Abstract

Abstract

Literacy and numeracy are the abilities of students to use basic mathematics in solving daily life problems, and students should have it. Various studies have shown that Indonesian students' literacy and numeracy skills still need to improve. One of the solutions to this problem is RME, and one of the components that influence this skill is teachers as a facilitator and their experiences. Thus, this research aims to refigure how students who receive Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) literacy and numeracy skills improve based on teacher's experiences. The research subjects are third, fourth, and fifth-grade students in elementary schools in Padang. Three schools were selected for each grade level and taught by three teachers with different experiences. The students were given literacy and numeracy problems before and after RME instruction. The answers were assessed and grouped to examine the student's literacy and numeracy achievement. The research results show that student's literacy and numeracy skills are better with RME learning. Student's literacy and numeracy skills are not influenced by teachers' experience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using ice breaking in increasing students' learning motivation in elementary schools. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach. The analysis results show that the application of ice breaking in learning in elementary schools has a positive and significant impact on students' learning motivation. Ice breaking can make students more active, enthusiastic, and focused on learning, thus improving their learning outcomes. Learning motivation is an important factor in learning, as it can affect various abilities and student learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers need to understand and foster motivation for learning in students using ice breaking in the learning process so that students can achieve success in learning.

Abstract

The homeroom teacher plays a crucial role as a parental substitute in strengthening students' character at school. One method of character reinforcement is through the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile (P4). Effective and consistent management by the homeroom teacher is essential for this implementation. This study aims to develop a homeroom teacher management model to enhance the quality of strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The study addresses three main research questions: the characteristics of the homeroom teacher management model, its validity, and its practicality. Data collection instruments included observation sheets and questionnaires validated by experts. The product was validated by experts and tested at SDN 01 Koto Baru and SDN 13 Koto Baru. Qualitative data were gathered through surveys, and qualitative insights were obtained through observations, feedback, and written suggestions for improvement. Needs analysis results indicated deficiencies in the planning, organization, execution, and evaluation of activities by homeroom teachers. This research produced a validated instrument that is both valid and reliable. The practicality of the homeroom teacher management model to enhance the Pancasila Student Profile, and the management guide, was determined based on homeroom teachers' responses to the model's practicality and guidance. The study resulted in a homeroom teacher management model and a management guidebook to improve the quality of strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. These findings are expected to significantly contribute to homeroom teachers in reinforcing students' character in alignment with the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

COVID-19 caused the learning process to change from a face-to-face learning process to a distance learning process by using various applications. However, this learning process is also considered less effective in math because students’ conceptual understanding is imperfect. The imperfection of this concept caused students to experience learning loss. This research aimed to analyze students’ learning loss in elementary schools in mathematics subjects. This research used a qualitative research design with a case study type of research. This research involved 280 fifth-grade students from 4 elementary schools. The research results showed that students experienced learning loss in understanding geometry and fraction concepts. Students cannot solve math problems if the problem contains two concepts at once. According to the students, they did not understand these three topics well because when studying these topics, they carried out a distance learning process. Based on these findings, researchers concluded that students experienced learning loss in the high category, with 82% students affected. This study highlights the need for teachers to address learning loss that students experience in geometry and fraction materials. Thus, mathematics teachers can prepare learning tools to help students overcome learning loss.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the absence of interactive flipbook-based teaching materials in elementary schools. This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of interactive flipbooks on the material of the application of norms in life in grade 5 elementary school. This research is a type of R&D (Research and Development) research. The development model used is the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research data consists of qualitative data and quantitative data. The results showed that: 1) The results of the validity test by three validators obtained a percentage of 90% from material experts, 97.5% from media experts, and 82.5% from linguists with a very valid category. 2) The results of the practicality test showed an average percentage of teachers of 92.28% with a very practical category, and the and student practicality tests averaged 96.61% with a very practical category. Therefore it can be concluded that the development of interactive flipbook based on the topic of applying norms in life in grade v elementary school is very feasible to use in the learning process.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low use of technology-based interactive media in Pancasila Education at elementary schools, especially in Cluster 1 of Lubuk Suhuing District. The media used is still limited to images and internet videos, and the use of Canva is not optimal. This study aims to develop interactive media using Canva based on the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model that is valid, practical, and effective. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D model from Thiagarajan, including Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. Trial subjects involved material experts, media experts, language experts, two teachers, and fifth grade students from two schools. Instruments used were validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed the media developed obtained a validity score of 86% from material experts, 85% from teachers, and 90% from students, categorized as "Very Valid". Practicality scores reached 96.8% from teachers and 95.1% from students. The media was declared effective based on learning outcomes, with 100% of students achieving mastery in both trial schools. Thus, this Canva-based PBL interactive media is suitable for improving the effectiveness and quality of Pancasila Education learning.
