Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of hill sprint training in improving leg muscle explosive power and maximum speed of 400-meter runners among students of the Sports Coaching Education (PKO) study program at Universitas Sulawesi Tenggara. Explosive power and maximum speed are two dominant biomotor components that determine 400-meter running performance, yet many student athletes still show suboptimal achievement in both components. This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 students selected through total sampling. Leg muscle explosive power was measured using the standing broad jump test and maximum speed was measured using the 30-meter sprint test. Treatment was given in the form of hill sprint training for 16 sessions with a frequency of three times per week. Data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test after fulfilling the normality prerequisite test. The results showed a significant increase in leg muscle explosive power (t = 11.24; p = 0.000 < 0.05) with an average increase of 7.7%, and a significant increase in maximum speed indicated by a decrease in 30-meter sprint time (t = 9.86; p = 0.000 < 0.05) with an average improvement of 4.6%. Thus, hill sprint training is effective in improving leg muscle explosive power and maximum speed of 400-meter runners.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the General Citizenship Course in shaping the national identity of students at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta). The research is motivated by the phenomenon of weakening national identity among students due to the influences of globalization, information technology advancements, and the influx of foreign cultures. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the General Citizenship Course plays a role in enhancing students' understanding of national identity, internalizing national values—such as patriotism, tolerance, and responsibility—and fostering the implementation of national identity in campus life through respect for diversity, adherence to rules, and participation in student activities. Thus, the General Citizenship Course plays a significant role in shaping students' national identity, although further strengthening is still needed regarding the application of national values in daily life.

Abstract

Educational development in the era of globalization and digital disruption is characterized by increasing demands for performance, efficiency, and institutional competitiveness. In practice, however, an excessive focus on technical and administrative aspects often shifts attention away from essential human dimensions, ethical considerations, and the psychological well-being of educational communities. This condition highlights the need for a leadership approach that is not solely outcome-oriented but also capable of addressing educational complexity through reflective and value-based practices. This study aims to examine and formulate a conceptual framework of mindfulness-based leadership within Buddhist educational management by integrating contemporary leadership theories with Buddhist principles of awareness. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing relevant scholarly publications. The findings indicate that mindfulness-based leadership contributes to the enhancement of self-awareness, ethical sensitivity, emotional intelligence, and the quality of leaders’ decision-making processes, while also fostering inclusive and adaptive organizational cultures. These findings suggest that integrating Buddhist awareness into educational leadership practices can serve as both a conceptual and practical foundation for the development of ethical, reflective, and holistic leadership in Buddhist educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to qualitatively analyze and describe the rhetorical strategies and linguistic principles employed by 10th-grade students at MAN 2 Bengkulu City in composing written negotiation texts based on school environmental issues. Negotiation skills are an essential competency in Phase E of the Merdeka Curriculum, which integrates persuasive skills and language-based conflict management. The research approach used is qualitative, employing content analysis. The subjects of this study are 10th-grade students at MAN 2 Bengkulu City for the 2025/2026 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through documentation of student negotiation text drafts in their portfolios, observation of text-drafting activities, and in-depth interviews with student representatives and Indonesian language teachers. Data validity was tested using methodological triangulation and data source triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results of the study indicate that, in terms of rhetoric, students predominantly employed the logos strategy (logical appeal) by utilizing empirical facts from the school environment, followed by the pathos strategy (emotional appeal) to foster empathy, while the use of the ethos strategy (personal credibility) remained very limited. In terms of politeness in language use, students tend to adhere to the maxim of wisdom and the maxim of acceptance (the maxim of generosity) to minimize harm to their conversation partners. However, violations of the modesty maxim were also found due to the dominance of adolescent egos in defending their arguments. Internal factors, such as a limited formal vocabulary, and external factors, such as a lack of contextual practice, are the main obstacles students face in combining persuasive rhetoric with ideal politeness.
