Abstract

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of smartphones as an economics learning medium on the learning interest of Grade X students at MA Yapit Taretta. A quantitative ex post facto design was applied to 43 students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The research instrument consisted of 20 Likert-scale statements covering smartphone use in economics learning and students’ learning interest. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, item validity, reliability, normality, simple linear regression, and a partial t-test. All questionnaire items were valid because their item-total correlations exceeded the critical value of 0.3008. The instruments were reliable, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 0.782 for smartphone use and 0.756 for learning interest. The residuals were normally distributed (significance = 0.142). The regression coefficient was positive (B = 0.462), with t = 3.254 and p = 0.002. These results indicate that smartphones used as an economics learning medium have a positive and statistically significant effect on students’ learning interest. Appropriate instructional guidance is therefore required so that smartphone use supports access to learning resources, interactive activities, concentration, participation, and curiosity rather than becoming a source of distraction.

Abstract

This study analyzes the engagement of 8H-grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Malang (N=31) in Pancasila Education lessons through the implementation of Game-Based Learning (GBL). Employing a qualitative two-cycle Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study examines three dimensions of engagement behavioral, emotional, and cognitive before and after the GBL intervention. Data were collected through structured observation, analysis of assignment completion rates, and anonymous written student reflections. The results demonstrate significant improvements across all three dimensions of engagement: active participation increased manifested by students' willingness to write answers on the board, facilitated by the teacher's affective scaffolding assignment completion rates rose substantially, and student reflections indicated heightened emotional engagement, characterized by a perception of the learning process as more enjoyable. Students previously categorized as passive, including specific individuals requiring special attention, demonstrated active engagement when presented with game-based challenges. This study contributes to the GBL literature by providing qualitative, context-specific evidence regarding the effectiveness of GBL in normative subjects at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study analyzes factors inhibiting student learning interest at SD Muhammadiyah Purwodadi, focusing on the teacher’s role and material complexity. A Descriptive qualitative method with an instrumental case study design was employed through data triangulation, including observation of 12 learning sessions, semi-structured interviews with 15 students and 6 teachers, and analysis of Lesson Plans (RPP), The findings reveal: (1) a gap between lesson planning (RPP) and implementation, characterized by lecture-dominated methods despite RPP-designed interactive activities; (2) limited methodological variation, such as the absence of teaching aids, leading to decreased student interest; (3) material decontextualization, particularly in Muhammadiyah Studies and Javanese Language, which fostered perceptions of irrelevance. Recommendations include consistent RPP implementation, contextual teaching method innovation, and phased material simplification to enhance student learning engagement.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the observation that some children aged 4-5 years have not yet developed optimal literacy and numeracy skills. The study aims to describe the implementation of the learning center, the evaluation of learning, and the supporting and inhibiting factors associated with literacy and numeracy center activities for children aged 4-5 years at KB-TK Labschool Jakarta. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The results indicate that the literacy and numeracy center activities are conducted in a structured manner based on four stages: the play environment, pre-play, during-play, and post-play. Teachers act as facilitators who introduce concepts and guide the children while allowing them the freedom to choose their activities. Learning evaluation utilizes observation, documentation, anecdotal records, children's work samples, rating scales, and class list logs to assess child development. Supporting factors include the children's active engagement, varied learning media, and a conducive learning environment. Inhibiting factors include time constraints and the diversity of children's characteristics including children with special needs which are addressed through individualized approaches. The study concludes that the implementation of the literacy and numeracy center at KB-TK Labschool Jakarta has proceeded effectively, successfully stimulating children's literacy and numeracy skills through structured, child-centered play activities; it is hoped that these findings will serve as a reference for implementing effective practices to stimulate early childhood literacy and numeracy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of organizational image, teacher innovation, and school management on education quality, with teacher performance serving as an intervening variable in public junior high schools (SMP Negeri) in Kalideres District, West Jakarta. The study employed a quantitative approach using a causal research design. The research population consisted of 304 teachers from 10 public junior high schools, with a sample of 173 teachers determined using the Slovin formula at a 5% margin of error and selected through probability sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using path analysis. The results showed that organizational image had a positive and significant effect on education quality (β = 0.381), teacher innovation had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.313), school management had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.189), and teacher performance also had a positive and significant effect on education quality (β = 0.339). Furthermore, organizational image (β = 0.352), teacher innovation (β = 0.588), and school management (β = 0.366) had positive and significant effects on teacher performance. The mediation analysis indicated that teacher performance did not effectively mediate the effects of organizational image, teacher innovation, and school management on education quality. These findings suggest that improving education quality is more effectively achieved through the direct enhancement of organizational image, teacher innovation, school management, and teacher performance.
