Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to determine the learning outcomes and level of critical thinking demonstrated by the students in the class. The researchers utilized a quasi-experimental study methodology, especially employing a research design called the one group pretest-posttest design. The methodology used was the Independent Sample t-Test to analyze learning outcomes, with a significance level of 5%. This research results a substantial significance. The two-tailed test result is statistically significant because the p-value (0.000) is smaller than the significance level (0.05), or the t-statistic (3.268) is larger than the crucial t-value (2.01063). This study suggests that the combined use of integrated problem-based learning (PBL) and numbered head together (NHT) learning models significantly affect the learning outcomes of class X students at SMA Negeri 16 Samarinda.

Abstract

Physics, a branch of natural science, studies various natural phenomena, including matter and energy, and the interactions between the two. Students often struggle to understand physics concepts in school because they are theoretical and not contextual. A contextual learning approach, such as ethnophysics, is one solution to make physics more interesting and relevant. Ethnophysics integrates physics concepts with local wisdom. One of the local wisdoms in Musi Banyuasin is batik gambo. Making Batik Gambo has various potentials that can be analyzed in physics concepts during production. Therefore, this study aims to explore the physics concept in making batik Gambo. The method used is qualitative research in the form of a literature study with an ethnophysical approach. The analysis of physics concepts, such as heat transfer, pressure, capillarity, and adhesion, are involved in making Batik Gambo. Studying this physics concept facilitates theoretical understanding and becomes a contextual and exciting learning tool for students while supporting and improving scientific literacy.
