Abstract

This study aimed to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based Water Cycle Diorama as a learning medium for Phase C elementary school students, to determine its validity and practicality, and to describe students' responses to its implementation in science (IPAS) learning. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The study was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Pisangcandi with one media expert, one material expert, one fifth-grade teacher, and 21 fifth-grade students as participants. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings revealed that the developed media achieved validity scores of 96.8% from the media expert and 95.2% from the material expert, both categorized as highly valid. The teacher's assessment reached 98.5%, indicating that the media was highly practical. Furthermore, the attractiveness test yielded scores of 97.5% in the small-group trial and 98.2% in the large-group trial, both categorized as highly attractive. These findings indicate that the AR-based Water Cycle Diorama is feasible for science learning because it effectively visualizes abstract concepts, promotes interactive learning, and supports active, contextual, and student-centered instruction.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between flexibility and dollyo chagi kick performance among female taekwondo athletes in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province. The research was correlational in nature, employing a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The population and sample consisted of 30 female taekwondo athletes selected through total sampling. The independent variable (X) was flexibility, measured using the side split test, while the dependent variable (Y) was dollyo chagi kick performance, measured through the ratio of kick height to body height. Data were analyzed using the Liliefors normality test and Pearson Product Moment correlation, followed by a t-test. The results showed a correlation coefficient of r = -0.7205 with tcount = 5.4979 > ttable = 2.0484 at a significance level of α = 0.05 (p = 0.000; p<0.05), indicating that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. Both instruments were standardized instruments based on the measurement norms of Widiastuti (2021), thereby satisfying content validity for measuring flexibility and dollyo chagi kick performance. The negative sign occurred because the side split instrument uses an inverse scale, meaning the relationship is functionally positive and strong. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 51.91% indicates the effective contribution of flexibility to dollyo chagi kick performance. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between flexibility and dollyo chagi kick performance among female taekwondo athletes in Rejang Lebong Regency.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a crucial skill for those learning English. However, many learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) struggle due to limited vocabulary, lack of motivation, and insufficient involvement during reading tasks. The rise of educational technology has introduced digital applications that can enhance students' reading experiences through multimodal learning environments. This study aimed to investigate how senior high school students engage with reading comprehension while using Beelinguapp and to analyze their behavioral, emotional, and cognitive responses when utilizing the application. A qualitative case study approach was used, involving eleventh-grade students from a senior high school in Indonesia. Data were gathered through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, student journals, and field notes. The collected information was analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The findings indicated that students displayed positive engagement in behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects. Behaviorally, they actively interacted with audio narration, bilingual texts, and vocabulary features. Emotionally, students expressed heightened interest, enjoyment, confidence, and motivation while reading English texts. Cognitively, they applied various strategies for comprehension, such as rereading, listening to audio repetitions, checking translations, and reinforcing vocabulary through flashcards and games. The results imply that Beelinguapp offers a supportive and engaging learning platform that enhances reading comprehension and fosters meaningful student involvement.

Abstract

Advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the broadcasting industry have spurred various innovations in the news production process, one of which is the use of video generators. This technology enables the creation of news content featuring virtual presenters, which can improve production efficiency and accelerate the distribution of information. One media outlet in Indonesia that has implemented this innovation is the YouTube channel @tvOne.ai. Although it offers various benefits, the use of video generators has also sparked diverse perspectives regarding journalistic quality, the ethics of AI use, and the future of media professionals. This study aims to understand how broadcast media workers in Surabaya perceive the use of video generators on the YouTube channel @tvOne.ai. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six informants who work as broadcast media professionals in Surabaya. The results show that media professionals view video generators as an innovation that can support the efficiency of news production; however, they are not yet capable of fully replacing the human role because they still require supervision, verification, and ethical considerations in journalistic practice. Differences in perception are also influenced by the experience, knowledge, and roles of each informant in the news production process.

Abstract

Students with autism have different characteristics in terms of communication, social interaction, and behavior, thus requiring appropriate communication strategies during the learning process, including in entrepreneurship-based learning. This study aims to analyze teachers’ interpersonal communication strategies in fostering entrepreneurial motivation among students with autism through a kokedama project at SLB Harapan Bunda in Surabaya. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research informants consisted of three teachers directly involved in implementing the kokedama project and one student with autism as a supporting informant. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles-Huberman data analysis model, with reference to DeVito’s theory of interpersonal communication. The results showed that teachers applied five interpersonal communication strategies: openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality. These strategies were applied flexibly according to the characteristics, abilities, emotional states, and needs of each student with autism. The supportiveness strategy is the most dominant strategy because teachers actively provide guidance, simplify instructions, give direct examples, and tailor their assistance to students’ needs throughout the learning process. However, this strategy does not stand alone; rather, it complements other interpersonal communication strategies, thereby making the learning process more effective.
