Abstract

Rail joints are critical points in railway track infrastructure that affect passenger train ride comfort and safety. This study analyzes their impact along the Tanjung Karang – Rejosari line through Track Quality Index (TQI) and International Roughness Index (IRI Roadbump) measurements, passenger perception surveys using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and failure risk evaluation using Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) with Weighted Risk Priority Number (WRPN). Results indicate that joints with high TQI and IRI values produce significant impacts, reducing comfort. AHP identified impacts as the dominant factor, while FMECA found the highest RPN in thermite welded joints with the failure mode of “joint corrosion.” The study recommends replacing thermite welding with flash butt welding and converting mechanical joints to permanent welded joints to improve track geometry, reduce failure risk, and enhance comfort and safety.

Abstract

The development of fish feed fortification technology based on agricultural waste is one of the potential solutions to reduce feed production costs. Fish feed fortification can be derived from animal and plant sources, provided that the fortification ingredients contain protein, carbohydrates, fat, and other nutrients. Rice bran, an agricultural by-product, contains carbohydrates that can be utilized as raw material in fish feed formulation. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of fortified fish feed made from silk worm meal and fish meal fortified with rice bran waste on the growth and yield of Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus). The research method employed a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with four treatments, namely: A (2.25% tapioca flour + 0.75% rice bran flour), B (2% tapioca flour + 1% rice bran flour), C (1.5% tapioca flour + 1.5% rice bran flour), and D (0.75% tapioca flour + 2.25% rice bran flour). Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in a total of 12 experimental units. The results showed that treatment D (0.75% tapioca flour + 2.25% rice bran flour) was the best artificial feed formulation for Sangkuriang catfish grow-out, as indicated by higher absolute length gain, absolute weight gain, survival rate, and feed conversion ratio. The nutritional content of treatment D feed formulation (1:3), consisting of 0.75% tapioca flour + 2.25% rice bran flour, was 1.85% carbohydrate, 12.79% fat, and 31.01% protein.

Abstract

In recent years, the use of natural and local ingredients to improve the nutritional quality of feed, as well as fish health and growth, has required the addition of supplementary components such as phytobiotics and carbohydrates. The abundance of local ingredients like papaya leaves and cassava in the Bengkulu region presents great potential for their utilization as feed supplements for fish. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of combining phytobiotic and carbohydrate supplementation on the growth performance of Nile tilapia. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a single factor and four treatments: A (basal diet), B (basal diet + 25% papaya leaf meal + 75% cassava meal), C (basal diet + 50% papaya leaf meal + 50% cassava meal), and D (basal diet + 75% papaya leaf meal + 25% cassava meal). Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in a total of 15 experimental units. The results showed that diet formulation D (basal diet + 75% papaya leaf meal + 25% cassava meal) was the best treatment, as it produced the highest feed intake, better daily growth rate and biomass, and a relatively greater absolute length compared to the other treatments.

Abstract

Electric Rail Trains (KRL) have become the most frequently used transportation mode for daily activities in the community. One of the existing problems within the operation system of Electric Rail Trains (KRL) lies in the current rectification process. During this rectification process, an effect occurs that can cause disturbances in the KRL's electrical system. This resulting effect is the harmonic effect. This study aims to address the problem of power quality degradation in the Electric Rail Train (KRL) at the Citayam Station Traction Substation, which is caused by this harmonic effect. The harmonic effect arises from the process of rectifying alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) using a silicon rectifier, which can lead to voltage drop, speed reduction, or even the operational stoppage of the KRL.The research method used is quantitative descriptive. The study did not conduct direct measurements but instead used averaged assumption data from three related journals as primary data. The data analyzed were the values of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) for both current and voltage, particularly focusing on the 5th, 7th, and 11th harmonic orders, which were identified as the highest contributors to the harmonic distortion. To mitigate the harmonics, this study designed a single-tuned passive filter using the ETAP (Electric Transient Analysis Program) software. The design aims to suppress the harmonic distortion, thereby improving the electrical power quality, maintaining the reliability of the traction substation, and optimizing KRL operations. The single-tuned passive filter designed in this research was capable of suppressing harmonics by up to 0.009%.

Abstract

Drugs trafficking via Indonesia's sea routes continues to increase, making the Sunda Strait one of the most vulnerable points for inter-island smuggling. Conventional surveillance using patrol boats is often ineffective due to limitations in range, weather, and response time. This study was conducted to evaluate the potential and effectiveness of utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology in detecting and preventing drug trafficking in the Sunda Strait maritime region. The study used a qualitative approach through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that examined previous research results, national policies, and the implementation of UAVs in maritime security. The analysis was carried out by grouping the findings into four main themes, namely the effectiveness of UAVs in maritime surveillance, technical and operational constraints, integration with national security systems, and institutional policies and regulations. The results of the study show that UAVs can double the effectiveness of surveillance through real-time visual detection capabilities, wide coverage, and integration with radar and AIS systems. However, technical challenges such as battery life, extreme weather, and operator limitations still need to be overcome. The study concludes that the integrated application of UAVs, supported by strong institutional policies, can strengthen the national maritime security system and narrow the space for drug smuggling networks in the Sunda Strait.
