms (Microsoft Sway, blogs), and video-based media (YouTube, animated videos). The use of these various media has been shown to be effective in increasing the motivation, interest, and learning outcomes of students. In terms of motivation and interest, gamification-based media can create a more enjoyable learning environment, making students more enthusiastic. In terms of improving learning outcomes, visual media, video tutorials, and online platforms can help students understand sociological concepts through concrete visualisation. These findings suggest that integrating digital media into teaching, particularly in sociology, is an effective way to overcome the limitations of traditional approaches and support 21st-century learning that is relevant and contextual.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students' low fiqh literacy, due to their weak mastery of the tools and the use of less innovative learning methods. This study aims to describe the application of the Al Miftah Lil Ulum Method and analyze the improvement in fiqh literacy of seventh-grade students at MTs Muallimin Muallimat Sunan Drajat Lamongan. This study used a mixed methods approach with the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, implemented in two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, testing, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that the application of the Al Miftah Lil Ulum Method significantly improved students' fiqh literacy. This was demonstrated by an increase in students' average score from 64.5 in the pre-cycle with 30% completion, to 74.5 in the first cycle with 65% completion, and to 85.5 in the second cycle with 80% completion. Furthermore, student activity and engagement in learning also increased. Thus, the Al Miftah Lil Ulum Method is effective in improving students' fiqh literacy and can be a solution in fiqh learning in Islamic boarding school context.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low metacognitive ability of students in learning Akidah Akhlak. The purpose of this study is to determine how the Mindful Learning Participation approach affects the metacognitive ability of eighth grade students (VIII) at MTs Sumbersari Kowang. The methodology used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. By using a saturated sampling technique, namely between the control class and the experimental class. Researchers collected data with a questionnaire, and normality tests, homogeneity, Pearson Product Moment correlation, and independent sample t-test and paired t-test. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. With a significance level (0.520) and a correlation coefficient of (-0.132), in the control group which did not show a clear relationship. In contrast, in the experimental class a positive and significant relationship was obtained with a correlation coefficient (0.472) and a significance level (0.011) which was smaller than (0.05). Therefore, students' metacognitive skills improved in the experimental class between the pretest and posttest. According to the t-test results, which also showed a significant difference between the control and experimental classes. Therefore, it can be said that the Mindful Learning Participation strategy significantly influences the improvement of students' metacognitive skills. This approach is effective in increasing students' learning awareness, active participation, and ability to regulate, monitor, and assess their learning process.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the phenomenon of declining performance among female handball athletes in Purworejo Regency during official matches due to nervousness and a lack of self-confidence, even though they demonstrated good technical skills during practice. The purpose of this study was to conduct an in-depth analysis of the athletes’ self-confidence levels prior to matches. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation of athletes, coaches, and administrators. The results of the study indicate that athletes’ self-confidence levels are uneven and still fluctuate, influenced by six main components: self-belief, anxiety control, optimism, competition experience, support system, and mental readiness. Competition experience was found to be the most dominant factor in shaping athletes’ readiness. Mental readiness is generally not yet optimal due to the absence of structured mental training programs integrated into routine training schemes. This study concludes that athletes’ self-belief is the result of a complex dynamic interaction between emotional regulation, social support, and experience. Therefore, a structured mental strenghthening program is needed to help athletes consistenly achieve peak performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving students’ learning motivation and Qur’anic reading ability at MA Yasti, Sukabumi. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. This approach was chosen to gain an in-depth understanding of the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in the learning process, as well as the factors influencing students’ learning motivation and Qur’anic reading skills. The research subjects consisted of the head of the madrasah, Islamic Religious Education teachers, homeroom teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation and method triangulation. The findings revealed that Islamic Religious Education teachers play significant roles as educators, motivators, facilitators, mentors, and evaluators in improving students’ learning motivation and Qur’anic reading ability. The teachers’ efforts included providing motivation, applying interactive learning methods, habituating students to read the Qur’an before class, guiding tajwid and makharij al-huruf, implementing the talaqqi method, and conducting periodic evaluations. The results also showed improvements in students’ learning participation, self-confidence, and Qur’anic reading proficiency. Supporting factors included teacher competence, a religious school environment, learning facilities, and parental support, while inhibiting factors included low motivation among some students, differences in basic abilities, and limited instructional time.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ethics of work relations from the perspective of hadith and its implications for the prevention of negative seniority practices in the work environment. Seniority that originally functioned as a form of appreciation for experience often shifted into a practice of domination, discrimination, and abuse of authority. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of literature study and thematic hadith method (maudhu'i). The primary data source comes from the hadiths in Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim, while secondary data is obtained from relevant books, scientific journals, and previous research. The results of the study show that the hadith contains important ethical values of work relations, such as justice ('adl), responsibility (amanah), humility (tawadhu'), and brotherhood (ukhuwah). These values reject all forms of tyranny, arrogance, and degradation of human dignity. The implications of this study show that the application of hadith values can be the basis for the formation of a fair, inclusive, and humanist work culture, as well as a strategy to prevent harmful seniority practices.

Abstract

  This study aims to analyze the effect of Qur'an memorization on the spiritual quality of adult participants at the Risalatuna Qur'an Guidance Institution, South Jakarta. The study was motivated by the assumption that memorizing the Qur'an can improve spiritual awareness, emotional calmness, worship discipline, and closeness to Allah. However, in practice, not all participants who memorize the Qur'an experience significant spiritual improvement. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach involving 40 adult participants selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using questionnaires on spiritual quality consisting of 24 statement items and supported by data on the participants’ level of Qur'an memorization. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation and simple linear regression analysis. The findings revealed that there was a positive relationship between Qur'an memorization and the spiritual quality of adult participants with a correlation coefficient value of 0.315, indicating a low relationship level. The significance value obtained was 0.051, which indicates that the relationship was not statistically significant at the 5% significance level, although it approached significance. The coefficient of determination showed that Qur'an memorization contributed 9.9% to the spiritual quality of participants, while the remaining 90.1% was influenced by other factors such as religious environment, worship habits, and psychological conditions. Therefore, Qur'an memorization still plays a role in improving spiritual quality, although it is not the dominant factor affecting spiritual development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship and influence of the learning environment on learning motivation, mathematical resilience, and mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students. This research method uses a literature study method by reviewing 43 relevant journal articles published between 2020-2025. Data collection techniques are carried out through the Google Scholar database using specific keywords. The article selection process is carried out through the process stages, include, exclude. Includes: (1) researchers enter the keyword "Learning Environment" then there are 2,530,000 articles. (2) researchers filter articles by adding the keyword "Elementary School" there are 1,790,000 articles. (3) researchers add the keywords "Learning Motivation, Mathematical Resilience, and Learning Outcomes" there are 2,260. (4) researchers adjust journals that are relevant to the research title and get 1,010. (5) then researchers filter based on the abstract to get 125 articles. (6) researchers download articles that can be opened and the suitability of the title and research subject, namely 43 articles. Data analysis was conducted through four stages, namely: (1) source collection, namely the identification and downloading of 43 relevant articles through the systematic procedures that have been explained; (2) source criticism, namely the assessment of the authenticity and accuracy of the article content through internal criticism that includes a review of the author's credibility, journal reputation, and the suitability of the content to the research focus; (3) interpretation, namely the interpretation of facts obtained from the literature within the framework of reconstructing findings to form factual and logical values ​​and meanings; (4) historiography, namely the systematic preparation of research reports in accordance with applicable scientific provisions. Data validity is guaranteed through source triangulation, member checking by fellow researchers, and reference source validation sheets that have been validated by expert lecturers.The results of the study indicate that the learning environment has a significant relationship and influence on these variables. A conducive learning environment provides stimulation that can increase student engagement, while emotional support can help strengthen student resilience in facing math difficulties. The results of this study indicate that the school environment, such as classroom climate and supportive social interactions (non-physical environment), has a more significant influence than the family and community environment in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes. This study concludes that structuring the learning environment is a key factor in optimizing the mathematical achievement of the remainder of elementary school.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology, particularly deep learning, has opened up opportunities for analyzing students' non-cognitive aspects, such as emotions and focus levels during the learning process. This study aims to analyze the development of the use of deep learning-based facial expression recognition (FER) in identifying students' emotions and focus, and to examine the relationship between these two aspects in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade elementary school students. The scope of the study focuses on a review of various previous studies related to the application of FER in educational contexts, particularly those related to the analysis of student engagement. The method used is a qualitative approach with a literature review. Data were obtained from various scientific sources in the form of relevant research journal articles. The data analysis process was carried out using qualitative descriptive techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions by comparing and interpreting findings from various previous studies. The results of the study indicate that deep learning-based FER technology, especially with the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model, is able to classify various student emotional expressions such as happy, sad, angry, neutral, confused, and bored with a relatively high level of accuracy. In addition, it was found that students' emotional states have a significant relationship with the level of learning focus, where positive emotions tend to increase concentration, while negative emotions contribute to decreased attention. Thus, it can be concluded that the integration of FER-based emotion and focus analysis has the potential to become a more objective, adaptive, and technology-based learning evaluation tool. However, its implementation still requires further development and attention to technical aspects, infrastructure readiness, and ethical use of student data.
