Abstract

The teaching internship program aims to provide students with direct experience in applying pedagogical and professional competencies in schools. This activity was carried out in Grade XII Social Sciences at MAN 1 Merangin, focusing on the implementation of the deep learning approach in Economics instruction, particularly on the topics of the Balance of Payments and International Trade. The deep learning approach was chosen to encourage students to understand concepts more deeply, connect the material with global economic phenomena, and develop critical thinking skills in analyzing data and real-world cases. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation during the learning process. The results show that the application of deep learning—through activities such as analyzing Balance of Payments graphs, group discussions on factors affecting exports and imports, and case studies on international trade—successfully increased student engagement. Students were able to understand key components of the Balance of Payments, such as the current account and capital account, and relate these concepts to Indonesia’s economic conditions in the era of globalization. The deep learning approach proved effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding and analytical abilities on the topics of the Balance of Payments and International Trade. This approach can serve as an alternative instructional strategy to enrich the learning experience and improve the quality of Economics education at the senior high school level.

Abstract

Character education plays a strategic role in developing students who possess moral integrity, social responsibility, and ethical awareness. Literary works, particularly short stories, serve not only as artistic expressions but also as educational media that convey character values through narratives, characters, conflicts, and moral messages. This study aimed to analyze the character education values represented in the Kompas.id Selected Short Story Anthology, October 2025 Edition. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research object was the anthology, while the data consisted of words, phrases, sentences, dialogues, narratives, and characters' actions indicating character education values. Data were collected through documentation using reading and note-taking techniques and analyzed through data identification, classification, interpretation, and description based on the eighteen character education values formulated by the Indonesian Ministry of National Education (Kemendiknas, 2010). The findings revealed ten character education values represented in the anthology, namely religiousness, honesty, hard work, independence, curiosity, friendliness/communicativeness, reading interest, environmental awareness, social awareness, and responsibility. These values were reflected through the characterization, plot, dialogue, conflict, and moral messages embedded in the stories. The findings indicate that the anthology possesses not only aesthetic value but also educational value, making it a relevant literary resource for strengthening character education and supporting Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

Low student learning motivation remains a significant challenge in the learning process. One of the factors suspected to influence this condition is teacher competence in implementing learning. Teacher competence, which includes pedagogical, professional, personality, and social aspects, plays a role in creating a conducive learning environment, enhancing teacher-student interaction, and fostering learning interest. This study aims to determine the effect of teacher competence on student learning motivation at SMK Al-Wathoniyah Pusat Putri. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The population consisted of all 205 students at SMK Al-Wathoniyah Pusat Putri, with a sample of 68 students determined using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. Data analysis employed simple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The results show a positive and significant effect of teacher competence on student learning motivation, evidenced by a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.622 indicating a moderate relationship. The coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.387 indicates that 38.7% of the variation in student learning motivation is explained by teacher competence, while the remaining 61.3% is influenced by other factors. Hypothesis testing shows a significance value < 0.05, thus H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. Keywords: Teacher Competence, Learning Motivation

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the differentiated learning method on the academic achievement of Grade X students in the Akidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics) subject at MAN 1 Makassar City. The study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 382 Grade X students, while the sample comprised 195 students determined using Slovin's formula and proportional random sampling. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, tests, and documentation. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS software, encompassing validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results indicate that, individually, all dimensions of the differentiated learning method have a positive and significant effect on student academic achievement. Content differentiation (X₁) yielded a regression coefficient of 0.69359, a calculated t-value of 11.21, and a significance level of 0.000; process differentiation (X₂) showed a regression coefficient of 0.08211, a calculated t-value of 2.05, and a significance level of 0.041; product differentiation (X₃) showed a regression coefficient of 0.08486, a calculated t-value of 1.98, and a significance level of 0.049; while learning environment differentiation (X₄) showed a regression coefficient of 0.09955, a calculated t-value of 2.18, and a significance level of 0.031. Simultaneously, the differentiated learning method significantly influenced student academic achievement, with a calculated F-value of 52.84 and a significance level of 0.000. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 52.7% indicates that the differentiated learning method accounts for 52.7% of the variation in student academic achievement, while the remaining 47.3% is influenced by factors outside the scope of this study. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the differentiated learning method has a positive and significant impact on the academic achievement of Grade X students in the Akidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics) subject at MAN 1 Makassar City. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers implement differentiated learning optimally to ensure the learning process is effective and student-centered, and capable of enhancing academic achievement in alignment with the needs, interests, and characteristics of each student.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) group counseling in reducing bullying behavior among students at MTs Darul Ulum As-Surur. Bullying remains a persistent problem in Indonesian schools, including religious-based institutions such as madrasah, despite their emphasis on moral education. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, involving 20 eighth-grade students divided into an experimental group (n=10) that received six sessions of CBT-based group counseling and a control group (n=10) that received regular guidance and counseling services. Data were collected using a 24-item bullying behavior questionnaire covering four dimensions: physical, verbal, relational/social, and cyberbullying, which was proven valid (r-count > r-table = 0.422) and reliable (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.792). Data were analyzed using Paired Sample and Independent Sample t-Tests with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 26. Results showed a significant decrease in bullying scores in the experimental group (pretest M=81.60 to posttest M=40.60; t=22.532; Sig.=0.002<0.05), while the control group showed no significant change (M=79.10 to M=76.80; t=3.214; Sig.=0.111>0.05). The Independent Sample t-Test confirmed a significant difference between the two groups' posttest scores (t=-20.307; df=18; Sig.=0.002<0.05; mean difference=-36.20). These findings indicate that CBT-based group counseling is effective in reducing bullying behavior among madrasah students and may serve as an evidence-based intervention model for school counselors.

Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) has been widely promoted as an approach that supports meaningful writing instruction in English as a Foreign Language classrooms, yet how teachers actually carried it out in teaching descriptive text remained insufficiently explored through qualitative inquiry. The purpose of this study was to explore how the English teacher applied PBL to the teaching of writing descriptive text. Working within a single Madrasah Tsanawiyah classroom, this qualitative case study traced one English teacher's enactment of PBL across three meetings of a descriptive writing unit on animals, drawing on classroom observation, a semi-structured interview, and students' Canva poster products. The teacher built her cycle around an essential-question stimulus using a familiar visual object, heterogeneous small-group planning, a deliberately time-boxed in-class drafting stage extended into a week-long take-home digital design task, a public presentation paired with peer classification of grammatical elements, and a closing reflective correction session. Findings show this sequence functioned as more than a procedural checklist: it operationalized a socially mediated learning process in which the teacher repeatedly scaffolded students within their zone of proximal development, while peer presentation created accountability that shaped how carefully students composed their sentences. Time pressure on digital design was the main structural constraint, resolved by shifting that stage outside class hours. The study concludes that effective PBL implementation rests less on strict fidelity to a fixed model than on a teacher's situated, adaptive translation of its core elements into workable classroom decisions.
