Abstract

Examining environmental issues in children's literature is crucial, as it plays an important role in shaping values, sensitivity, and ecological reasoning. This study aims to analyze the construction of environmental issues in the children's novel Mata dan Manusia Laut by Okky Madasari and to formulate its implications for strengthening ecological literacy. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the study utilizes an ecocritical approach and narrative structure analysis. The findings reveal that environmental issues in the novel are constructed through five patterns: relational, ecological conflict, local ethics, corrective, and pedagogical. These patterns are developed through the interplay of characters, setting, conflict, and plot, representing the human–environment relationship while supporting the development of ecological literacy across the dimensions of knowledge, attitudes, culture, and reflection. This study contributes to the advancement of ecocritical studies in children's literature and provides a conceptual foundation for ecological literacy-based literature instruction in schools.

Abstract

Microscopic algae play an important role as indicators of aquatic ecosystem health; however, their instruction in classrooms often faces challenges due to their minute size and abstract nature, making them difficult for students to comprehend. This study is a research and development (R&D) project using the ADDIE model, focusing on the development stage. It aims to describe the diversity of microscopic algae found in brackish water ponds in Muara Kintap Village and to evaluate the validity and readability of the developed e-handout. A descriptive method was used, involving two content experts, one media expert, and twelve students for the readability test. The results revealed 21 species of microscopic algae classified into three classes. The developed e-handout received an average score of 4.08 (very valid) in content validation, 4.85 (very valid) in media validation, and 4.33 (very good) in the readability test. These findings indicate that the e-handout is suitable as supplementary teaching material in biology learning, especially in the Cryptogamae course covering microscopic algae.

Abstract

This study aims to determinate: 1) the feasibility of the material and media video tutorial leaf folding container; 2) the effectiveness of video tutorial learning media in improving students skills. This study uses the 4D Thiagarajan model which is carried out up to the third stage. The research stages include the following stages: define, design, develop. Assesment of the suitability of learning materials and media using a scale likert 1-4. The object of the research is a leaf folding video tutorial learning media. The research subject are students of SMK Negeri 3 Kediri culinary expertise program phase E. Data analysis of the effectiveness of the learning media using N-Gain. The results of this study indicate that: 1) validation by material experts obtained an average score of 88% with criteria of “Very Appropiate”; 2) validation results by media experts obtained an average score of 87% with criteria of “Very Appropiate”; 3) the results of the assessment of the effectiveness of learning media in improving students skills showed an increase as evidenced by the results pre-test of 65,44 and post test 79,94%. Analysis using N-Gain the result was 0,30 with a “Medium” criterion. Thus, the develop leaf folding video tutorial learning media is highly suitable for implementation inthe learning process and quite effective in improving student skills.

Abstract

Digital transformation in elementary school educational administration in Indonesia has developed rapidly, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to explore the use of digital technology in administrative management and learning processes at the elementary school level, encompassing the types of digitally managed data, purposes of technology implementation, encountered challenges along with their solutions, and mechanisms for evaluating technology effectiveness. A qualitative approach was employed using semi-structured interviews. Participants consisted of 12 teachers from various public elementary schools (SDN) and Islamic elementary schools (MI), selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed through reduction, categorization, descriptive presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that digitalization of student data, learning documents, report cards, and attendance has progressed incrementally through platforms such as Dapodik, e-Rapor, and Google Sites. The primary objectives of technology implementation include time efficiency, data accuracy, improvement of learning quality, and development of teachers' digital literacy. Major challenges encompass limited internet infrastructure, insufficient devices, disparities in teachers' digital competencies, and data security threats. Applied solutions include regular training, peer mentoring systems, and optimization of available devices. Effectiveness evaluation is conducted through principal monitoring, monthly meetings, and interactive learning assessments. This study concludes that the success of elementary school administrative digitalization is highly dependent on infrastructure readiness, human resource competencies, and systematic policy support.

Abstract

The development of land transport infrastructure plays a strategic role in enhancing regional connectivity, supporting public mobility, and driving economic growth across ASEAN nations. However, the availability of extensive infrastructure does not necessarily guarantee efficient utilization. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of land transport utilization in the ASEAN-5 countries—Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand—during the 2015–2022 period. A quantitative approach was employed using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, specifically the input-oriented Constant Returns to Scale (CRS) model. The input variables included total road length, total paved road length, and the number of motor vehicles, while the output variables comprised the total number of road-based commercial vehicles, urban population, and the transport sector's GDP. The results indicate that the efficiency levels of land transport infrastructure utilization among the ASEAN-5 countries varied throughout the 2015–2022 period. Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei most frequently reached the efficiency frontier, whereas Indonesia and Malaysia did not achieve an efficient state during the study period.

Abstract

Educational quality is a key indicator of the success of educational management and is influenced by various factors, one of which is the principal's leadership. Transformational leadership is considered an effective approach because it inspires, motivates, encourages innovation, and fosters the commitment of all school members to achieving shared goals. SMP Negeri 2 Pabelan was selected as the research site due to its Excellent accreditation and its continuous implementation of educational quality improvement programs. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the principal's transformational leadership style in improving educational quality at SMP Negeri 2 Pabelan, particularly in developing quality standards and transforming the school culture. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, educational staff, and supporting documents. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation, while data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the principal has effectively implemented the four dimensions of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. These dimensions were reflected in the formulation of a quality-oriented school vision and mission, participatory school program development, continuous academic supervision, teacher professional development, motivation and appreciation for teachers and staff, and the strengthening of a collaborative, disciplined, and innovative work culture. Furthermore, the principal fostered open communication, increased stakeholder participation, and established a quality culture that supports effective learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the role-playing approach in character learning for fifth graders at SDN 11 Dangerakko. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects consisted of fifth grade teachers and fifth grade students of SDN 11 Dangerakko. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was tested using source triangulation, technical triangulation, and time triangulation. The results showed that the implementation of the role-playing approach was carried out through the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of learning. In the planning stage, teachers prepared learning materials, determined themes, prepared scenarios, assigned roles, and integrated character values ​​into learning activities. In the implementation stage, students actively participated in role-playing so they gained direct experience in understanding character values. Character values ​​developed through role-playing activities include honesty, responsibility, cooperation, discipline, empathy, and self-confidence. However, the implementation still faced several obstacles, such as time constraints, students' shyness to perform, and limited supporting media. Therefore, more effective learning management is needed so that the implementation of the role-playing approach can take place optimally in character learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in physical fitness material, due to the teacher not having implemented game modification methods, which resulted in students being less active, quickly bored, and failing to achieve the Minimum Competency Assessment. The aim of this research is to improve the physical fitness learning outcomes of students in class VIII.1 at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. This study employed Classroom Action Research with 32 students as subjects, conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques used modified physical fitness tests and assessments, while data analysis was carried out qualitatively and descriptively based on observation sheets and reflections. The results showed an increase in the average learning outcomes from 74.16 in cycle I to 84.88 in cycle II. In conclusion, the application of the game modification method proved effective in improving the physical fitness learning outcomes of students in class VIII.1 at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang, and is therefore recommended as an innovative learning alternative for physical education teachers

Abstract

  Learning interest is an important factor influencing students' learning success, yet preliminary observations indicated that the learning interest of fifth-grade students in the IPAS subject at SDN 1 Bangunjaya, Pakel District, Tulungagung Regency, was relatively low. This study aims to describe and analyze the learning interest of fifth-grade students during IPAS learning using flipbook learning media. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects were 24 fifth-grade students, consisting of 12 male and 12 female students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students' overall learning interest fell into the very good category, with a total score of 1574 (82.00%). The indicator of willingness to participate in learning obtained the highest percentage (86.46%), while the attention indicator obtained the lowest percentage (75.26%), although it remained in the good category. Interview and documentation results further reinforced these findings, showing that students exhibited enthusiasm, comfort, and active engagement during learning. This study concludes that flipbook learning media is effective in fostering elementary students' learning interest in the IPAS subject. Keywords: Elemenary school, Flipbook, IPAS, Learning interest, Learning media ABSTRAK Minat belajar merupakan faktor penting yang memengaruhi keberhasilan pembelajaran siswa, namun observasi awal menunjukkan minat belajar siswa kelas 5 pada mata pelajaran IPAS di SDN 1 Bangunjaya Kecamatan Pakel Kabupaten Tulungagung masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis minat belajar siswa kelas 5 selama pembelajaran IPAS menggunakan media pembelajaran flipbook. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah 24 siswa kelas 5, terdiri atas 12 siswa laki-laki dan 12 siswa perempuan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman, meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa minat belajar siswa secara keseluruhan berada pada kategori sangat baik dengan perolehan skor 1574 (82,00%). Indikator keinginan mengikuti pembelajaran memperoleh persentase tertinggi (86,46%), sedangkan indikator perhatian memperoleh persentase terendah (75,26%) meskipun tetap berada pada kategori baik. Hasil wawancara dan dokumentasi turut memperkuat temuan tersebut, di mana siswa menunjukkan antusiasme, kenyamanan belajar, dan keterlibatan aktif selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran flipbook efektif dalam menumbuhkan minat belajar siswa sekolah dasar pada mata pelajaran IPAS. Abstract

This study examines the community empowerment process through the Culinary Entrepreneurship Life Skills Program at PKBM Ummatan Wasathon in Kasemen District, Serang City. The program was established to address unemployment and the skills gap between the community and labor market demands by equipping learners with practical culinary entrepreneurship skills, thereby fostering economic self-reliance. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed—utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation to outline the empowerment stages undertaken. The findings reveal that the empowerment process unfolded in seven stages: preparation, assessment, alternative planning, action plan formulation, implementation, evaluation, and termination. During the preparation stage, administrators formed a committee, selected facilitators, and established a partnership with the Bakti Mulia Sejahtera Producer Cooperative. The assessment stage involved psychological testing to map participants' interests and aptitudes, although challenges arose regarding participants' lack of interest in entrepreneurship. Program implementation took place twice weekly per batch but faced obstacles such as limited practical facilities and diverse participant knowledge backgrounds. Evaluations were conducted periodically to monitor the development of the learners' attitudes, knowledge, and skills. Overall, the program is considered effective in equipping learners with skills applicable to competing in the labor market or independently launching culinary businesses.
