Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of cursive handwriting skills among Grade II students at SDN 01 Ulak Selatan, which was caused by the lack of engaging, systematic, and age-appropriate instructional materials. The study aimed to develop Student Worksheets (LKPD) with a high level of validity as instructional materials to support the improvement of students' cursive handwriting skills in Indonesian language learning. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall development model, which includes the stages of research and information gathering, planning, preliminary product development, expert validation, product revision, limited field testing, field testing, final revision, and dissemination. The research subjects were Grade II students of SDN 01 Ulak Selatan. The research instruments consisted of expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, observation sheets, and cursive handwriting skill tests. The results indicated that the developed LKPD achieved a validity score of 91.25%, categorized as highly valid, a practicality score of 93.75%, categorized as highly practical, and an observer validation score of 91.66%, also categorized as highly valid. Furthermore, the implementation of the LKPD contributed to improving students' cursive handwriting skills through systematic, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning activities. Abstract

Social skills are an important competency that students need to possess to support social interaction, self-adjustment, and success in the learning process. However, the results of a preliminary study at SMP Negeri 30 Banjarmasin indicate that students' social skills remain suboptimal, as reflected in low levels of communication, cooperation, empathy, and self-control. One alternative medium for Guidance and Counseling services that can be used to help develop social skills is the Round of Dragon Snake Rainbow (RoDSR) game. This study aims to determine the relationship between the implementation of the RoDSR game and students' social skills at SMP Negeri 30 Banjarmasin, using a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research sample consisted of 59 seventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire on the implementation of the RoDSR game and a social skills questionnaire, both of which had met the requirements of validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was conducted using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and Spearman Rank correlation test with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 25.0. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of the RoDSR game and students' social skills, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.675, which falls into the strong category. These findings suggest that the better the implementation of the RoDSR game, the better students' social skills tend to be. Thus, the RoDSR game can serve as an alternative medium for Guidance and Counseling services to support the development of students' social skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the forms of collaboration between teachers and parents in supporting early childhood development in Early Childhood Education (ECE) institutions, identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation, and explain its implications for children’s development. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research site was selected purposively from an ECE institution that had implemented parent partnership programs. The participants consisted of the ECE principal, classroom teachers, and parents of enrolled children. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings revealed that teacher–parent collaboration was implemented through regular communication, parenting programs, parental involvement in school activities, and support for learning at home. Communication was conducted through face-to-face meetings, communication books, and digital media, enabling continuous exchange of information regarding children’s development. Parenting programs helped improve parents’ understanding of child-rearing practices and developmental stimulation appropriate to their children’s age. Parental involvement in school activities also created more positive learning experiences and increased children’s self-confidence. However, the study identified several obstacles, including parents’ limited time due to work responsibilities, differences in educational background, and limited opportunities for intensive individual communication between teachers and parents. The findings indicate that effective collaboration between teachers and parents contributes positively to children’s socio-emotional, language, and cognitive development. Therefore, ECE institutions should strengthen flexible communication systems, develop sustainable parenting programs, and provide more inclusive family engagement strategies to ensure that school–family partnerships can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Low student learning motivation is often associated with suboptimal parental involvement in supporting children's learning activities at home. This study aimed to describe the contribution of parents in enhancing the learning motivation of sixth-grade students at MI Nurul Wathan Pelambik and to identify the factors that support and hinder such contributions. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research participants consisted of parents of sixth-grade students as the primary informants, while the principal, the sixth-grade teacher, and students served as supporting informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that parental contributions to enhancing students' learning motivation were reflected in three main roles: as role models, facilitators, and motivators. As role models, parents fostered religious values and positive behaviors through daily practices. As facilitators, they provided educational needs according to their financial capacity. As motivators, they encouraged their children through attention, praise, rewards, and educational punishment. The supporting factors included parents' awareness of the importance of education, effective parent–child communication, and collaboration with the school. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors comprised limited family economic resources, parents' occupations as farmers, limited time for learning assistance, and uncontrolled use of digital devices. The study concludes that active parental involvement plays a significant role in enhancing students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical problem-solving ability of fourth-grade students, as indicated by the 2025 preliminary assessment, which showed a mastery level of only 60%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE) learning model assisted by puzzle media on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in learning fraction ordering. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The participants consisted of an experimental class that received instruction through the puzzle-assisted RTE model and a control class that received conventional instruction. The research instrument was a mathematical problem-solving test consisting of six validated and reliable essay questions, including three pretest and three posttest items. The findings revealed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean posttest score (84.3) than the control class (68.7). The Independent Samples t-test produced a significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the puzzle-assisted Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE) learning model significantly improves the mathematical problem-solving ability of fourth-grade students at SDN 01 Kampung Parit Silayang, Pasaman Regency, particularly in the topic of ordering fractions.
