Abstract

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is one of the essential components in implementing occupational safety on board ships. However, the availability of PPE does not always guarantee that it will be used properly by crew members. This study aims to analyze the role of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), particularly safety harnesses, in improving the safety of crew members on board MV. HL Esperance and to identify the factors influencing its implementation. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through direct observation during the sea practice program (PRALA), in-depth interviews with the Chief Officer as the primary informant and the Bosun as the supporting informant, as well as documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PPE, particularly safety harnesses, plays a crucial role in minimizing the risk of occupational accidents during work at height and other high-risk operations. However, the implementation of PPE has not yet been optimal due to several factors, including low safety awareness, lack of work discipline, the perception that routine tasks are relatively safe, comfort-related issues, changing working conditions, and inconsistent supervision. Therefore, strengthening supervision, improving safety awareness, and fostering a strong safety culture are essential to optimize PPE implementation and minimize the risk of occupational accidents on board ships.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological aspects in the short story “Listrik Mati Lagi” by Abdullah Alawi through a literary psychology approach. The problem addressed in this research is how the psychological conditions of the characters are portrayed amid economic pressure and environmental limitations. The objective of this study is to identify and describe the inner conflicts, emotional responses, and defense mechanisms experienced by the characters. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through close reading and note-taking techniques on narrative elements, dialogues, and character actions. The analysis is based on psychological literary theory focusing on anxiety, inner conflict, and defense mechanisms. The results show that the characters experience various psychological pressures, including anxiety, fear, and emotional tension. The father figure tends to exhibit silence as a form of defense mechanism, while the mother expresses anxiety through complaints. Meanwhile, the child character reflects subjective perception shaped by fear and imagination, especially in dark situations caused by power outages. These findings indicate that environmental conditions, such as economic hardship and physical surroundings, significantly influence the psychological state of the characters. Therefore, the short story not only represents social reality but also reveals complex psychological dynamics within human life.

Abstract

Film serves not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a form of mass communication that represents and reproduces social ideologies, including patriarchal ideology. Suzanna:MalamJumat Kliwon (2023)portrays various power relations that demonstrate male dominance over women in both domestic and social contexts. This study aims to analyze the representation of patriarchal ideology in the film. The research employed a qualitative approach using John Fiske's semiotic analysis through three analytical levels: reality, representation, and ideology. Data were collected through observations of eight scenes depicting patriarchal practices and supported by relevant literature. The findings reveal that patriarchal ideology is represented through four main aspects: (1) control over women's life choices, (2) objectification of women's bodies and reproductive functions, (3)male domination and gender-based violence, and(4) the silencing of women's voices in decision-making. These representations are constructed through dialogue, facial expressions, gestures, cinematographic techniques, lighting, and visual composition that consistently portray unequal power relations between men and women. The study concludes that Suzanna: Malam Jumat Kliwon (2023) represents patriarchy as a social system that legitimizes male dominance through normalized practices in both domestic and social life, thereby restricting women's rights, autonomy, and agency.

Abstract

Abstract

Grounding incidents in narrow waterways remain one of the major causes of navigational accidents that affect the safety and efficiency of ship operations. The Mahakam River is one of Indonesia's busiest inland waterways, characterized by narrow channels, sedimentation, tidal influences, and high traffic density, which increase navigational risks. This study aims to analyze the factors causing the grounding of MV. Tanjung Manis while entering the narrow navigation channel of the Mahakam River. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through onboard observation, interviews with the master, chief officer, second officer, and helmsman, as well as documentation of navigational activities. The findings reveal that the grounding was caused by the interaction of three major factors. Human error included inadequate bridge communication, suboptimal Bridge Resource Management (BRM), reduced situational awareness, and inappropriate decision-making during a meeting situation with another vessel. Internal factors involved the limited performance of the echo sounder in detecting accurate under keel clearance due to heavy sedimentation. External factors consisted of narrow and shallow channels, sediment accumulation, tidal conditions, and dense vessel traffic in the Mahakam River. The study concludes that grounding prevention requires effective bridge team communication, proper utilization of navigational equipment, compliance with COLREG Rule 9 regarding narrow channels, and continuous situational awareness throughout navigation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the values of aqidah akhlak learning in the “mappatabe” culture for grade VII students of MTsS Palattae, Kahu District, Bone Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation with the aqidah akhlak teacher and grade VII students. The results of the study indicate that the planning was carried out systematically by integrating the values of sipakatau (humanizing each other), sipakalebbi (respecting each other), and sipakainge (reminding each other) into the 5S habituation (smile, greeting, politeness, greeting, courtesy) in the madrasah. Implementation is carried out through teacher role models and habits, such as greeting, speaking politely, asking permission, and respecting others both inside and outside the madrasah. Evaluation is carried out continuously by emphasizing the affective and psychomotor aspects through direct observation, attitude journals, self-assessment, and peer assessment. This finding confirms that integrating learning of faith and morals with local cultural values is able to shape the character of students who are polite, disciplined, and care about others

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Rohis (Islamic Spiritual Activity) extracurricular program and its contribution to student academic achievement at SMA Negeri 5 Makassar. It employs a qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Makassar, involving subjects such as the Rohis supervisor, the Rohis chairperson, and Rohis members. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and documentation review. The data were analyzed through the stages of collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was verified using source, technique, and time triangulation. The results indicate that the Rohis extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 5 Makassar have been effective. This effectiveness is evidenced by structured program planning, activity implementation tailored to students' needs and interests, effective communication and coordination among supervisors, administrators, members, and the school administration, as well as continuous program evaluation. Rohis activities—such as Islamic study sessions, Quranic recitation (tahsin), commemorations of major Islamic holidays, and social service projects—not only enhance religious understanding but also help foster discipline, responsibility, teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership skills among students. Furthermore, Rohis activities contribute positively to student academic achievement, as reflected in improved discipline, motivation, active classroom participation, time management skills, and comprehension of Islamic Religious Education material. Thus, the Rohis extracurricular program serves as a supporting factor in enhancing the student learning process and academic achievement.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research was motivated by the low ability of sixth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 10 Peudada, Bireuen Regency, to write pantun, particularly in identifying and applying the structure, rhyme, opening lines (sampiran), content, and the appropriate number of syllables. This problem was attributed to monotonous conventional teaching practices. This study aimed to describe the improvement in students’ ability to write pantun, observe the learning activities, and identify students’ responses through the implementation of the Group Investigation (GI) model assisted by pantun card media. This study employed a qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 24 sixth-grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 10 Peudada in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively using percentages of students’ mastery in pantun writing, teacher activities, student activities, and student responses. The success criterion was established at a minimum classical mastery level of 80%, with a Learning Achievement Criteria (KKTP) score of 75. The results showed that students’ pantun writing ability improved in each cycle. In the pre-action stage, the students’ classical mastery was 37.5%, with a mean score of 63.58. After the implementation of the intervention in Cycle I, classical mastery increased to 70.83%, with a mean score of 85.54. In Cycle II, classical mastery reached 83.33%, with a mean score of 90.41, indicating that the success criterion had been achieved. Teacher activity increased from 85.55% in Cycle I to 96.66% in Cycle II, while student activity increased from 82.22% to 94.44%, both categorized as very good. In addition, students responded positively to the learning process because the learning activities were more engaging and enjoyable and helped them generate ideas for writing pantun. Therefore, the implementation of the Group Investigation (GI) model assisted by pantun card media was effective in improving the pantun writing ability of sixth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 10 Peudada.
